1 for you. 1, 2 for me. (That's how I pass out the ribs.)
7 years strong, "You Gots To Grill" is the essential soundtrack for your backyard BBQs. Inspired by the cookout in Dr. Dre's "Nuthin' But A G Thang" video, it delivers a perfectly marinated mix of hip-hop, funk, soul, samples and a few new flavors to keep the party on till the break of dawn. Put a fresh crease in your khaki suit and make yourself a plate.

Back in the fall of '08, Dave Nada dropped a mix for MDWWR titled "Love In This Bmore Club", highlighting the softer side of what was at the time, the driving force in club music. Bmore club was every DJ's best friend, allowing you to transition into anything from Nu Metal to new wave at the drop of a hat. 6 Years and a million soundcloud bootlegs later, Jersey club kids along with some help from a few talented Norwegians, are carrying the flag for a new generation, creating hyper club friendly renditions of everything from Bill Withers to Bobby Smurda. We thought it would be rad to have Dave Nada return, this time bringing along his party-starting wife Jen Lasher, for another round of sexy time jams highlighting the best Jersey club has to offer.

Well, Bird Peterson had another one left in him. After killing the dirty south monster known simply as Drankenstein, Mr. Peterson went to heaven to see what he was up to. As it turns out, Drankenstein was burning in the darkest depths of hell. And by burning, I mean setting the young devils and devilettes hearts a flutter with a brand new collection of simultaneous forward and backward time machine treats. Here's round two of his acclaimed "Lace & Lean" edition. Enjoy!

In celebration of James "J Dilla" Yancey's 40th birthday,
House Shoes presents the first half of the follow up to his
critically acclaimed "The King James Version" mix, paying
tribute to one of, if not the best producer in hip-hop's history
by strolling through some more of the records that were mined
by Dilla for his productions. From jazz, to soul, to moog and
electronica and more, this mix serves as a reminder to show how
broad the range of music that inspired him was. Taken from all original vinyl. No youtube rips. No mp3s. None of that bulllshit.

"I wanted this mix to reflect how freaky and beautiful Daniel Palillo's clothing looks and feels. I also wanted it to reflect how beautiful and freaky 80/160 bpm can be not just Juke but also pitched & edited all sorts of stuff like Dj Nephets, Bitch Ass Darius, Kraftwerk Live, Metallica, Janes Addiction,PartySquad, rave, gabber, new jack & bubbling, to 160. The mix starts with a recent collaboration I did with Alex XXXChange, a mix of Bollywood and Raggamuffin." ~Jahan Lennon
Just in time for Halloween and to kick off the dead rising of Mad Decent World Wide Radio, check out this creepy and moody mix of synth soundtracks. This is the perfect mix to scare the crap out of kids coming to your door. Dave Fogg is the XS nightclub resident DJ for our MAD DECENT MONDAYS monthly party in Vegas. He teams up with our own artist/producer Derek "DJA" Allen to crack open their collective stash of synthesized selections. Giallo thrillers, tech noir, avant garde vampires, and heroic bloodshed are just some of the movies represented here. The tracks range from rare to recent and fans of prog rock will also find some nice pieces of candy in there.

What is system d-128? is it a man, a machine, a monster, a movie?
Its a pseudonym created by Brian Torres Korlofsky also known as his high school nickname Duey FM. The idea of the name system d-128 comes from his father's colorful and futuristic looking blank vhs tapes that were used to record many television programs,
examples of blank video cassettes are: TDK Avilyn T-120, Polaroid Supercolor T-160, Maxell Epitaxial E-180. System d-128 is a dj, an avid film and record collector, a producer, a director & editor to name a few of his skills, not to mention he has worked off & on with Diplo/Mad Decent since the 1st recordings and videos. This mix is a combination of rare records, awesome music, movie soundtracks, layers of sounds, multi genre's/tempo's and recordings from the unknown.

See if you can match the tunes to the films. Moody and lurking, you ride to this and it will put some serious brain movies in your head.

