Escapees Mark Channon [Memory Coach]
19 perc 99. rész Christian Rodwell, Mark Channon

Every two weeks I’ll be bringing you interviews with leading authors, entrepreneurs, personal development coaches and marketing experts to the show as always...but in between you’ll now also get the opportunity to hear from people who may seem a little more within reach of where you are right now…..members of the escape the rat race community who have been attending our events since we launched in 2015, working with myself and our mentors, but most importantly working hard on themselves and picking a lane upon which to focus.

I’ll be breaking down their story into three parts:

Where They Were

Where They Are Now

Where They Want To Get To

I’ll also be asking them if they can remember the date they set as their ‘Escape The Rat Race Day’- and if you don’t already have a date written down somewhere for yourself, let me challenge you now to do so. State your intention, write it down, and put it in a draw somewhere. You might just surprise yourself when you find it again in a year or two’s time...

OK, let’s do this! Our next Escapee, coming up….

Ash Ali & Hasan Kubba - How You Already Have What It Takes to Succeed
41 perc 98. rész Christian Rodwell, Hasan Kubba, Ash Ali

The subtitle of this book is ‘How You Already Have What It Takes To Succeed’, and I think that is just so relevant for all of my listeners because it really is true. It comes back to the famous quote from Henry Ford ‘Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t - you’re right’. Successful entrepreneurship is really 80% mindset and 20% skillset. there’s always someone else that has the answer.

In today’s conversation, you’re going to hear Ash and Hasan tell you why we all have unfair advantages in life, whether we happen to be really analytical in the way we think, or we have a talent for something that might have been thought really geeky when we were at school - but actually now is our greatest asset. Or it could be that you just naturally have a great feel for people and can build relationships really easily. An unfair advantage is simply the element that gives you an edge over your competition ...and the quicker you can really get clear on that, the quicker you’re going to start seeing success and traction in your business.

With Ash’s 20 years of hands-on experience creating and growing startups, combined with Hasan’s own digital marketing agency background and startup investment experience - you should definitely be taking note of what these guys are sharing with you today.

Xavier Collins - How To Make Your First £1k on Turo
40 perc 96. rész Christian Rodwell, Xavier Collins

Hey welcome to another episode of Escape The Rat Race Radio, my name is Christian Rodwell and this week my guest is Xavier Collins.

Xavier shot up the ranks in the gig economy, playing a pivotal role in the national growth of Deliveroo before joining Turo to lead its UK expansion.

As General manager for the south of the UK and head of UK market launches for Deliveroo, Xavier built the business from a team of just two, doing less than 100 orders a day, to a team of 20 doing over 10k orders a day - in only two years. He also went on to run Deliveroo’s latest vertical - Deliveroo for Business, signing up major clients such as Facebook, Google and banks like Credit Suisse - playing a significant role in Deliveroo turning into the £2 billion success story it is today.

In today’s episode, Xavier talks us through how simple it is to use Turo to begin generating a monthly income from the cars that you own. Without the need to find your own customers, or do any of the marketing - you can simply leverage the platform and begin making money within a matter of days.

This is SUCH a great way for you to start creating multiple streams of income and as you’ll be hearing from one of the Turo hosts, Carlo Misceo, the extra income you can generate from Turo every month can either be used to fulfil your desire to travel more, or you could simply use that income to start growing your asset base in other areas.

I’m excited for you to hear today’s episode, and if you decide to give Turo a test-drive and start making some money from it - then I’d love to hear from you! Be sure to post an update inside of the Escape the Rat Race Private Facebook Group!

Ruari Fairbairns - How a city trader started a global movement helping people change their relationship with alcohol
37 perc 95. rész Christian Rodwell, Ruari Fairbairns

Hey welcome to another episode of Escape The Rat Race Radio, my name is Christian Rodwell and this week my guest is Ruari Fairbairns.

Ruari grew up on the Isle of Mull in Scotland, setting up his first business selling and servicing PCs on the island aged just 16. A career in sales followed, and by the age of 25 he’d setup 5 different enterprises and through the TV program “The Apprentice” he found himself in London as a commodities broker.

