#032 - 3 Ways to “Cross-Pollenate” Your Social Media Followers.
In this episode, Sam talks about how you can use one or two main social media platforms to increase your following on others, for a greater overall reach.
In these 3 steps you’ll learn how to use direct messages to grow your following, redirect followers on one platform to another using short videos or trailers, and using links correctly across your platform to raise awareness of your presence and content elsewhere.

#031 - The Second Pillar... Here comes the side hustle baby!
Last year I came up with my 4 pillar strategy for financial freedom.
Over the past 7 months I’ve been working hard on pillar 1... to maximise my 9-5, giving me the beat earnings and freedom I can get. I moved jobs, and also started working from home twice a week.
Pillar 2 is all about the side hustle... and now I’m ready.
In this episode I talk through my plans for the new year, and how you can start your own side hustle.

#030 - Financial Lessons from “Rich Kids Get Skint”
Having a background where I completed two history degrees, I’ve always been taught to try and see everything I read and watch in a unique and new way.
Although this tends annoy the wife quite a lot when I’m constantly commenting on random things that we watch on TV (well I say TV but really I meant Amazon, Netflix or Sky Go... we don’t watch much live TV unless the mighty Saracens are playing live!), I enjoy trying to find different takeaways from what we watch.
And this was certainly the case with Rich Kids Get Skint, a Channel 5 show about a rich millennial spending a few days with a “poor” family (I say poor but I mean first world poor here).
What we are meant to get from the show is that the rich kid can learn lessons in being more humble and appreciative of his or her cash, rather than be too frivolous.
I managed to pull a few other little nugget away... listen to hear what...

It’s been a devastating week for Emily and I. Losing our baby is a pain I’ve never known, and not something I would wish on anyone.
In this episode there is no intro, no credits and no music. I just wanted to get my thoughts out and talk about how this has effected me, and what this means for my future.
We wanted to take this opportunity to just say a huge thank you for all the support and messages of sympathy and love from our amazing friends and family.
It may not seem much but the texts and messages have meant the world to us and have lifted our spirits when we have been at our lowest.
Thank you and we love you all.

#026 - Paying Yourself First.
On this episode I’m explaining the concept of paying yourself first from a Facebook Live video I did earlier in the week in my Part Time Entrepreneurs Community (join in link below).
One of the biggest issue I struggled with, and see others struggle with every day, is living hand to mouth and even running out of cash before payday, leading to missed bill payments (which have a negative effect on your credit file), having to go into debt, and even stress and anxiety.
What if I told you it was easier than you thought to change that overnight?
What if I said that by employing 2-3 minor changes to your financial life, you could not only never ever miss another bill payment, but never live above your means, and even get to the end of the month and had money left over to pay down your debt even more, or put extra funds into your investment or rainy day pots?
In this episode I tell you how I’ve changed the way I run my personal finances to achieve those very goals, and as a result, I have taken control over my money.

#25 - The Netflix Model to Social Media Success.
Do you struggle to think up new ideas for content on your social media platforms?
Do you not understand how others can post 3-4 (and more) times a day without breaking a sweat?
Well, I too struggled (and still do from time to time) with this too. I felt like creating pictures, videos and posts for all my social media platforms was becoming almost a full time job, and actually, even worse, it was becoming a chore.
And that’s when I came across the Netflix model.
I’d read about something similar a few times in various articles, but no one had really made the direct leap from exactly what Netflix did to reach the status they are today, where they now, of course create a tonne of their own content, and how this exact same strategy can be implemented on social media to enable you to quickly grow a following, before creating your own content en mass.
Listen to the episode to discover how Netflix were able to grow, and how this same strategy will help you grow your accounts on social media in a matter of weeks.

#024 - Walk & Talk: Keep Hustling or Take a Break

Keep Hustling or Take a Break
Last week I took my first bit of time off since my honeymoon to Canada last year.
Although the honeymoon was a strick “no work zone” (or I may have had to deal with a divorce before we were even back!) as we were travelling around seeing the beautiful countryside that the west side of Canada has to offer, neither of us really “unwound” so to speak. So in reality, our week on the north Devon coast was the first time in a very look time that Emily and I truly had time to switch off and relax.
I have to admit that before we went I was filled with anxiety about being out of the office. I’m only 3 months into a new position, and have been burned before whilst away on holiday (Once an ex-colleague of mine even planted something to get me into trouble because they were jealous of my position!), so was just a bit wary about loosening my grip on my work.
To give myself credit I made sure that three separate people in the office were fully on top of the world load I had, and also, my boss told me he would offer extra support, so this made me feel better.
Then there is the whole preaching hard work and hustle. Was I now going to turn my back on that for a week?
Well the reality of it was the Emily and I had one of our best holidays ever. Spending time with her (when we are currently living a part to save money... as my followers will know) was amazing and also having a week with her family was an extra treat.
The weather was great, I felt little pressure to constantly check my emails, and I genuinely relaxed for the first time in a while.
And what was the result? I was able to take a step back and look at what I’d achieved in the last 6 months, what I planed to achieve in the next 6 and reflect a bit.
This ultimately meant I was able to recharge and have a week of calm and I’ve now come back with a renewed spring in my step.
If you had asked me my feelings on holidays a few weeks ago my answer would have been something along the lines of “don’t take them until you’ve achieved your goals”, but now I realise that taking a break from time to time will actually help you achieve those goals quicker.
I’m not advocating now booking a string of holidays, but I’d highly recommend working some kind of chill time into your diary at some point as it certainly has had a positive effect on me!

