It was 10pm one night and Lauren was holding her screaming baby. She was so tired she couldn't remember the last time her baby ate, had a poop or took a nap. In desperation she sent her husband to Target. Surely if there is a button that brings food to your house (thanks Door Dash!), there MUST be a device (that isn't a phone!) to track baby's day to day activity. He came home empty handed, and that's when Lauren and her husband started building their own one-touch logger...Talli Baby was born!
In this episode Lauren Longo, creator of Talli Baby, shares why it was important to build a device that doesn't depend on having your phone nearby, how it brings peace of mind to families and why using a tracker like Talli is helpful to families with multiple caretakers.
There is ONE key theme to teaching your toddler through preschooler who to sleep independently: confidence!

6:50- Thoughts on door locking
10:41- Kid wakes up and comes into parent room
22:58- How is confidence related to sleep?
25:44- What age can kids put themselves to sleep without help?
28:28- When to move to a toddler bed
31:22- Thoughts on melatonin
37:22- Nightmares and night terror thoughts
39:59- Roomsharing for siblings
43:39- Ideal wake times and early rising
47:50- Solo parenting a toddler
50:51- Can a child read for hours at night?

Vered Benhorin joins me on the podcast this week to share how music helps you understand your baby's cues.
Vered is a musician, music therapist, owner of Baby In Tune and mom of 3. She teaches parents of babies how to use music to speak their baby’s language, get more sleep, and have more fun.
When she had her first baby eleven years ago, she struggled with nursing issues, felt overwhelmed and utterly exhausted all the time. In a moment of frustration she pushed herself to sing to her baby.
Through the immediate soothing that she and her baby BOTH felt, and the connection that developed between them, Baby in Tune was born. Vered uses her natural ability to write songs that give words to the experience of parents and babies, combined with her passion for blending music therapy techniques with concepts from psychology, to help thousands of parents feel like they know what they’re doing.

Over the years I've had the honor of working with many military families. As a part of our continuing series of "How others do bedtime routine" we're sharing how two families with deployed husbands do bedtime routine for their multiple kids. In this podcast two Little Z's graduate families share their story of how they complete bedtime routines for their families, and what a good night of sleep means to them.
YOU'LL HEAR THESE STORIES:
Alex Arnold is a mom of 3 kids whose husband is in the military and is currently deployed. Her kids are 3.5 years old, 2 years old, and 5 months old. Alex shares how she manages dinner, bedtime, and everything in between all by herself.
2:06 - Introduce your family
3:11 - Tell us about your unique situation
4:04 - What does dinner routine look like?
7:04 - What happens after dinner?
8:09 - How do you do bedtime?
13:01 - Why were sleep training programs so important for your family?
15:36 - What tips do you have for other moms?
Jessica Jeremiah is a mom of 2 kids ages 9 and 2 years old. Her husband has been in the navy for 16 years and is currently deployed. Listen as Jessica shares such great experience and wisdom as an independent mom.
18:32 - Introduce your family and unique situation
21:11 - Talk us through your schedule
27:06 - How does your older child help with bedtime routine?
28:06 - Talk about the ’10-minute clean-up’
29:40 - What tips do you have for other moms?
Share this episode with a military family you know who is getting ready for deployment. I know this will be an encouragement for them!
This is a podcast in a series on how REAL families do their bedtime routines for their kids. This week I have 3 amazing moms who are all solo parenting while Dad is at work.
Sarah- Has 2 young boys and husband is a detective who leaves home at 2PM until late nights
Catherine- Has 1 young son and husband is a nurse who works night shifts
Lindsay- Has 1 young toddler and husband works on-call for the railroad
Each mom has their own unique story and family and I've asked them to share how THEY do their routines solo. We recorded these as three separate interviews and pieced them together in a way that covers three main topics:
1) Share what is unique about their family
2) Share tips they have for solo parenting
3) Walk us through what your schedule/routine looks like
Last, I want to remind you that these are amazing moms who have made decisions that are right for their family - and that is what this is all about - so as much as I encourage you all to leave reviews and comments, let’s be mindful that these are great moms who have courageously joined me on the podcast to put their stories out there to the world...and that is what I love so much about our Little Z’s families.