Diplo's spent the past week or so down in South America Shooting a crazy new Bonde Do Role Music Video and performing all over the place. Only appropriate to drop this new Kassiano mixtape he made for us consisting of all the 2011 Baile Funk bangers that you may have a missed this year.
Catch Diplo performing in RIO de janeiro Tonight and at Privilege Club in Bogotá, Colombia this Friday!
Kassiano about the mix:
Baile funk aint dead its just always changing! if you've been up on baile funk music for a while this prob wont be what you expect, and if you're new to it then just chill and imagine that you are in rio going to a huge crazy ass party in the middle of nowhere with walls of speakers blasting ignorant amounts of bass while everyone from young kids to grown people are drinking whiskey/red bulls and partying and grinding to these songs until morning time! funk music always seems to do its own thing and evolve into whatever it wants. sometimes it stagnates (it did for a couple years) but now i feel like its going into a cool phase so i wanted to do a mix with some of whats bumping in brazil right now.
Kassiano

ZEDS DEAD, the newest addition to the Mad Decent line-up, has exploded on the scene in a big way and they've been gracious enough to put together this mixtape for our 69th MDWWR Podcast. With only a few official releases under their belt, Toronto's ZEDS DEAD (Hooks & DC) have risen to the top of a new generation of bass music through a relentless tour schedule and America's newfound love for dubstep. ZEDS differentiate themselves from the pack with amazing bootleg remixes like "White Satin" and a super smart live show that has been smashing audiences everywhere for the past year (they got the biggest crowd reaction by far at our 2011 New York Block Party). Their debut EP "Rumble in the Jungle" comes out on October 4th. Preview the EP below.

Lloyd and I throw a party in New York called "WORK". It's the first Thursday of every month at the Submercer in Soho which is really dark, literally underground, has low ceilings, red lights and a booming sound system. In other words, it's a perfect place to play house and techno records for some crazy dancers. We've been doing the party for a year now and it only gets better every month. The night usually lasts about 6 or 7 hours so I edited together some of the highlights from last month's party for this podcast. I also like to record the room so you can sorta feel like you're there!

"Salad Days" is a hardcore punk mix that Nadastrom and DJ Stereofaith pieced together. Having been raised by the DC punk and hardcore scenes in the late 80s and 90s, they give a nod to their musical roots and continue to refer to the DIY ethos as working DJs and producers. The "Salad Days" mixtape is a celebration of the energy and passion of punk and hardcore music.

I hope you like the lil mix we whipped up. The track listing is below. Let us know your favorite Ghetto House jams and Dancemania joints.

TOLD NOT SOLD PT 1: THE ROOTS OF BALTIMORE CLUB
This is the first in a series of mixes intending to eventually cover every notable release in the history of the Baltimore Club sound. The combination of New York and Chicago house, as well as UK breakbeat/rave era tunes from the late '80s and early '90s, provided the sound's genesis. American labels like Strictly Rhythm and Dancemania, along with UK imprints such as Blapps! and Shut Up & Dance, found a home in every soon to be Club King's crates, and bits and pieces of what came to be known as Baltimore Club can be heard throughout their grooves. For an absolutely CRUCIAL play by play of some of the records that started the scene, DJ Technics has compiled a list (http://www.baltimoreclubtracks.com/history.htm)
This particular mix is by no means comprehensive. I picked these out more or less because of the similarities between them. The Godfather, Scottie B, called it "proper" and that's all that matters to me! It was recorded all the way live on two turntables and Serato with no headphones, cuz that's how we do it at Ol' Head headquarters. Lots of pops and crackles in the cuts, but I tend to think it gives it a "time capsule" sort of appeal. Super shout out to Scottie B and Shawn Caesar at Unruly Records http://www.unrulyonline.com/ and DJ Stumble for the killer artwork www.myspace.com/stumbol
Here's the tracklisting, along with a word or two from Scottie B to put things in perspective:
1. Andrew Dice Clay - Mother Goose (Dance Club Instrumental)
"Woke Technics out of a sleep over this."
2. Petra & Co - Just Let Go (dub)
"One of those house jawns that bridged club."
3. Oji - Original Man
"Great take on number 2."
4. Masters At Work - The Ha Dance
"See 2."
5. Circle Children - Zulu (Braxton Intro)
"See 2."
6. Pirates Of The Caribbean - Tu No Sabe
"See 2 again...Armand again!!!"
7. Big City - Spanish Lesson
"DJ Freeze...people was like "oh shit!!!""
8. Greed - Give Me
"See 2...house was BIGGGG!!!"
9. S.o.S. - Crank This Mutha
"One of several takes on a DJ Food track."
10. Hoovers & Spraycans - Hoovers & Spraycans
"First ravey jawn for the Baltimore crowd."
11. Stereo MCs - On 33 (45 King Dub)
"One of the linchpins."
12. ? - Let The Pros Go
"UK hip house rules Bmore!!"
13. Barbara Tucker - I Get Lifted The Beat
"See 2 again."
14. KW Griff - Odells Beat
"Modern example of the old school sound."
15. II Da Life - Go
"One of the first Bmores nobody ever mentions."
16. Ultraworld - Life After Death
"See 2 again and again!"
17. The Blunted Dummies - House For All (S-Man's Deep In The Vibe Edit)
"Best selling Unruly jawn ever."
Get ready for Part 2 and by all means ENJOY!

