Everyone is following something. You will either follow Satan and the empire of man or Jesus and the Kingdom of God. Three takeaways from Revelation 17-19: 1. The Beasts and the Prostitute (worldly pawns of Satan) will be destroyed and all who follow them will suffer and mourn 2. Jesus will conquer; He is called Faithful and True 3. The followers of Jesus will sing hallelujah

God is not nice. God is "merciful, gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, keeping steadfast love for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin but who will by no means clear the guilty" (Exodus 34:6-7). Nice is humanity’s way of creating God in their desired image. God is compassionate and has brought salvation, redemption, and reconciliation for those who desire it. Yet for those who do not, he has brought his justice.

Pastor Seth teaches that before Jesus reveals to John, "what must take place after this," he gives him a picture of the beauty, glory, and power of God on His throne. All that comes to pass will be under the diving eye of God; all-powerful, all-knowing, all-seeing and completely in control.

In the final hours before Jesus is betrayed and taken into captivity, ultimately leading to his death on the cross, Jesus prays for his disciples throughout the ages. Jesus prayers for his glory to be made known to the world through the oneness of his people. When we, his disciples, are aligned with the prayer of Jesus then we rightly reflect his glory in the world so that the world may know that Jesus is Lord. In this sermon by Pastor Seth Winterhalter, we continue our sermon series through the book of Galatians, looking at what the Apostle Paul writes in Galatians 2:15-21. Here we learn that we are justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law. When you add your works to the finished work of Jesus Christ you nullify and make void all of the work of God in your life. You end up trusting in the good news of yourself as your Savior. You can’t sprinkle a little Jesus onto your salvation. You either trust him fully and completely — you bow your knee and your life — or you trust yourself completely — you look to yourself to be what you know you are not and cannot be: a perfect savior.

In this sermon by Pastor Seth Winterhatler, we see that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is not comprehended, believed in, and acted upon by human understanding but only by the revelation given by the Spirit of God within the heart and mind of mankind. The Gospel brings new birth through regeneration and salvation which is God's gift to man, not man's undertaking. This means that salvation is purely gift and grace and our response is entirely thanksgiving and worship.

In this sermon by Pastor Seth Winterhater, we see that there is no other Gospel but the Gospel revealed through the incarnation, life, death, resurrection, and glorification of Jesus Christ. That active faith, James tells us, calls us to "put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls." In this sermon Pastor Seth Winterhalter expounds on James 1:19-21, sharing that the two primary activities of a healthy Christian are putting away unrighteousness through confession and repentance, and receiving the Gospel of Jesus resulting sanctification and maturation in God’s righteousness. This is not something we simply “do,” this is about who we are to “be” as vibrant Jesus-centered Christians.

Sin has a predictable pathway that starts with our distorted desires and ends with our death. The key to killing sin is asking the Spirit of God to reveal our distorted desires so that we can exchange them for desires rooted in the goodness of God. This is not an option. In the words of John Owen, “be killing sin or sin will be killing you.”

If James, the lead pastor of the most significant church of his time and the brother to Jesus Christ, the Savior and the Lord, calls himself a servant, we should too. Jesus calls his church to care for each other through times of suffering, times of rejoicing, and all times in between. This care for each other should do two things; draw the interest of those outside of the church toward interest in Jesus as well as move from care within the church to care outside in the community. Every Christian has a ministry, how they serve the family of Christ, and a mission, how they serve the people Jesus is in the process of saving. What's your ministry and mission?