Throughout the year Little Z's hosts families on my Instagram to show how THEY do their sleep routines and manage their families. On those days the viewership SKYYROCKETS and we know it's because, as Michael Alsop says, you want to know "OH! Other people don't do it exactly like Becca teaches!" No! Everyone takes their own spin on routines post-sleep training...and that's the hope!! My goal is that families feel empowered with their new sleeper and can become flexible knowing they have the tools needed to keep their great sleeper.
Today on the Podcast I'm kicking off a series of how OTHER families do bedtime routines. First up is Katelyn & Michael Alsop, parents to Everly (3) & Graham (1) and a baby boy James in heaven. On this episode Katelyn & Michael share their bedtime routine with me, as well as updates on sleep apnea for Evy, taking the pacifiers away for Graham and what they look forward to after the kids go down.
As wedding photographers, Katelyn and Michael average 8-10 weddings annually while teaching thousands of photographers through their online courses. They are passionate about traveling, home design, & spending time dreaming and brainstorming with their closest friends! Katelyn has recently launched a new podcast focused on what she's learning as a wife, mother and friend along her journey. >>Listen to the Legacy Podcast

Trapped for naps all day at home?? Yep, been there! A few years ago my oldest was on a 1 nap schedule and my youngest was rocking 2 naps. That meant that we had maybe 1.5 hours between naps, and then an awkward gap at the end of the day when no one wanted to hang out...and gym classes weren't meeting. So, I took matters into my own hands! I manipulated our nap schedule so that I could get out and enjoy a yoga class!
In this episode I teach you:
- How to know if this is a right fit for your baby
- What I did to manipulate my daughter's nap schedule
- How much sleep a 6-12 month baby needs each day
- What bending the rules and enjoying a great sleeper is like!

Birds & Bees is located in Dallas, Texas and through online courses as well as local classes that teach families about how to ditch "the talk" for updated conversations weaved through their childhood about anatomy and sex.
WHAT YOU'LL LEARN:
1. How to craft a family message (Mary Flo)

I firmly believe there are NO secrets in sleep training. When it's time to sleep train your baby there's actually only a few different methods that you can use, and most sleep consultants are only trained in 1-2 of those methods. In today's episode I share exactly what methods I'm trained in, what I use in my sleep training plans and how you can expect success. You'll get full clarity from this episode!

The answer is NO!!! It's not! I firmly believe it's never too late to teach a child to sleep. (That's why adult sleep consultants are a thing!)
On today's episode I'm speaking with Jessica who recently completed the Preschool Sleep E-Coaching™ Program with her 3 year old daughter Lucy. Jessica shares it ALL! When polled about when the last date night was, it was almost like crickets. But then! When asked "What's holding you back from getting a babysitter?" the flood gates opened! And I actually didn't feel 100% qualified to come and tell YOU how to manage it. So I called up my mom, the wisest person I know, and invited her on the show to talk through it!
We talk through these replies:
"I don't trust anyone with my child but me."

I recently had a mom ask, “My 1 year old wakes up multiple times a night to nurse. Is that normal?”
My response? OUR CULTURE says it’s normal. But that’s not what we should be considering normal.
Our culture says:
-Coffee first
-Rock them, they’re only little once.
-It’s a phase, one day they’ll sleep.
-I’m tired as a mother.
A well rested Mom says:
-I can enjoy my child more.
-My baby is happier and thriving.
-I’ll actually remember this time of parenting, instead of surviving.
-I’m a happier mom becasue we sleep.
Not only is this real, you can hear a REAL story from Ana at the end of this episode.

