Is truth real? As we push further into Two Truths (eternal and worldly), we discover how elusive truth is in the world. We are indeed helpless to discover goodness in the world without Christ. Below the sun, we are enslaved to truth. Above the sun, we are set free by truth. Dr. Sams reminds us that practically speaking, we simply have to point our gifts toward the service of Christ, and the truth, the absolute good and perfect truth, guides us to eternal joy.

In the end, we end up using people, and love is cheapened. In contrast, true love expects nothing, needs nothing, and acts for its own sake. Christ loves because He loves. We settle so often for shadows of peace. We accept things that are temporal, or worldly, instead of reaching for things that are eternal. God's enemy tries to convince us that shadows are enough - that if we just lean into them enough, they will suffice. But once you see light, such as the Advent of Christ, or after a rough night of camping (have a listen to find out what that means), you cannot settle any longer for shadows of peace. And the best news at Christmas, is that Christ, the Prince of Peace, is with us.

But God spares Ninevah, and Jonah is angry about it. God asks Jonah if his anger is righteous. Jonah has no answer for Him. Isaiah 48:22 tells us there's is no rest for the wicked. When we don't remember certain things, we fall back into wickedness. So we need to remember we are rescued. Remember God is good. God makes this point over and over to His people, Israel, in the Old Testament. It's terrifying because historically, none of us have been very good at it. We use the opportunity to hurt each other. Rev. Since our culture encourages and rewards those who are good at acquiring things, our culture naturally also encourages and reward those who are good at taking. This extends into our view of the kingdom of God. But as Christ's Spirit moves and changes us, our perspective is disrupted. We come to a crossroads. This greatly informs how we behave in relationship to God and one another. Listen, and hear how you can enter into the family of God in a new way.

I certainly never thought of God as homeless. That was a surprise for me this week. And yet, God's search for a home is a compelling framework for understanding His pursuit of us. For hundreds of years, men attempted to provide a home for God - tabernacles, tents, temples, etc. But as Dr. Sams reminds us, Christ and His work on the cross proves that God simply wants to be with us, to dwell with us, to make a home in us. God's home is in the hearts of people. As God home-makes, we are transformed. We are made into what our Creator (and every person) desires: a beautiful dwelling place to call "home".