Ruari quickly established himself as a success and went on to start and grow the European Jet Desk from inception to market leader in under 3 years. In 2015, after a few failed attempts, Ruari decided to take a break from alcohol and it fundamentally changed his life.

Together with co-founder Andy Ramage, Ruari decided to create something to change the peer pressure around giving up drinking. In 2016 they launched the ‘One Year No Beer’ online challenge, which has proved more successful than they could have ever imagined.

Since inception, OYNB has helped over 70,000 people in 90 countries transform their relationship with alcohol. Headquartered in North Berwick, just outside Edinburgh, As CEO of the business, Ruari is now responsible for a rapidly growing team who are passionate about changing the world, whilst building a business by the beach.

In today’s episode, you’ll hear Ruari talk about how his journey to success was far from smooth, making every mistake in the book, over-spending - and that in some ways you have to experience this as part of your learning phase when it comes to gaining real-life

business experience.

I’m excited for you to hear Rurai’s story of escaping the trading desk to starting one of the largest sober-free movements in the world, so let’s not wait any longer, and let’s head on over to my conversation with Ruari Fairbairns.

Dennis Yu - Where To Begin With Digital Marketing & Facebook Advertising
39 perc 94. rész Dennis Yu, Christian Rodwell

Hey welcome to another episode of Escape The Rat Race Radio, my name is Christian Rodwell and this week my guest is Dennis Yu.

If you’ve ever tried to run Facebook ads for your business then you’ll know that it can be pretty overwhelming knowing what type of objective to choose, who to target and how to make your ad compelling enough for people to click and engage. It’s super easy to spend hundreds of pounds or dollars and not see any tangible result in terms of sales.

Dennis’ message is one of simplicity and going back to marketing basics - you have to move your prospects through a funnel which begins with running ads specifically to create awareness of you, then to engagement before the final stage which is where you convert your prospect to a paying customer.

In today’s episode, you’ll hear Dennis share what he believes is the best way for an employee to transition successfully from a full-time job to work for themselves, and why you shouldn’t quit your job until you’re making enough money to cover all of your expenses in your new venture.

We also dive into some of the fundamentals of marketing and what you need to do in order to start running successful campaigns on facebook that will help you build your brand and get your potential customers to know, like and trust you enough to be ready to buy.

OK let’s do this! Let’s head over to today’s conversation with the CEO of BlitzMetrics, Dennis Yu.

Lydia climbed her way up the corporate ladder in her home town of Vancouver and had bagged a comfortable six-figure job for herself. However, after having a realization that it wasn’t the life she wanted, she quit and started launching businesses of her own.

As you will have heard from so many of my previous guests before, success didn’t happen overnight, but after a lot of soul searching and persistence, Lydia went on to build a business that’s not only profitable, but purposeful, and allows her to design her work around the lifestyle she wants to lead.

Marianne Cantwell - Creating A Business Based On Your Personality
38 perc 90. rész Christian Rodwell, Marianne Cantwell

Hey welcome to another episode of Escape The Rat Race Radio, my name is Christian Rodwell and this week my guest is Marianne Cantwell, Author of ‘Be A Free Range Human’.
In 2013 she published a book titled ‘Be A Free Range Human: Escape the 9-5, Create a life you love and still pay the bills’. Unbeknown to her at the time, but this book would go on to become an international best seller, having since been translated into multiple languages, and propel Marianne into the spotlight alongside the likes of other pioneering career change experts such as Tim Ferriss, Author of ‘The 4 Hour Work Week’

In 2017 Marianne stepped onto the TED stage to deliver a TedX talk titled ‘The Hidden power of Not (Always) Fitting In’, which to date has been watched nearly 400k times, inspiring thousands to enrol in her courses which focus on finding your 'thing' (and making it work for you).

Her thinking has featured everywhere from Business Week and CBS MoneyWatch, to The Guardian and Entrepreneur magazine.