WORK THROUGH BECCA'S E-COACHING
Choosing a Sleep Consultant is a big deal! You're inviting them into your home (literally or virtually!) to change your family's sleep situation. While in many part of the world, having a Sleep Consultant is very normal...here in the United States it's still "Wait, that's a thing?" YES! We can help your child sleep! Who wouldn't want that?!
In this episode Becca shares 3 ways you can know if a certain Sleep Consultant is right for you, and 3 things that you need to do to see success with them!
- Find Your Preference: Looking for someone to come into your home? Prefer to work virtually? CIO? No-Cry Sleep? Or somewhere in the middle? There are so many different ways you can engage in sleep training, so just spend some time getting to know what's out there!
- Know Their Personality: You're about to get really intimate with this person! For a few weeks we'll be coaching you through the emotional rollercoaster that is sleep training, and you'll want to make sure you like the person coaching you! Before you begin any 1:1 coaching, hop on the phone with the Consultant and make sure you like their personality and they make you feel comfortable (never judging you!).
- Are They Practical For Your Family: Does your little one have a medical condition they need to know about? Ask if they've ever worked with this before, and see if they are willing to lean + grow by working with you. What abut their cost? While a good night sleep is actually priceless, don't ever hire cheap help- and know what you're getting with your investment!
Want to know more about Becca? READ HERE! Or, listen to more Podcast episodes!
Finally, when you commit to working with a consultant, please be mindful of these 3 things:
- Be committed. Don't go off sticking your nose in other strategies or consultants or blogs. Trust the person you've decided to work with!
- Be honest. I always want my clients to share what they are thinking and feeling, otherwise I can't help them fully!! We're all a team, so keep your consultant in the loop on how you're doing emotionally during this process.
- Be nice. The golden rule, right? Treat others as you would wish to be treated. It's easy to be rude when you're not seeing results. But being honest about your frustrations is the nice way- being rude about things won't get you far! Just be nice to the person who is working their butt off to help you!

Over the years I've talked with so many families who are READY...and many families who want to make change, but aren't ready to commit. I'm sharing 3 ways you know you're ready to GET STARTED and make lasting change.
SLEEP TRAINING BY AGES:
- NEWBORN- no sleep training! It's time to lay the foundation for great sleep with my Newborn Course.
- 4 MONTHS- Time to teach baby to self-soothe, and narrow it down to 1 good night feed...eat eat eat during the day!! We also want to establish a great napping routine for baby.
- 5 MONTHS + - Let's sleep all night!! We need to teach baby that sleep IS a thing, and they are in control! At 6 months we are working towards a solid nap schedule.
- TODDLER + - It's never too late to make great sleep! Yes it gets harder as the child ages, but that doesn't mean it's impossible! We're aiming for 10-12 hours of night sleep and (if under 3 years) a nice mid-day nap. The key? Sleep should be stress-free!!

Raise your hand if your child is the master of the 30 minute nap?! Or maybe you've nailed it down to exactly 33 minutes?!
Yes, I hear that ALL the time! Short naps are for sure a common theme with my clients, and we work hard to solve them!
What's the reason behind them? Daytime sleep cycles around about (you guessed it) 30 minutes! So typically the child is waking up after one sleep cycle and not really sure how to go back to sleep.

Hey there! I’m Becca Campbell, your pediatric sleep consultant, and this is the Little Z’s Sleep Podcast Episode #31 - all about toddler clocks. This is very fresh in my memory because if you’ve been following me on instagram @littlezsleep you have seen the journey of my two girls and why we have recently implemented our clock.
On today’s podcast I’m actually going to treat this like you are my client, and I’m going to walk through why you might need a toddler clock, how you should set it up, which types and brands I prefer, and give you some realistic expectations for using them. I know it might sound as easy as throwing a clock in their room and off you go, but there’s actually a lot to it! We have to ease them in.
In this episode I'm reviewing:
-What age to use a toddler clock
-How to introduce the new clock
-What types I recommend (see links below)
-Setting expectations for the first few mornings
-How to motivate your child to use them