Mad Decent Worldwide Radio #30: BOUNCE IT
Mixed by Emynd
I started listening to Bounce music about two years ago and, over the past couple years, have acquired a pretty extensive collection of CDs, MP3s, and records of this really rich music. For those unfamiliar with Bounce, it is a fairly unique strain of club-oriented hip-hop that originated in New Orleans sometime around 1991 with MC TT Tucker's "Where Dey At." Almost 20 years later, Bounce still dominates the urban club and block party scene in New Orleans with very little major label backing. Just as Baltimore Club is based on the Lyn Collins' "Think" break and the Gaz "Sing Sing" break, Bounce beats are based on samples from The Showboy's "Drag Rap" (aka "Triggerman") and Derek B's "Rock The Beat" drum break (more commonly known as "the Brown Beat"). The best club music seems almost always to thrive on calculated simplicity, and Bounce is no exception, relying on MC work that is based on simple call and response chants, straightforward rhyme schemes/patterns, and repetitive dance refrains. My buddy Noz-- http://www.cocaineblunts.com -- has helped me learn a lot about this music and several years ago (right after Katrina), he put together a really great collection of earlier Bounce songs that you can download (http://www.cocaineblunts.com/blunts/?p=690). Also, the first podcast on New Orleans rap has got some good stuff on it as well.
In contrast to Noz's collection of songs, I made my mix as an effort to put people onto some more recent New Orleans Bounce songs and artists that they likely aren't very familiar with. As you'll notice pretty quickly, I've kept the mixing and DJing to a real minimum and tried to move pretty quickly from song to song to fit in as much stuff is possible. There isn't a real rhyme or reason for most of the selections on here. They're mostly just a bunch of Bounce songs I really like, and I'm hoping some of y'all will enjoy this stuff enough to go and support some of these artists. I've provided links wherever possible to help make that search as easy as I could because a lot of these folks have a pretty strong presence on Myspace. Please hit these dudes up on their Myspace, support their events, and buy whatever you can from them.

To celebrate the release I have done a little mix for Mad Decent radio... Its a little selection of my current favourite tracks and influences all mashed together, From old computer game music, poppy stuff like LadyHawke to the hard electro stuff like The Proxy (Who's current tunes 'Dance in Dark' and Raven are the biggest tunes around!!) Techier stuff like Stephan Bodzin, through Popof, Bumpy Bmore kick drums and loops (DJ Sega and Say Wut). Melodic stuff (Oxia) through to friends and crew (Fake Blood, Crookers) and tracks that are just awesome (Focker)
Anyway, I've only used elements of certain tracks in this mix, but all of them are worth tracking down and listening to. I really wanted to use the horns in the Say Wut thing, but I had real problems getting it all in key. Oh and I decided to try and re-edit the Focker track rather than just play it straight. BLah Blah BLah I hope you enjoy it!

