Stop Trading Time for Money with Chris VonLindenberg
43 perc
27. rész
Are you tired of trading time for money?
If you ask me, trading time for money is a trap. You’ll never reach your full earning potential by trading your time for money. Why? Well, time is limited. You can only trade a certain number of hours for dollars. Eventually, you’ll reach your limit and as a result, you’ll reach your income limit too.
Christopher W. VonLindenberg is the Founder and President of Lindenberg Financial, Inc. He is responsible for the development, implementation and review of each of his client’s financial plans. Chris is a man who knows how to help people quantify and focus on achieving their specific financial goals.
I invited Chris onto the podcast to share his unique perspective on the limited potential of trading time for money, why goal setting is so powerful, and how he uses his past as rocket fuel for his future. It’s a fantastic episode that’s going to inspire you to start thinking about how you can silence your limiting beliefs and start making what you’re worth!
In this episode:
Chris shares his story and reveals important life lessons he learned from those around him growing up
Whether it’s a good idea to have a bucket list – or is it just a list that promotes limiting beliefs?
The downside of salary-based roles and getting paid for your time, not results
How Chris used other people’s taunts that he was a failure to prove them wrong
Why you should re-evaluate how to spend your time
Chris offers financial tips for building cash flow
The importance of setting goals and priorities
The advantages of delegation

Finding Your Purpose in a Crisis with Chris Donaldson

Chris Donaldson is the host of the Office Hours podcast. Chris and I go way back, and he’s always been a huge inspiration for me. I mean, this is a man who looked Hurricane Katrina right in the eye and said, “No way, not today!”
He refused to let a natural disaster stop him from achieving his dreams. Believe it or not, it’s thanks to Hurricane Katrina that Chris discovered his life’s purpose. When disaster strikes, such as natural disasters or global pandemics like the coronavirus (COVID-19), you have a choice to make.
Are you going to fight? Or, are you going to sit back, stop taking action, and let the chips fall where they may?
In this episode, Chris and I dig into some of the hardships and setbacks he faced in his own life, how he got through them and how he managed a business in the middle of a crisis.
In this episode:
How Hurricane Katrina sparked a change in Chris and gave his life meaning
How Chris managed a company in crisis
The importance of seizing opportunities
How to provide clients with what they need most in difficult times – certainty
How to nurture relationships with clients and potential prospects in the middle of a crisis
A look at one of the biggest challenges that Chris faces right now

Using Past Hardships as Fuel for Success with Todd Ault
49 perc
24. rész
Everyone has a past and maybe it’s not always filled with happy memories, but I believe that we can all learn and grow from our past. We can take our hardships, struggles, and trials and use those things to discover what we’re really made of.
This is exactly what Todd Ault did when he decided that he was never going to be broke. Todd was raised by a single mom who, although she did everything she could for her family, found it difficult to get by. Money was scarce and nothing seemed to come easy.
Seeing and experiencing financial troubles throughout his childhood, Todd made a promise to himself that he would do whatever it took to live a financially free lifestyle. So, he became highly motivated and is now a seasoned business professional, entrepreneur, and the Chief Executive Office and Chairman of Ault & Company, Inc, (http://www.ault.com/) a private diversified holding company founded by Todd.
Together, we dig into his powerful story and discuss how he trained himself to be in business, and the importance of finding the right partner in life who supports you and doesn’t hold you back from being the ultimate version of yourself.
In this episode, we discuss:
A look at Todd’s early life and some of the trials he and his family faced growing up
The power of looking into your past and using times of hardship as fuel for achieving your goals
How Todd’s promise to himself to never be broke motivated him to succeed
What Todd learned from the biggest investment mistake of his life
How to know if you’re a visionary or an implementer (or both)
Todd shares the importance of finding the right partner
Why you need to have a clear vision for what you want to do in your life
What Todd does to rewind, relax, and re-focus

Above anything else, my priority is being healthy and working on my fitness. Because if I’m not well, if I’m stuck in a hospital bed somewhere because of a heart attack, then my family and business are going to suffer too.
That’s why I was so excited to speak with Jason Priest – the founder of Man Up Community (http://www.themanupcommunity.com/). Jason knows this truth better than almost anyone.
After he spent six years as an ICU nurse, saving the lives of men his age who hadn’t prioritized their health, he knew he had to do something. That experience gave Jason the drive to help 1,000,000 men hold themselves to a higher standard and become the best versions of themselves.
Jason joined me on the What Are You Made Of? podcast to talk about what it means to be accountable, why your health is your most valuable asset, why starting imperfectly is better than waiting for perfection, and how you can keep eating burgers and drinking beer whilst being healthy.
Find out about:
Why accountability can make such a big difference in your health journey
How Jason used his fear of regret to start his business and thrive
Whether focusing on your health is selfish or selfless
Why self-acceptance shouldn’t stop you from striving to be better
How ignoring your health now will make things harder for you in the end
Why routines and consistency are the greatest safety net you can have