FULL REVIEW FROM MOM:
"Becca helped us tremendously and I highly recommend her. We were having problems with our 3.5 year old fighting bed time (kicking and screaming for 2 hours per night), waking up in the night and only wanting to be consoled by daddy, and waking up before 6 a.m. We were hopeless and fearful that he would wake up our 16 month old, so catered to his demands. Becca helped us immediately and after 1 week, we consistently had 0 night wakings and bedtime wasn't a fight. To be completely honest, I was skeptical that she could help us, thinking I'd read books and articles on my own and nothing would help, he just didn't need sleep. But, that wasn't true and my husband and I are both happy with our decision to seek help, particularly with Becca. Her advice and custom plan helped us tackle bedtime routine in an aligned way. She also talked through scenarios when our 15 month old unexpectedly started having sleep issues. I can say that we wouldn't have the peaceful nights that we are having now without her. She has given us back our free time at night, which is truly invaluable." -Virginia, mom to 3.5 year old boy

Have you ever felt nervous about sleep training because you wanted to continue nursing, but you were told you couldn't possibly sleep train while nursing?
The idea that you have to either choose SLEEP or NURSING is totally mythical. You can do both!
On today's podcast I'm asking Lactation Educator (and former client) Carly Looney all about this idea that we have to give up nursing to sleep train.
Spoiler: She is nursing her 16 month old while we talk, so it IS a myth!
Carly shares how it is possible to both nurse and sleep train. We also talk about how to maintain your supply during the process while keeping comfortable during the night when your baby sleeps through!

Throughout my work with clients I've found Nightmares and Night Terrors are vastly misunderstood. On today's episode I aim to educate you on the difference between night mares and night terrors, as well as give you strategies to help you child cope with either one.
Nightmares
- Nightmares tend to occur several hours after going to bed or in the very early hours of the morning during REM sleep.
- Children DO respond to comfort and reassurance. They also may be reluctant to go back to sleep until they feel safe.
- Nightmares occur during the stage of sleep when the brain is very active and sorting through experiences and new information for learning and memory. Since these images are so vivid your child might not be able to distinguish what’s real and what’s not real.
Night Terrors
- Night Terrors tend to occur 2-3 hours after going to bed and during deep non-REM sleep.
- Only children ages 2.5 years + can experience a night terror
- Children DO NOT respond to efforts of comfort and reassurance and it’s best not to wake them during a Night Terror.
- Children will not remember Night Terrors and are not awake during their episodes. There are no mental images for the child to recall from their experience.
Overtiredness is one main cause for both night mares and night terrors. To help your child work through these, try adjusting their bedtime 15 minutes earlier to see a difference in their sleep.

Waking up between 4-6am is the most common (and most frustrating) problem my clients experience! And guess what? I actually expect this problem to arise once your child learns to consistently sleep 11-12 hours. So how do we fix it? In this episode I'm sharing strategies to solve your child's early morning wakes by sharing two case studies from former clients.
Check the Environment:
1. Create a room that is as dark as possible. >>THESE are my favorite blackout window covers!
2. White noise to protect your child's room from the environment >>This is my favorite white noise machine!
3. No distractions in the crib or bed!
Now stop doing this:
1. Instant gratification!
2. Delay first bottle/nursing session
3. Avoid instant snuggles/snoozes in your bed
**Remember to give it some time! Once you begin implementing strategies it can take 4-6 weeks to "re-wire" your child's habits!**