A corporate escapee herself, she now lives and works between several countries (often found between London and sunny California), and carries her business in an unexpectedly tiny laptop.

In today’s conversation you’ll hear Marianne talk about why there is a home for every personality and strength – it’s just a question of finding that home or creating it to fit you.
Starting from who you are is the pathway to a lot more ease, happiness and smoother success in what you do (rather than rushing into something that sounds like a good idea but in reality requires you to leave a piece of yourself at the door and squish your edges day after day).
I very much resonate with Marianne’s approach and I’m sure you’re going to as well.

Brandon Block - Finding Happiness From Within
61 perc 86. rész Christian Rodwell, Brandon Block

Hey welcome to another episode of Escape The Rat Race Radio, my name is Christian Rodwell and today I’m talking with Brandon Block..

Unfortunately for Brandon, he proved to himself that there could be too much of a good thing, and the hedonistic lifestyle that he became famous for back in the late nineties rapidly began to spiral out of control, leading to serious drug addiction and being told that if he didn’t stop he would only have a couple of weeks left to live.

It often takes a catalyst to bring about change, and this certainly set about a new lease of life for Brandon, albeit, as you’ll hear today, it wasn’t until a good 10 years later that Brandon once again took stock of his life and asked himself if what he was doing was truly making him happy.

In today’s episode you’ll hear Brandon explain about the work he’s been involved in over the last 8 or so years with people suffering from mental illness, addiction and homelessness through the NHS, which has inspired him to create his own business called Happy Days which focuses on teaching anybody how to use simple tools to begin bringing more compassion into your life and focus on what’s good, as opposed to what you don’t have in your life right now.

I personally see many people attending Escape the Rat Race events who are unhappy with their work, their boss or their financial situation - and as you’ll hear from our discussion today, sometimes instead of blaming everyone and everything else for not being right, the first place to look to begin fixing things, is within ourselves.

I think it’s really helpful to realise that everybody started from pretty much the same place, and I hope that by hearing the journey that my guests have been on which led to their success will inspire you to have that unfaltering self-belief and determination to keep on going, even when you feel like giving up on your entrepreneurial exploits.

So in Part 2 today we’re pulling back the covers on what it really takes to be successful at marketing, and I’m certain you’re gonna love it! Get your notebooks at the ready because Perry will be giving you some tips which are the best out there if you want to start selling more of your products or services - guaranteed!

OK let’s do this, let’s head on over to my conversation with Perry Marshall.

Perry Marshall - 80/20 Sales & Marketing [Part 1]
35 perc 84. rész Christian Rodwell, Perry Marshall

Hey welcome to another episode of Escape The Rat Race Radio, my name is Christian Rodwell and today I’m talking with Perry Marshall - best selling author of the 80/20 Sales & Marketing, The Ultimate Guide to Google Adwords and The Ultimate Guide to Facebook Advertising.

Perry is a smart guy who has a degree in Electrical Engineering, and his reinvention of the Pareto Principle is published in Harvard Business Review, and NASA's Jet Propulsion Labs at the California Institute of Technology also use his 80/20 Curve as a productivity tool.

When Google Adwords was launched Perry became one of the very first to realise it’s huge potential and quickly became an expert user. In 2008 along with Bryan Todd he co-authored The Definitive Guide to Google Adwords, laying the foundations for what has now grown into a $100bn pay per click industry.

In part 1 of my conversation with Perry which you’re about to hear, we don’t even get close to speaking about the 80/20 principle which is what Perry is so well known for within the sales and marketing world. Instead, we talk today about what life used to be like for Perry, and how he was just a regular guy doing a regular job just like the rest of us.

His first taste of sales actually came through an association with Amway, one of the biggest MLM distribution companies in the U.S - and perhaps it was this experience that led Perry to become one of the worlds most in demand marketing experts that he is today.

OK Let’s do this! Let’s head on over to my conversation with Perry Marshall.