Raising Your Own Start Up Captial
When I started out on my journey to financial freedom, I made the assumption that at some point I would beee to raise funding through an investor or venture capitalist.
What I’ve learned in the past few years, is that this really isn’t the case, and giving away a percentage of a company I’ve built, would ultimately always been an unbalanced deal as in the years to come, the amount anyone would be willing to invest in a start up, would never be enough for me to want to give away 10%, 15%, 20% or however much it would take to get the funds I would need.
The “start up” was always a property company, whether that’s buying and selling or buying and renting. When I was learning about how to grow a property company, everyone was telling me to borrow money from investors, but now I’ve realised I believe it’s possible to grow your own.
It was this epiphany that started the process for me to create my 4 pillars strategy, as I realised that the goal was to pay off all debt, and have a mix of passive income from property, and an investment pot that continues to grow with compounding. But I had to reverse engineer this to then figure out how to get those two pots. So they became pillars 3 and 4, so I needed 1 and 2 to create 3 and 4. And to create 3 and 4 without having to borrow any more money or sell a part of my company.

Money Vs Freedom
What is your goal? In today espouse I tall about the idea of money, or a monetary figure, as the target for your journey, and why I think this tactic is flawed.
4 years ago I travelled the world, pretty much without any financial constraints, and felt truly free. My journey is about reaching that feeling of freedom again. Wealth will facilitate this but having millions in the bank is not the driver.
The goal is being able to wake up every day and having the freedom to choose what I want to do without financial constraints.

My Plans For The Rest Of 2019
I thought it was time to take a breathe and talk about my plans for the rest of 2019.
It’s been 6 months of progress, starting with the One Funnel Away Challenge in January (check out the link below to take the 30 challenge yourself), building and starting my 4 pillars strategy to debt and financial freedom, built 3 Instagram profiles as part of my social media strategy, started a new 9-5 with better earnings potential, and of course starting this podcast!
For the rest of 2019 I have plans to take my side hustles up a gear, in order to make the extra money to get debt free by the end of the year (£24,000 to go!). The smaller side hustles involve drop-shipping and retail arbitrage, and the bigger... starting an Instagram agency!
What are your goals for the rest of 2019?

Walk and Talk: Giving Up My Day Job
In another walk and talk, I go into the reasons I’m in no rush to give up my day job, even when entrepreneurialism and business is my driver. My real driver is financial independence, and to get that I must first pay off my £24,000 of debts, and build an emergency fund.
Keeping my 9-5 gives me the security I need right now, and as I’m commission targeted too, allows me to get out what I put in and make extra income based on my performance. Almost another type of income source.
I have side hustles I’m working on that may eventually take over as maim businesses but for now having the freedom to explore these and learn without the pressure of having to cover my outgoings is a real advantage to my plan.

Business and The Saracens Way
It’s no secret that I’m a Saracens fanatic. For those of you that don’t know, Saracens are the current European and English Premiership Rugby champions. The club has become synonymous with success and “The Saracens Way”... a phrase used to describe the culture at the club, which has now been extended to a service open to businesses, run by ex-Saracens player Will Fraser, that teaches leaders who the way Saracens have built their huge success can be re-modelled for business.
However despite this, Saracens, amongst the domestic rugby community are hated. Jealousy of their success has lead to an investigation into how they are able to become so successful, as of course, this kind of level could never be obtainable fairly.
In this episode I have a mini rant about how the community should be trying to model “The Saracens Way” rather than turning green and trying to pull the club down.

This effectively comes down to four pillars:

4. Your passive income through income generating assets such as property/real estate.

Lots has been spoken about goal setting, in fact, it’s probably the MOST talked about thing you find when looking for tips on building a part time business... I should know... I spent four years reading and watching this stuff!
But I take a different approach. You don’t know what you need to do unless you understand the now, and that’s why we worked at understanding our own business (or personal financial situation) in part one.
Now that we know what what we need to put each month, what we can save, and how much spare cash we can generate, we can put pretty precise timeframes on how quickly we can realistically achieve a certain goal. And I’ve split them into two categories... debt and financial freedom.
You know how much debt you have, and how much you need to pay each month now, so you can use that data to work out a realistic debt free date... and beat it!
You also know what your overall expenditure is, before AND after your debt is paid off, so you know what your part time business needs to achieve, monthly, if you ever want to turn it into a full time business and “sack your boss”.
Next time, we look at the different options available to you, when earning a part time income, and which would suit your goals best.

Today we are talking about taking action. The best time to start is NOW! I spend a large part of my life procrastination and dreaming and it has ultimately led me to where I am, but I could have gotten here a lot sooner had a focused, set goals and taken action. There is so much information out there is easy to get lost in the sea of knowledge but once you’ve found something that resonates with you, stick to it and see it through and don’t get yourself down if it doesn’t work first time. Dust yourself down and go again.