It's the day NO ONE wants to come: time to say goodbye to the nap!
Personally, I dreaded the nap drop but it's now turned into a fun opportunity to watch my daughter increase her independent play skills...and sometimes sneak off for midday dates just the 2 of us!!
In this episode I'm talking through WHEN it's time to drop the nap, HOW to do it, WHAT to do instead of napping and WHY you might need to keep that nap.
>>Grab a FREE quick-guide photo for Quiet Times HERE<<
When To Drop The Nap:
- Typically between age 2.5 - 3.5 years old
Signs To Look For When Dropping The Nap:
- Fighting the nap 5/7 days for 2-3 weeks (crying, playing in the crib, not settling for sleep)
- Taking a great nap but taking hours to fall asleep at night (stalling tactics, not settling for sleep, crying out or playing in crib)
- Waking very early in the morning (4-5am) and feeling ready to start the day
How To Eliminate The Nap:
- Talk to your child about how they won't have to nap anymore: "Hey ___! Guess what! You don't have to take a nap anymore! Instead, every day after lunch you'll have quiet time where you can ____________ (read, draw, look at books, play-doh, pretend play, etc)."
- Take it away! Cold turkey!
- It will take your child 4-6 weeks to adjust to being awake for 11-12 hours a day, so for the first few weeks you'll be offering an early bedtime (5:30/6pm sounds crazy, but you'll realize they might need it!!)
- Once they seem adjusted (better mood, able to keep normal attitude throughout the evening) get them back on track to normal bedtime.
- I suggest 7-8pm bedtime for children ages 2.5-5 years old
Quiet Time Activites:
- Be creative!!
- Have your child set a timer to mark the start and end of their quiet time
- You'll find they cannot handle a pure hour at first, so start small with 15-20 minutes and slowly build up to an hour
- Create a basket/bin with activities they love: play-doh, drawing pads, markers, etc
- Allow them to play with that basket ONLY at Quiet Time and re-fill with things as needed
- For the first few days/week you might need to guide your child in what to do and how to have an independent quiet time
- DO NOT allow TV, tablets, phones, etc as these actually stimulate the brain not restore it
- TV or games on a tablet are allows after the quiet time
- Grab a free photo-guide: "Quiet Time Expectations" here!
Keeping The Nap:
- Every now and then I am in situations where we have to keep the nap (daycare, parents work late and can't do 7pm bedtime, etc). That's oaky! If your child is easily sleeping during the day, but fighting bedtime, we can keep the nap and adjust bedtime.
- If your child is sleeping during the day I would cap the nap to no more than 2 hours and adjust bedtime between 8-9pm.
- Find the best bedtime for your child by starting at 8pm, and adjusting 15 minutes later every few days until you find the best place where they fall asleep within 10 minutes and sleep 9-10 hours.

Wondering when it's time to make the change from 3 to 2 naps? Or take the leap from 2 to 1 nap?
I hear from my clients all the time, "Becca! Give me a schedule!" or "Is it the right time to go down to one nap?"
On today's episode I'm laying it all out for you! How to handle the transition from 3 to 2 naps and 2 to 1 nap.
This episode is heavy on the numbers, so to help guide you visually use these downloads below to really solidify your child's schedule.
>>DOWNLOAD YOUR CHILD'S 2 NAP SCHEDULE<<

The biggest takeaway when making the change in nap schedules is to give your child 4-6 weeks to actually *sync* with the new routine. It will take time and consistency for your little one to understand their new sleep expectation, but keep on carrying through!!

After working with hundreds of families, I've heard parents ask me LOTS of questions. These are the most frequently asked Dad questions I receive. I love talking through these questions with them, and then turning them into sleep believers!!
>> Download the 13 questions Dads most frequently ask me HERE!
When I speak with a family and Mom says, "I'm ready. But my husband said no because ___________." There are actually three responses I get most often:
1. "...He wants us to try one more thing."
2. "...He says this is just a phase."
3. "...He doesn't think we need to hire someone."
Now I will say Moms have these questions too, it's just that Dads tend to voice them much more strongly. On today's episode I'm answering these three "My husband says no because..." and sharing 10 more here!