Paul Taylor - £0 to £100k in One Year
29 perc 83. rész Christian Rodwell

Hey welcome to another episode of Escape The Rat Race Radio, my name is Christian Rodwell and today I’m talking with Paul Taylor, a former derivatives broker turned property investor who is now giving back to those who wish to emulate some of the good fortune and success that he has been able to create for himself through hard work, commitment and laser focus on what he wants.

Starting with zero pounds, Paul wanted to prove that anybody can start to make money and set about recording his journey and posting on youtube, bringing his 7 year old son Jack along for the experience, and to teach him some valuable business lessons along the way.

In today’s episode you’ll hear Paul explain exactly what he did to generate those first few pounds from nothing, and then how he quickly compounded those returns to begin growing the pot to over £200k worth of stock capital that he is currently holding and in the process of selling, on top of the £80k+ that has already been banked! And they’re only 6 months into their 12 month challenge!

If you’ve told yourself that money is stopping you from getting started, then today’s episode will blow that excuse clean away!

OK Let’s do this! Let’s head on over to my conversation with Paul Taylor.

Brian Mayne - How to Set Goals
35 perc 81. rész Christian Rodwell

Hey welcome to another episode of Escape The Rat Race Radio, my name is Christian Rodwell and today I’m talking with Brian Mayne,

Now, It was at a seemingly low point that Brian discovered the keys to success: that you can change your life by changing your thoughts and feelings about it.

Using simple but powerful techniques, Brian learned to hold positive thoughts by setting goals, and through those goals he gradually transformed both himself and his life.

20 years later, and Brian is an international speaker on human potential, and has empowered hundreds of thousands of people with his unique systems for success.

In 1994 he created a unique process called Goal Mapping, which has now been taught to over 4m users worldwide, and spawned new products to help people achieve their full potential such as life mapping, self mapping and the 7 magic keys development programme for children.

Goal Mapping has helped people from all walks of life to turn their dreams into realities, and Brian is on course to achieving his own goal of lifting the lives of 7 million people.
Brian is an Author of 4 books, has been voted UK Speaker of the Year by the Academy of Chief Executives and has also worked with renowned speakers such as Brendon Bruchard, Anthony Robbins, Christopher Howard and T Harv Ecker.

38 perc 78. rész Christian Rodwell

Hey welcome to another episode of Escape The Rat Race Radio, my name is Christian Rodwell and today I’m talking with the Co-Founder of Sublime Trading, Zaheer Anwari.

I’ve known Zaheer since 2014 when I myself was learning to trade, and we have stayed good friends ever since. Zaheer is one of only two guests to have spoken twice at my Escape The Rat Race Monthly meetup in London - and I’m not quite sure why it’s taken me until episode 78 to invite him on the show, but I can assure you that you’re going to hear a very honest conversation today about the reality of what it takes to make money from the markets as a private trader.

You’re going to hear why day trading is sold as the sexy way to quick riches but often has disastrous results - and let’s face it, who really wants to sit in front of a computer screen all day having a near heart attack as you see your profits soar and then plummet every few minutes? Not me!

Well Zaheer is going to explain what trend trading is, and why it is a far more powerful, profitable and beneficial approach for someone looking to generate additional income streams alongside a full time job.

Ezra Firestone - What’s The Easiest Business To Get Started With?
32 perc 77. rész Christian Rodwell

Hi! My name is Christian Rodwell and today I’m talking with CEO of Smart Marketer, Ezra Firestone.

Ezra is a creative, personable down-to earth entrepreneur, who thrives on helping people to reach their business goals - most notably in the online world and especially eCommerce.

Despite being recognised today as one of the smartest marketing guys on the planet, Ezra began in just the same manner as many of you listening will be doing right now - moonlighting as an entrepreneur, coming home after work each night and spending a couple of hours studying eCommerce and marketing ...which led him to setting up his first online store, My Costume Wigs.

Like most of us, Ezra was chasing Freedom in life to focus on the things that really mattered to him - such as his loved ones and just having that freedom of choice and not having to answer to somebody else.

