Special Episode: Closing Out The Generation
39 perc 88. rész batandhammer
Hello everyone, Since I'm out getting married and Bat is undoubtedly there both cheering and jeering me on we wanted to make sure we still gave you all a fun little episode. With the new consoles on the horizon we thought it would be good to reflect on this current generation and wax poetic about what we liked, what we didn't, what surprised us and what we're hoping from this next one. Funniest of all is that this actually will be posted on time, because I scheduled it a full on week ahead of time lol. So sit back and enjoy, we will be back next week with your regularly scheduled geekyness. We will be having a very special episode next week before we get back to normal!

Episode 343: Mom and Dad
38 perc 83. rész batandhammer
Hello everyone, welcome to our week in geek! Just no time this past week to motivate us to get out and watch a movie in the theaters so instead we talk about the nerd news of the past week, review our streaming movie of Mom and Dad and answer last week's podquestion of "which is your favorite Monty Python sketch?" This we watched our listener TK's suggestion of Mom and Dad on Hulu. Well, let's start off with a question. "when did Nick Cage stop getting directed and just go full tilt odd ball?" That's the question that we both kept asking ourselves as we watched through this strange but entertaining movie. I really loved the way the movie was shot and edited, which gave it a very unique feel. While it's very much a zombie movie but with parents killing kids, it does have some fun to keep you engaged. The biggest thing to pull you out of it is Nick Cage's "acting." While Bat didn't enjoy it as much, we both did say that it was worth the watch.
Episode 342: Lady Bird
30 perc 82. rész batandhammer
Hello everyone, welcome to our slightly under the weather and delayed week in geek! We both got hit early with the plague so no full spoiler filled theatrical review. Instead I bring you the Hammer only spoiler free review of Just Mercy. Maybe it's the sickness or the cold, but there just wasn't too much news so we instead talk a little about what we're still (not) playing, our streaming review of Lady Bird and answer last week's podquestion of "which streaming service would you choose if you could only watch one for the rest of the year?"
Episode 341: 1917

Episode 340: Hellboy-ish

We also answer last week's podquestion of "What is your New Years resolution?"
Episode 339: 2019 Year in Review

We also discuss our streaming review of 6 Underground and answer last week's podquestion of "What is your favorite stormtrooper?" This week's streaming review was brought to you by me. We watched the Ryan Reynolds and Michael Bay movie 6 Underground on Netflix. First off, let's just appreciate the numerous action-gasam scenes present. It's as if someone proposed that they wanted to make a movie with Reynolds directed by Bay and... kind of stopped there and just shoved money in their direction. This is not a great movie by any stretch but it sure as hell was a fun movie. Both of us recommend you taking the almost 2 hours out of your life to just sit back and enjoy the ride. For next week, we're going to watch the new Hellboy movie on Amazon Prime... oh boy.

Abrams comes out of the corner desperately throwing hay-makers. While some of these punches hit, more often than not, they miss the mark. This week's streaming review was Welcome to Marwen on HBOgo. Now this one was kind of sad, but not in the way you'd imagine. Both of us were pretty excited to see this one but missed it in the theaters. We loved the stylized look of the dolls and even in execution we loved it in the movie. But the problem that we each had with this movie was that we just didn't feel for the main character. There were so many plot threads and conversations that just really didn't lead anywhere and didn't really help us empathize with the main character. We both recommend skipping this one, even with the cool effects.
Episode 327: Ad Ass-tra

Hello everyone, welcome to our week in Geek! We hit the theaters this week to see the space..."epic" Ad Astra. Wow... man I wish we missed this one, but we will get into that later. Hello everyone, welcome to our week in Geek! Oh no, the clown is back in town! This week we hit the theaters to see IT: Chapter 2. Don't worry, I most definitely jumped and Bat most definitely laughed at my expense. But don't worry, we won't spoil the rollercoaster until the end of the show. Episode 324: Perfection
45 perc 64. rész batandhammer
Hello everyone, welcome to our week in Geek! We're hitting the ground running with a whole mess of news but first we dive into our streaming review of The Perfection (I finished it this time!). Starting off we have the 'classic' video games of Lion King and Alladin coming back, Rise of the Skywalker trailer, Joker new trailer and review reactions and this month's free shit good shit. We also answer last week's podquestion of "What is your favorite montage song?" This week's streaming review was The Perfection on Netflix. Gotta admit it right off the bat, we both really enjoyed this one. So much so, that we both recommend you don't really listen to us or watch any trailers, just give it a watch. Okay, if you're still reading then there's no talking sense into you so let's get to it. The way this movie continues to subvert your expectations and evolve the circumstances and characters is truly something to witness. The periodic "rewinds" that show you the other side of things allows you to slowly chip away at the bigger story and also chips away at the facade of the perfection. The two leads do such a wonderful job at acting each of their parts that I kept thinking back to it long after the credits roll. Every now and then it seems like Netlfix breaks the mold from it's usual craptacular endings, give this movie your time and attention. Next week we're watching The Hurt Locker on HBOgo. You can suggest a streaming movie that you want us to watch and review on future episodes that are on Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime or HBOgo. With it being the new year and our first podcast of the year that means it's time to do our Year in Review!!! (read to the tune of Pigs in Space). Bat and I saw different movies in the theaters, which him seeing Bumblebee and my seeing Mary Poppins Returns. So we will stick to our spoiler free reviews along with doing our streaming review of Mowgli and our Podquestion of which Disney animated movie do you Not want to see get the remake treatment. This week we watched the fan suggestion of Mowgli: The Legend of the Jungle on Netflix. Well, how about that? We're both pleasantly surprised by this latest Andy Serkis telling of Jungle Book. While we were both noticeable hesitant with wanting to watch this movie due to the numerous retelling that we've already seen. This one actually did something different, it told a story that felt new and was more fleshed out than it's previous brethren. We are provided with an actual story focused on Mowgli rather than having him just be another pawn in play for the other characters. As with other Serkis movies, the motion capture goes a decent way of making these CGI creatures feel more alive and real. Again, this IS another telling of Jungle Book but just like we said in Bat's review of Bumblebee it shows what some properties can be when handled by different people with different perspectives. Thanks Kristi, again, for delivering another good streaming recommendation.