There is NO manual that comes with your baby! But now!!! You have Sleep From The Start: Online Newborn Course. My Online Newborn Course is designed to help the expecting mom, the new mom, or the mom again. Perfect for babies 0-12 weeks old, this course will help you lay expectations and routines for baby...creating sanity for everyone!
This episode is just a 12 minute segment from a one hour interview with Dr. Janet West, Pediatrician (RVA Baby), that you'll get IN the Newborn Course! We answered questions like: What is the difference between gas drops and gripe water? What is gripe water?! How can I know if my baby has reflux? Can you overdose on saline spray?! Can I bring my baby to the beach?
Ready to get started with Little Z's Online Newborn Course?! Learn more here!!
Here are Dr. West's tips to find a Pediatrician:
1) American Academy of Pediatrics- find a board certified doctor
2) Understand that your relationship with your Pediatrician is more than a service, it's a personal relationship. "It's like shopping for a mate! When you're in distress, you want someone who can be there to support you."
3) Make sure the doctor office is available for visits!!
4) Doesn't just have to be a Pediatrician- can be a Family Physician you have a great relationship too!
5) Consider your needs: are you high needs? Do you need someone to answer your questions all the time?
6) Two ways to go with finding a practice: Large Practice with weekend and extended hours vs. Small Practice. Pros and cons to both!
Going with a Large Practice? Ask these questions:
- How often do I find my primary care doctor?
- Will I see them for every well visit?
- When I call- do you have a nurse available for questions right away? Is my doctor available if I need to talk with them?
- How fast will you get back with me? 2 hours? 24 hours?
- When I call at night- who will I speak to?
- Will there be a nurse to answer my questions to decide if I should bring my baby in to the doctor?
- When you visit the practice, are there a lot of families there?

Stepping out of my own head today and breaking down what a sleep prop is, when they are useful, and when we need to think about ditching them.
Sleep Prop Breakdown By Age:
Newborns- pacifiers, swaddles, rocking, bouncing...anything! These sleep props are so needed because newborns cannot self-soothe. But we do need to use them correctly! Check out Sleep From The Start: Online Newborn Course to learn ALL about newborn sleep!
Baby- around 4 months old your baby can learn self-soothing strategies so we need to begin the prop elimination! White noise, darkness, sleep sacks, thumb-sucking, or anything THEY control!
Toddler- stuffed animals, blankets, even family photos are great sleep props for toddlers and preschoolers.
Ready to ditch the sleep props and teach your child to sleep independently? Let's get started!

A pause from strategies and plans, and simply talking with a mom about soaking up the newborn phase.
Today I'm chatting with Rachel Camfield, wife to Brian and mom to Barnes (4 months). I've been following Rachel on Instagram and have so enjoyed watching her soak up all things newborn. I wanted to have her share her story about how she consciously chooses to be present and live in the moment (something that I had a lot of trouble doing!).

You ask, I answer! Here are three questions that came in this week from instagram @littlezsleep
Question #1: What is it like to work with a sleep consultant? Let me share with you what I look for and how I get a family started
Question #2: What else can I do besides using a timer to get my toddler ready for bed and wind them down? I always say there is no one magic solution, but let me give you a few things to think about.
Question #3: How do I wean off the pacifier? It’s simple…let me tell you.
Do you have a question? Message me @littlezsleep on instagram or Let’s Talk at littlezsleep.com/getsleepnow
Is your child's bedtime routine taking an hour or more each night? "One more book!" "Potty!" "More hugs!" "One more ____!"
The bedtime stalling game is just that...a game!! Let me give you the winning move with this simple little tool that will completely change your bedtime routine while letting your child win!
My favorite way to combat the bedtime stalling game is a timer! Yep, and not just ANY timer but the Time Timer.
Using the Time Timer as a way to teach your child time management but also entice them to bed WHILE enjoying the routine takes the stress out of bedtime!
In this episode Becca lays out your plan of how to use the timer for each portion of the bedtime routine, and specifically details WHY this timer works! (No longer YOU saying, "Time for bed!")

This episode is all about answering a few of those “Sticky Questions” I am always asked. But let me ask you one first…
- Why are parents so quick to comfort their child when crying, yet they themselves are willing to go so long with uncomfortable, sleepless nights?
- How long is too long for a child to cry?
- How long is too long for a parent to finally cry out for help?
Join me as I share with you my sleep philosophy that has helped hundreds of families resolve those exhausting sleep habits.
Two of the most common questions parents are either embarrassed or nervous to ask are:
#1 - Will you be telling me to do Cry It Out?
Let me explain to you what this really means, what some pediatricians have said about it, and my philosophy on crying when working with families.
#2 - How long should my baby be crying?
Have your pen and paper ready… I’m about to give you the magic number! Just kidding. I explain how you should sleep train with a plan and purpose, not a magic number. There is also power in accountability, and I will share with you a personal experience on this. In this episode I talk about one of my newest and most popular ways to work with families: Virtual Group Coaching. Join the next group and Get Sleep Now!
My Motto: A baby who is well rested is happier, healthier, and eager to explore the world around them.