After a couple years running a profitable ecommerce store, he systemised the process well enough that he had time to start another. In 2010 he created what would become his most successful brand, a pro-age cosmetics line called BOOM! by Cindy Joseph. ...a business that now generates over $20m/year.

I could have chosen to pick Ezra’s brains about the latest cutting edge marketing strategies … (and if you want some of that then head to youtube where you’ll find heaps of videos) however I felt it would be of more value for Escape The Rat Race listeners to find out what type of business Ezra recommends for someone just starting out.

Ezra has been in the online world for a long time now, and has tried a LOT of different things ...so If you’re serious about escaping your 9-5 within the next 12 months, then get ready to take some notes.

OK Let’s do this! Let’s head on over to my conversation with Ezra Firestone.

Sveta & James Longley - Why You Must Amplify What’s Working In Your Business
35 perc 69. rész Christian Rodwell

How can you prevent overcomplicating your business and ending up paralysed with overwhelm and indecision?

My name is Christian Rodwell and today I’m talking with Sveta & James Longley, the husband and wife team behind Systems HQ who left behind their corporate copywriting and conversion consultancy roles to work instead on creating a business that would have a positive impact on the people they worked with.

Systems HQ is an online platform and community where small business owners and entrepreneurs can develop and implement more effective ways of going about their daily tasks that amplify what's already working in their own business.

James & Sveta are experts at helping you identify exactly where to start, where your systems 'leaks' are and which systems will make you more money - giving you the answers and support you need to focus on implementing your systems and actually growing your business.

Creating systems in your business doesn’t always necessarily mean automating everything, although in today’s conversation I will also be asking James & Sveta for their tips on some of the best free/low-cost online tools needed to run your own successful business.

In this episode you’ll learn…

  • Why it’s important to understand first what stage is your business
at, before deciding which systems to put in place
  • How to know when to focus on the right things at the right time
  • leveraging the best free/low-cost online tools needed to run your own
    successful business
  • Why it can be so easy to get attracted to the latest new trend in
marketing or ‘shiny penny’ and how getting clear on your own systems
    can reduce these distractions
  • The importance of human relationships are still integral in business
and that cannot be replaced by automation - but it can be amplified
  • Simplicity is key at the early stages of validating whether your
product or service has demand in the marketplace ‘good enough’ beats
    perfection every time!

Quotes:
‘There is no such thing as managing your time, it’s managing what you do within that time’
‘It’s as simple as saying ‘what are the steps that have to happen every time i do this’’
‘Even doing the right things but at the wrong time - can lead you to a lot of wasted time, money and energy’
‘Since GDPR came into effect it really helped us focus on the fact that business is about relationships first and foremost’
‘A great question that can help lead you to that simplicity and focus is, ‘what activity, right now is closest to the money’’
‘You learn in the process, and we all started from that point of fear - and that fear doesn’t go away’

Joe McCall - Creative Real Estate Investing
45 perc 68. rész Christian Rodwell

How can you invest in property without having funds? You need to use creative strategies!
My name is Christian Rodwell and today I’m talking with Joe McCall. Joe invests remotely in multiple markets and he loves creating automated marketing systems.
his teams have flipped multiple lease options and regular wholesale deals – without him seeing the house or talking to the sellers or the buyers – ever.

Joe believes that the greatest part of this business is that he gets the privilege of working wherever and whenever he wants – from home, from Starbucks, the pool, a condo in Colorado, a coffee shop in Prague, a farmhouse in Ireland – wherever!

In today’s conversation I ask Joe what the difference is between the strategies that he has used to invest in property compared to the more ‘traditional’ strategies that most people would be more familiar with.