Prioritizing Profit with Rocky Lalvani
36 perc
7. rész
I’m all about sales and margins. Even as a kid, I was on the golf course gathering up golf balls and selling them on at a great margin!
Today, I’m just as focussed on getting that profit because I am working towards financial freedom and living the life I want. I have clarity and commitment to my end goal.
But, often, as business owners, it’s easy to lose sight of that and become bogged down in prioritizing the wrong things. You get caught up in expenses and don’t put aside profit. Suddenly it comes to year end and there’s nothing in the pot.
My guest this week, is Rocky Lalvani. He moved with his parents from India to the US when he was very young. They worked incredible hard to achieve the American dream and make themselves a success. But, when Rocky’s mum died when he was just 7 years old, instead of breaking him down, he found inner strength that helped skyrocket him to financial success.
Today, Rocky helps business owners reassess their outlook on life and start prioritizing profit in order to get the life you want to live. He believes that business owners need to reverse that equation of “sales – expenses = profits” and turn it into “sales – profit = expenses.”
Once you stop seeing profit as a leftover after expenses and making profit a priority, you get off that roller-coaster, you start making tougher choices on your expenses and margins and you start working towards financial freedom.
Find out about:
How to stop thinking of profit as a leftover and get in the habit of prioritizing and setting aside profit
Why you should start with how you want live your life, first and then get your business to fit the life you want to live
Focussing on chasing profit as opposed to revenue
Creating clarity on what you want and working towards financial freedom
Not running from your dreams when someone digs at you and showing them what you’re made of
If you want to check out the book Rocky was talking about, it’s Profit First, by Mike Michalowicz (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Profit-First-Transform-Cash-Eating-Money-Making/dp/073521414X/ref=sr_1_1?crid=3VYAXVR8271QS&keywords=profit+first&qid=1576674827&sprefix=profit+fir%2Caps%2C146&sr=8-1).

Finding your Purpose with Nani Bernal of InPowerTribe

Was there a moment in your childhood that turned everything upside down? Did you feel like you had no purpose in life?
Sometimes you are just headed down the wrong path and you have to hit rock bottom before you can see the way out.
I had an old classmate on the show this week, Nani Bernal. Like me, divorce and family issues changed her life and sent her spiralling downwards. The only doors that opened up for her were jail cell doors. She lived up to everybody’s titles – drug dealer, delinquent, drop out. But then after getting in a bad accident and spending 72 hours in a jail cell away from her little girl – she finally asked herself – is this what I am made of?
It broke her, but it also made her. She realized that she had the power to break free.
Nani shares her incredible life story and the moment everything changed. How she fell in love with sales and found her significance. She began dominating in her job and transformed the business and then set up her own successful moving company. It wasn’t until she heard Steve Harvey at the 10x Growth Conference (https://10xgrowthcon.com/) that she realized she was living a purpose that wasn’t hers. She was taking on obstacles that weren’t hers.
Now she’s found her purpose and her gift. She’s living a purpose-driven life and not a profit-driven one where she’s giving back with her InPower tribe.
Find out about:
How even with a record, no high school diploma or college degree – if you have you, and the right mindset you can be whoever you want to be
How her first job taught her grit and the will to succeed
Walking away from a $25k a month gig because she was screwed over
Starting her own successful moving company
Suffering from burnout and realizing she was living a purpose that wasn’t hers
How she made it her mission to help people grow as leaders with the InPower Accountability Group