This episode will help set you free! Free from what you might wonder? Well just when you think you’ve figured out the newborn phase and settled into a new normal, everything changes! Your child will now only go to sleep in your arms, becomes way more dependent on you, and you are more exhausted than ever!
Welcome to the 4-Month regression. Yes, it’s a thing! Moms of newborns are anxious about it, and moms of 8-month olds are wondering why in the world things are getting worse when they should be getting better
In this episode I will talk about this 4-month regression and how it is really a progression! Baby has reached some milestones, and it is time to arm yourself with the tools on how to deal with it.
I will also give you some action steps to help you gain that sleep independence.
#1: Get out of the swaddle, Get into a SleepSack.
Your baby can’t learn to self-soothe when rolled up like a little burrito. It’s time to transition out of a swaddle and into a SleepSack. Which SleepSack? I have you covered.. grab my SleepSack guide at littlezsleep.com/sleepsack
#2: Naps On-The-Go must GO!
When was the last time you slept in the car and woke up feeling wonderful and refreshed? Um..Never! At 4-months old baby loses the ability to transition out of a car and into a crib. Let me give you some tips to make sure you won’t be a prisoner of your own home while still being able to get great naps.
#3: Beware, or “Be-Aware” of Awake Times
Finding that sweet spot on how long to stay awake and when to take a nap is hard, and too many people miss the mark! Let me give you some helpful guidelines on awake times at this age. If you keep your baby awake until they ‘crash’, it will only crash YOUR night!
Bonus #4: Get Dad involved
The amount of time mom spends with baby is often disproportional to dad. Lets face it.. only mom can nurse, and there is something about a mom’s touch… It’s time for TEAM MOM AND DAD. Let me share with you the two best places to get Dad involved in the bedtime routine, and why Dads are often better at this one particular thing than moms are!

You might be wondering how my clients feel about me exposing all of their dirty laundry for the world to see…
You are probably asking…
-What if I become a client? Will she share about me?
-Isn’t the client-consultant relationship special? Private? Confidential?!?!
But would you believe it is my CLIENTS who are now sharing with everyone their mischievous ways!! Why? Because they know what a BIG difference coming clean made to their sleep story, and they want everyone to know it!
These 10 simple things they thought were ‘no big deal’ for me to know about ended up becoming (in many cases) the BIGGEST barrier to resolving those exhausting sleep habits.
Listen, you can try to keep your ‘secrets’ from me… but the one thing you can’t hide from your spouse, your friends, your boss, (or yours truly!) is that you are EXHAUSTED! Am I right?
Working through these things is by no means EASY, because sleep training isn’t easy! But sometimes you have to give the problem a name, call it what it is, take it to task, hang it out to dry, and wipe your hands clean of it. Are you ready?
Download the FULL List of 10 Things My Clients Try To Hide!
____________________________________________________
#1: Disagreement - When Mom and Dad are on Different Pages
Shouldn’t parents be working on making their child’s sleep easier instead of making their marriage harder? I quickly discover the happy smiling (and tired) couple I consulted with forgot to mention one little thing... they saw things differently! Dad wanted to take a more aggressive approach to sleep training, but Mom wanted a softer strategy. Mom was going to try to power through alone, but Dad wanted to be more involved.
#2: Tolerance - When crying becomes too much
Your child’s crying is what I call a pain point, and nobody enjoys admitting when they are in a lot of pain. Parents come to me desperate and exhausted - ready to do absolutely anything to get their child to sleep. But what my clients often hide from me is how they REALLY feel about crying. It is easy to commit in the moment to following a new plan with all of the strength and resolve you can muster, but when your child is relentlessly crying and protesting the new changes, your paternal instincts kick in and nothing will stop you from reacting. You thought you could tolerate it, but then reality hit.
#3: Pacifier - A quick fix, a lasting problem
I’m going to step on some toes here! Around 4 months old it's time to ditch the pacifier. There are three ways it becomes a bad habit and I need you to steer clear!! a) Broken Sleep Habits b) Speech Delay c) Improper Dental Development
#4: Rock N Play - it's not called the Rock N Sleep!
Probably the #1 Baby Item out there and here I am telling you to avoid it!! Trust me, I'm doing you a huge favor! The RNP keeps baby all snug and cozy, which is totally fine! But the issue lies in long naps and night sleep in this product that is known to cause flat-head syndrome and inability to teach him/her to self-soothe.

