This week we're talking about the shifts in culture and the musical economy that have brought us to these dire straits. First up: Nuking your successful band to make money off aggrieved uncles. Tommy Vext got kicked out of Bad Wolves and now he's making more dough than ever. Next up: Onstage nü metal breakdowns from one of Jordo's favorites and Christian metal meltdown over the dreaded pussy word. Next: Joe pulls a Chris Jericho by getting mad at the Grammys despite never, ever giving a shit about nor watching the Grammys. GWAR is selling fake drugs instead of huge crack rocks, SAD! We're looking at statements from Spotify CEO Daniel Ek promoting new revenue projections for artists and comparing it with the FUCKING BRUTAL reality of artist payouts using math. Finally, we're reconsidering flat Earth with Stephen Carpenter using science. Don't forget: NEXT WEDNESDAY IS EPISODE 300 SO GET YOUR CALLS IN NOW. Ol Nergie is back. When we last left him he was selling $25 tickets for a livestream performance in a church (OOOOOH) and lying about being kicked out of a YMCA. Now he needs your money. Once again we are finding ourselves in a sad state of No Joe. We assure you he is alive and well, but in his stead, you're once again getting these jams kicked out courtesy of Microphone Mosh Masters, 365 Days Of Horror and Breno. We discuss Mortiis posting relevant news items on his Facebook, Atilla getting sued over sucker punching venue staff, Metallica getting their live stream dubbed over because of rules they started in the first place, and how the internet lost its once lawless, wild west charm. We talk about metalheads their unique proclivity to listen to the same exact shit forever. Of course there's more Iced Earth news that we have to get into as a couple members of the band finally bow out. Also, does a major metal publication utilize bot farms to spread content? Riff-Raff Podcast: A New Flush [Ep. 1 – 2020 Was a Big BM]
52 perc 50. rész Radio Toilet ov Hell
A few things happened in 2020—things that may have taken precedence over scouring the innernette for new black metal (and the subsequent obligatory slog through Metal-archives to search for the "dark heathenism" tag). This week, Rolderathis and Hans have the recap on some whipsaqq BM tracks from yesteryear that may not have been covered on this here water closet. We play new (olde??) music from Montuln, Svrm, Katavasia, Porenut, Fortið and Vital Spirit, as well as [being new at podcasting noises], signing Greek BM petitions, ornamental folk metal instruments, Assassin's Creed jank and a cat named Adam screwing with our production. Big ol' P.S.: Thanks to Lacertilian and Leif Bearikson for the rough format idea and the solid chunk of 'sodes they made under the Riff-Raff name. We'd like to open up the format to any contributor duos who'd like to try it out, but we'll keep the spot warm if y'all get the itch to record again. <3 2020 Music Featured This Week: (intro) Jars - 'Mr. Visionary' from ДЖРС III Montuln – ‘Arquetipo’ from Arquetipo Svrm – ‘Розпад’ from Розпад Katavasia – ‘Hordes of Oblivion’ from Magnus Venator Porenut – ‘Manifest’ from Postnihilera Fortið - 'Insignificant is the Wormking's Throne' from World Serpent Vital Spirit - 'Face of the Suon' from In The Faith That Looks Through Death

BLAST FROM THE PAST: That guy from King 810 was briefly relevant again when he showed up in a vintage Pelle Pelle jacket to storm the capitol. Weird! This week Ian, the fourth mic of the Toilet ov Hell podcast, stepped in to interview Bobby about his insights on playing drums across four decades, how styles and technology change, compartmentalizing his playing approach through genres. I gotta tell ya, it's an absolute joy to hear a metal mainstay like Bobby talk about his experiences playing country music when he's not on the road. It's also a sadly unsurprising to hear that some of his fans don't like country music! Ian gets Bobby to talk about his experiences as a young gun with Juggernaut partly as a response to his brother playing with S.A. Slayer. You'll hear how Bobby's PAINSTAKINGLY recorded a MIDI drum pack at Sound City, the nuances of cymbals, and a tale of his dogs catching a squirrel while doing the interview. RIP squirrel. This is kind of a strange one but I'm feeling kinda strange so maybe it works. We lost a legend yesterday with Riley Gale's untimely death. For this week, we're talking about: Sturgis Rally 2020: UPDATES / Being Jesus Aged / Limp Bizkit: Origins / Every band was a boy band in the 90s-2000s. Your three main boys are taking the week off from our dumb bullshit. Instead, you get to listen to a damn fine interview with Portuguese heavyweights Moonspell! Toilet ov Hell reporter Ian stepped in to talk with Moonspell vocalist Fernando Ribeiro on the occasion of the re-release of their 1999 hit record The Butterfly Effect. The two discuss the effect of COVID on the band and taking some time to reflect on the things that really matter in life. They're also talking maintaining a degree of privacy in a world of endless streaming possibilities, focusing on writing the best record they can, the rationale for releasing older material for younger audiences, Y2K, and recording in the early days vs. recording with a digital setup. Fernando takes us through the band's live setup and the decisions they make regarding props, sets, and all the outlandish live production that goes into putting on a professional metal show.