we been round over a year now .. we want to show you what that looks like. in under 6 minutes
a year later that tour guide - Grant (who manages the website whatsupbuenosaires.com and knows everyone in argentine) had started up a party in BA with some other local partners that kinda builds on the cumbia sound but breaks down all the local musics and turns out hip hop and house dancehall and shit its like argentintronix or something and its named after a philosopher (that married a hot argentinian girl) - ZIZEK.. last month was a year into the party and played it and it was nuts.. . its kinda like the local kids are developing the sound and putting it out there with different influences... they had a table selling local producers stuff and the seller dudes was like ìthis one is north argentinian folkstep gauchito cowboy cumbia! this one is psychadelic cumbia! this one is progressive minimal cumbia! this is cumbia-mash...! anyway.. shit was poppin , even in europe - SAMIMs heater was the biggest club tune of the year (techno track samplin a big cumbia - its a take over!)
so I bought a bunch and then had a lil collection of cumbia ish stuff after buggin in and out of there over the last year.... also grabbe stuff from my boys in mexico back in july- Whats up Toy! ----this mix is kinda like a cumbia step best of according to mad decent, i didnt even stay in south america with it - and i didnt put any of Buenos aires own vila diamanteís cumbia mashups in either but if you can find them GRab em- his stuffs is crazy..- http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=85004898
.. ill do something bigger with the sound later in the year... and i suggest you go see Zizek if your ever in buenos aires on a wednesday night , its a movement!
so i guess it was really early for this year!

besides that , tel aviv is a beach city where you can find smoking hookas on the beach and ethiopian kids with sunbleached hair jumpin off rocks all day. its far from the day to day violence that is published and for the most part its a secular city with Arab neighborhoods mixed in and around.. but what i didnt expect on my second visit last month, was to find the music scene still exploding. i went to a bar at 2am to hear Hebrew baile funk tracks and then to a dubstep party filled with .. gasp girls at another bar a few streets out..(this is the day after a national holiday) so I can only imagine how it is around there on the real nights.
so my boy from soulico was djing one of these bars playin mad stuff and he droped the mix by with some demos as well
here is the info

anyway this isnít a political post, just a culturally significant happenin music scene that im seeing out there
Dj soul just did an exclusive mini mix for mad decent radio, because I just wanted to keep people out there knowing he was one of the reasons we do any of the things we do over at mad decent .. and i can do a dilla mix every 2 weeks for gods sake

blaqstarr is a fixture in baltimore. if you didnt know the evolution of the club sound in baltimore, then turning on 92q on a weekday drive time and hearing "get my gun" or "feel it in the air" (on a commercial black radio station) might freak you the fuck out .. it comes out of nowhere, and blaqstarrs sound has taken over the city.. (especially if your under 20) check rocking off or spongebob or wu-tangin on youtube... cause its about 600,000 videos that kids made to blaqstarrs city wide anthems.. wait til you see the EPk we just made at an all ages dance..............
anyway . this mix is mad wierd, loud and scary and still kinda pretty in parts. kinda like baltimore
big day out is finished.. after a few mad shows and afterparties, and solo shows and trips to the bush to do some demos iím nearly on my way home.. things iíve seen here are completely mad... you dont want to battle team mad decent/deadly in footie- just a heads up. im gong to lay down mad decent bush workshop stuff real soon too, it ws some serious things going down in the outback..
special thanks to nina, levins, justice, busy p, bbc and paserock, evet jean , opulent and pennydrop, music NT, kids from manigrida, hot chip, and peaches.... hollaback!

cause james brown gave birth to this podcast and he gave birth to everything in modern music - nothing is the same after he was here and now heís gone and I feel bad for people in heaven that have to rewind through his life cause it must be pretty damn nuts. This mix of JB songs and production credits is under 30 minutes and I thought I was listenin to it for 3 days before it ended.
Mix was done by cosmo baker.. heís a true hero to me.
i used to go to fluid on monday nights to check cosmo at his party called remedy.. it was on fuckin monday nights and it was packed thick and cosmo would drop his signature style of hip hop and classics and wierd stuff no one would expect but would turn it out.. i recognized cosmo as that dude from the on the go video that was in 9th st records and bought funk inc and mccoy tyner lps for like a dollar (that was crazy staged cause I know that dude behind the counter was mad cheap!) .. at the remedy I saw everyone form phil the soulman to cash money to mf doom to Dj drama up in there playing... i even slipped pharell a copy of newsflash on 12î on a monday
so JB gave birth to everything in modern music then cosmo was a dude that gave birth to djs like me. I had to ask him to do this mix cause he was a more then a mentor .. his james brown science is like mr wizard... as you can listen
thees days cosmo is killing it as a member the RUB in BK and doing loads of parties from calgary to tel aviv on the weekends so i suggest you go to see him play or you will lose a little bit of your soul