PODCAST EPISODE 1 - DREAMING BIG
Hey! I'm Becca Campbell, Your Pediatric Sleep Consultant. This is the Little Z Sleep Podcast! It’s Episode 1!
I want to take a few minutes to welcome you, encourage you, give your high-five and a hug and say... let’s resolve your child’s exhausting sleep habits! In case you want to know a little about me before we dive in…
I haven’t always been a sleep consultant, but I have always loved sleep!
- When I was little, I loved sleeping beauty.
- When I was younger I didn’t even want to be rocked, I just wanted to go to bed
- Flash forward to college, I would obsess and count every night I got 8 hours of sleep. In fact I did ONE all-nighter and it was TERRIBLE. Sleep has always been precious to me!
So, when we had our first daughter, we didn’t know what to do with ourselves, we were exhausted
- Up multiple times throughout the night
- We were both career parents working jobs, it was miserable every night not knowing what to expect hours on end
- I was struggling, even with PPD, I didn’t understand, beating myself up,
- Sleep is the foundation of help, and we just weren’t sleeping
- We didn’t understand why baby wasn’t sleeping… see pictures and videos of sweet newborns sleeping snug on mom and dad, and we barely had any of that
- Not only was it misery, it became extremely dangerous - share stories
- Ended up working with a consultant after sitting down on google (like every exhausted parent) and typed “how do I get my baby to sleep” and became overwhelmed and things that promised a good night’s sleep
- But I wanted help, after I tried and failed to do it myself. I’m so tired, I don’t know what I’m doing, I can’t teach myself
- Sleep is not complex, but putting the pieces together often is
- Some people understood my joy after success, others didn’t
- Maybe that is you… you are so excited and now want to maintain that every night, or maybe you are tired and are just trying to survive
- I don’t judge, my goal is to resolve and change the habits.
As we walk through this podcast together, that is the goal! Resolve your child's exhausting sleep habits. Together!
Biggest question I have for you: what do you want to see differently?
When I understand your goal and what you dream of, what you want to wave that magic wand over where you want to be, that is how I know I can help you.
So often we are dreaming small. If you are up 1 times a night or 4 times a night, it doesn’t matter, you have an end goal of wanting to sleep well, and when parents are desperate for just 8 hours or 6 hours of sleep, I say great, we are going to do that, and I’m going to double it for you.
We are going for 12 hours a night
What I love is giving and providing them the tools to get this, and that is what my job is all about!
I work with kids from Day 1 to 7 Years old- and no matter the age it has everything to do with habits and guiding parents!
A few months back Daniel called me from the hospital. They just had their daughter Lilly and he did not want trial and error. He wanted to get it right the first time.
While parenting is trail and error, but I don’t want your sleep story to be trial and error. That is why this podcast exists, to talk to you, teach you, and equip you with exactly what to do and how to do it and be able to provide you with solid sleep that lasts a lifetime
That is my belief, when we resolve your child’s sleep, it is a gift that lasts a lifetime.
So I can be on the other side, flash forward 3 years, and my daughter is sleeping 12 hours every single night, and we have a second daughter, sharing a room, and even great naps (another story letter)
For now, spread the word to friends and sleep deprived moms that this podcast is for you!!!
Tune in every week with me as we walk through ways and strategies and stories to get your family the sleep that they deserve.
Sweet dreams & see you next time
Becca Campbell