Get Out Of The Mental Cage
25 perc
5. rész
Are you living the life that you are meant to live?
Or, are your days consumed by feelings of anxiety, hopelessness and depression?
Millions of people around the world suffer from depression at one time or another. When someone is depressed, it can feel like they’re trapped in a dark cage in their mind with no hope of escaping.
However, I don’t believe that. I’m not a doctor by any means and I’m not claiming that breaking free from depression is easy, because it’s not. But…I do believe that in a lot of cases, depression and anxiety exist because the potential that our spirit has inside ourselves is not being reached or reached for.
When we keep our spirit from reaching its true potential, our bodies and minds suffer. You feel as though you were meant for something more, something meaningful, something great and yet, you’re stuck. You’re trapped in a mental cage that you made for yourself in the deepest, darkest corner of your mind.
If you want to break free from anxiety and depression, you’ve got to set your spirit free so that it can reach its full potential. I want to help you get there, which is what I talk about in this episode of What Are You Made Of?, where you’ll hear why I think everyone has a spirit within them, how caging it can fuel anxiety and depression and a few easy steps you can take to help you unleash your spirit’s true potential.
Find out about:
The truth that everyone has a spirit within them that has unlimited potential
How ‘caging’ your spirit could be fueling feelings of anxiety and depression
Stories from my past that have helped me break through barriers
How to figure out your spirit’s potential and purpose
Why you shouldn’t be afraid to talk about your struggles and share them with someone who is willing to listen
The importance of learning from others and understanding that nobody ever became successful without going through hurdles

Your Culture Is Your Foundation

Have you ever wondered how important culture is when it comes to your work, family, or social life? Let me tell you something. No matter how great you have it right now, if you don’t have a great culture, or have a plan to make it great, that relationship or business won’t be around long. Creating a great culture takes time and effort, but when you get it right, there’s nothing quite like it.
I've worked hard to get my team pulling in the same direction and I’ve had to make some big decisions along the way. But, to create a great culture, you need to find people who are willing to buy into it. You’ve got to give a bit of tough love sometimes, but you also need to take the time to appreciate when your staff are going above and beyond. By getting the culture right, you can really build people up and push them to achieve things that they didn’t know were possible.
In this episode of the podcast, I look at my past experiences with culture and explore what it took for me to get it right in my business. I also give you some big tips on how you can create a thriving culture in your business, relationships and life.
Find out about:
Why creating a great culture is important
How you can create a great culture in your workplace or family
What happens if you don’t have a great culture
The power of setting unattainable targets

Striving To Feel And Be The Best

Do you want to be the best at something? Maybe you want to be the best leader, employee, father or the best at something else? It’s normal to want to be the best at something important to you. However, if you’re not the best yet, it’s not because you don’t have it in you to be the best. It’s because something is holding you back.
If you ask me, the one thing that is probably holding you back from being the best is you. You might not even realize it, but you can be your own worst enemy at times. People usually know what they need to do to achieve their goals. The problem is that they aren’t willing to make the necessary sacrifices that would lead to them both feeling and being the best. This is something that they need to work on and with time and effort, I believe that everyone has it in them to not only smash their biggest goals but feel and be the best.
In this episode of the podcast, I share a story from my past that had a huge impact on me, and I open up about how it has helped shape who I am today. I also discuss why I believe that you can be the best and what you can do to help yourself get there.

Leading From The Roof

2. rész
Leading people isn’t always easy. If you’re in a leadership role, you have to set a good example for others to follow. You might have heard people say that great leaders are born to lead but I don’t think that’s necessarily true. I believe that great leaders can be cultivated and although you might not be a perfect leader right now, you can become someone who others look to for guidance, empathy, passion, integrity and above all, leadership.
I came across a story a while back and ever since, I haven’t been able to shake it from my mind. The story is about Scott Mann, a former Green Beret who later became a leadership coach. Back when he was a Green Beret, Scott and his team went into villages in Afghanistan where the Taliban had control. The villagers were paralyzed with fear of the Taliban. It wasn’t until the Green Beret stepped in to help free the villagers from their terrorizing captors that they began to fight alongside them.
They fought together from the rooftops. They fought for justice, freedom, and peace. It’s an inspiring story and one that I wanted to share with you on this second episode of my new podcast, What Are You Made Of? We may not be in the depths of a war zone, but we’re all fighting our own battles, no matter how great or small. And, I believe that we can learn a lot from this story, especially when it comes to leadership.
In this episode, you’ll hear about:
Scott Mann’s ‘Rooftop Leadership’ story and why it really spoke to me
The struggles my business faced just two years ago and how we pulled through
What I told my team at our lowest point and how those lessons helped shape who we are as a team and as a company today
The importance of determination and perseverance in times of trouble
Why you shouldn’t have people on your team who swim upstream instead of with the current
How my company’s success ‘snowballed’ and started smashing records