whats really boa..
i met a bunch of angolan dudes under the lapa arches in Rio in 2005, they were studyin from luanda and had on crazy red black fist and sickle soccer jerseys (the angolan colors) but instead of some sort of soccer ball images it was just a black fist and a turntable and said kuduristas... i didnt even ask what the f**k that meant but I tried to buy the shirt and they almost beat me up.
angolans in brazil have a
fast forward 1 and a half years and im in Lisbon djing a festival with my man dj marlboro from RIo and Buraka som systema (the local heros) .. i tell you , it was pretty bad for me... BSS took the stage and had the whole crowd had reached some type of higher state of conciousness and massive attack (playin on the main stage) asked the promotors to shut our tent down (shook ones!).. so 2 hours late - marlboro equally tore it up and then finally I had to go on in the postponed 5am slot! wtf.. my flight was at 7:30... was kinda wack .. i think hot chip had to wake me up at the airport cause kids were stealing my luggage.
..But at the BSS show i swear it was the first time I recorded like 15 minutes of video with my cellphone and even after it died I sat there and still tried to record with it sittin the air.. this sound was a monster and it got every Portugese kid in the crowd on their knees then hoppin up and down and i was even proud to be Angolan!
I met Petty (lead singer of BSS) and she was wearing havianas with the brasillian flag substituyed with the angolan flag.. a kinda of symbol of how self realized the music is....
shout out to my melhor homies, Kalaf, Lil Joao, and Conduter for showing me around lisbon, breaking down the kuduro and makin a crazy MAD ILL silLY remix for bonde do role thats out next month...... and I see you egg foo (holiday mix comin up next)
Bronx in 1981... what the f**k was goin on here..?!?!?
A subculture that redefined world culture .. imploded in the poorest parts of New York city.. heres a lil peek into the wierd world of this scene..
WHBI, NEWARK, 105.?.....
Afrika Islam is known as the son of Bambaataa, not for real but he followed the legacy and he held it down on the air in Newark radio at 1 am wednesday nights.. (where this mix is from).. its rough cut from cassette tape - eclectic unknown breaks, funk, electronic, rock music chopped together .. like a random symphony for kids of hi energy.. its almost spooky to hear just the bare essentials of what we mastered as producers today.. breakbeats, sparse vocals, or horns or guitars chopped in and out.. this is what we deal with today but back then kids just made it all live with a lot of random records they studied.
Islam was a staple party dj in early 80ís in nyc.. one of the dudes to really cross over with the down town scene and still stay street and shout out all the gangs in harlem and brooklyn.. he then went on to produce most of Ice Tís first record in LA. then like most zulu dudes had to like move to germany when hip hop went crazy with puffy and stuff..
The first time I heard ìits just begunì by jimmy castor was at a warehouse in Tennessee when i was like 15. These kids would bring boomboxes and breakdance on the marble floor. It was the second wave of hip hop culture that went through the midwest mostly on freight trains covered in spray paint, and raves... but we had as much passion as the first b boys.. just mad late- actually I think by then early nineties like Germans and Lithuanians were winning all the breakdance contests anyway.. but that whole s**t changed my life. When i heard the Jimmy castor song and saw kids dancing to it i thought it really did mean something... like the revolution was about to begin.
maybe it did. I started painting on the trailors parked on the 2 lane highway by house when the were building mattress barns and new Shoneyís diners.. I know now how wack mini malls are, But white trailors, trains, mud and fences at night was like all i day dreamed about in the day besides this girl that worked at the donut shop.. so maybe I was part of a revolution?
If you want to read up on ZULU
Davey D pretty much broke it down here
http://www.daveyd.com/zulunationhistory.html
...
its pretty mindblowing how big this s**t is and what it really means..
i mean damn,to say ì if people focused energy on creativity instead of crimeî sounds like something Nancy Reagan would say... but thats exactly what happened and it turned out to redefine the world.. I always say that i do what i do cause of bambaataa and ZULU.. but its really true.
then a chicken and a exclamation point and a countdown happenned and then a picture of the globe ad then it had the dharma initiative logo!
f**k!
no really it got busted though an I just got it back the day after holloween. system d-128 worked hard mkaing a symphony of mayhem and horror (i helped a bit) maybe you can listen to it next october....
to make up i got a special podcast up tommorow.. promise.
in the meantime check out
www.stemspot.com
up there with Big mix, furacao 2000, Pipos... and even Soul grand prix way back when they played soul still at baile funks .. Sany played a party I put together in Prazeres.. its a favela high up near corcovado (where the big jesus from micheal jacksons video stays at!) its probably the highest favela in all of Brazil. If you know my podcast ,, you probably know the drill with Brazillian funk music..
The sounds range from vocal melody, syncopated portugese rhymes.. 5 or 6 extremely overused Samples (pavorati organ hits, rocky theme (chopped to hell), old school miami bass vocal stabs, Dire straghts ìbrother at armsî shows up all the time, Euro techno samples.. and most importantly samba drums (tamberzao, batidao) patterned in an electro rhythm...melody is missing, and repetition is the key.. Dj style is similliar to a dancehall sound in Jamaica.. lyrics are blended by many artists over the same rhythm.. the tempo never changes..... the sound is kinda blowing up worldwide..
But it started somewhere... (that what this special edition is about!) miami bass gave birth to this strange baby in brazil, And the Djís ruled the streets, and built the culture between freestyle, bass, house music and
samba in the early 90ís
Sany did a special mix for mad decent to launch his own carioca funk clube website and podcast ... YOU never hear carioca Djs put it down like this .. Sany had to dig out his actual turntables for this! they stay on the cdj 100 down there!
ITS rio funk party sound track circa 1990.. the first time kids were rapping in portugese over the funk beats.... he puts it out there .. the classics (you got to start with SPRING LOVE!) The musical history told here reflects the first phase of funk, turning from the international influences to a brazilian party, from a inside DJ point of view (don't expect sweet famous standarts, but the rare original dirty PARTY BOOSTERS that made the trick from gringo to ghetto)
you can still catch Sany in Rio 5 nights a week in the clubs and favela bailes. http://pitti.podomatic.com / ITS CRAZY
††http://www.myspace.com/djsanypitbull††for RIO parties and European dates

im just busy right now trying to whoop this MAD DECENT tour up into shape - 25 dates all over the USA this summer..................
so this is it . I fell off and made this super random mix that just is completely a mess. it has the most fascinating music ive heard in the last couple months.. just for being so out of place from aboriginal middleschool hip hop , to ëdo the Frog Backí from Jamaica.... and also featuring uffie and hot chip and ali G (for no good reason)
next episode will be official
backandji boys - down river
Dear Nora & Casiotone For The Painfully Alone- hot boyz

macka - mr teki back accapella
Hot Chip - Kids with guns remix
And as far as music goes (in case you didnt know) . . the mississippi delta is the birthplace of most types of modern american music. Hip hop mighta been born in the bronx, but then it was reinvented in New Orleans.. the krunk we get today playlisted all over the country might have Atlanta in a headlock, but the blueprint was laid out in New Orleans.. Its origins are in bounce music and its still there; its actually having a rejuvenation since there little more to look forward to besides dancing these days.
anyway i never felt more affection for an city like I got it for new orleans, and even though some parts still looks like a nuclear bomb got dropped, its got all the character that you can expect with a city so rich in culture and history

and here is my little mix i made before I go.. i might not make it home! - no its not that serious.. but we are filming a mad party tonight that i sponsored with sany from pitbull sound .. i am on a bill with mr, catra, sapao, duda, and deie tigrona no doubt.
playin music in a favela aint easy.. (eespecially as a gringo) its like a real different language even if you know the funk hits the music kids like out there aint your average radio tracks, lots of ìillegalî tracks must get played or your gonna get the gong show....
anyway. next week some more special s**t..
this week we got exclusives and an interview with the one and only MC gringo. Heís now jumpin the charts here in rio with a wierd ode to the way gringos and crackers from elsewhere dance to the brazillian music.. (or any music i think)