In this episode you’ll learn…

How Joe’s father sparked the entrepreneurial itch at a young age

Why Joe and his wife chose to homeschool their children

How Joe transitioned from a full time corporate job to making more money by flipping properties part time

Why creative property strategies can allow you to travel and still generate an income no matter where in the world you are

Joe’s advice for getting started and getting educated in creative property strategies for free

Why it’s important to prove that you can make some money in your new venture before you quit your job

Joe’s tips for systemising your business through automation and delegation wherever possible

Why creating a future vision for what you wish your life to look like can really help bring that to life

Quotes:

‘I was making more money flipping property than I was in my job’ -JoeMcCall

‘It’s not that we’re anti-public schools it’s just that we’re so pro homeschool because of the freedom it gives us’ -JoeMcCall

‘The smart entrepreneurs are focused. Focused makes you rich, and shiny objects make you blind’ -JoeMcCall

‘My biggest breakthroughs have come in my business when I’ve started asking bigger questions’ -JoeMcCall

‘You need to be thinking in terms of marketing, automation and delegation [in your business]’ -JoeMcCall

‘I’m going to stop asking ‘what if?’ and start asking ‘what next?’’ -JoeMcCall

Have you reached that point in your job where you’re thinking ‘enough is enough’?
In this book, Christian Rodwell, the Founder of Escape The Rat Race, shows that there is a proven process anyone who is currently employed but looking to start their own business can follow
‘The choices for someone wishing to exit a corporate 9-5 job and start a new business are numerous and this can easily lead to overwhelm, confusion….and over-analysing the options for so long that you end up taking no action at all.’

It’s also true that not everyone who wishes to quit the rat race and start a business, knows exactly what business would be best suited to them initially.

Christian Rodwell has been through all of these challenges himself, and has worked with over 1000 other ‘#escapees’ who are on the same journey. Christian illustrates within this book his process for helping such individuals map out their very own ‘9-5 escape plan’ - ‘The Five Step Freedom Formula’.

Christian is also the host of Escape The Rat Race Radio, the chart topping Business & Careers Podcast that speaks to leading entrepreneurs such as Seth Godin, Daniel Priestley, Rob Moore, Dr John Demartini, Roger Hamilton about how you can break free of your 9-5 job and start a business that you love.

Do any of the following statements reflect how you feel right now about your current work/life balance?

★ You feel trapped in a cycle of getting up to go to work each day, trading your time for money

★ You lack fulfilment doing work you’re not passionate about in order to make other people more successful

★ You’re frustrated because you know that you are capable of achieving greatness, but feel as if your current situation is holding you back

‘If escaping the rat race is something you want to do, then take heart. This is something I have done for myself and I work with people every week who are in the process of doing the same.’

Based around a proven five-step formula to ultimate freedom, the author guides readers through every step of gaining true clarity on their life goals, focusing their attention on achieving them – and making that bold transition from frustrated employee to unstoppable entrepreneur.

Natalie Sisson - What Exactly Is A Lifestyle Business?
39 perc 66. rész Christian Rodwell

What exactly is a lifestyle business?

My name is Christian Rodwell and today I’m talking with Natalie Sisson. After eight years in the corporate world, Natalie left her high-paying job that was sucking the life out of her creativity and ability to put a dent in the world, and flew off to another country to play World Championship Ultimate Frisbee and start her first business.

After cutting her teeth in the entrepreneurial world as a cofounder of a technology start-up, she went on to take her blog, The Suitcase Entrepreneur, and turn it into the thriving multiple six-figure lifestyle business she can run from just a laptop and her smartphone.

Driven by her desire to obtain what most value so highly but few achieve—ultimate freedom—she spent the first two years hustling like crazy, making the same mistakes most new business owners do, and learning a lot of hard lessons before she developed the blueprint to building a thriving online business and her dream global lifestyle.

Now, Natalie teaches thousands of entrepreneurs around through her online programs, workshops and retreats. She is dedicated to helping entrepreneurs uncover the life-changing habits, tools, routines and mindset to experience more everyday personal and professional freedom, so they can truly live the life they desire, while running a profitable business they love.

In this episode you’ll learn…

Where the name ‘suitcase entrepreneur’ first came from and why it so encapsulated everything that natalie stood for at that time
The 180 shift that occurred in 2016 which led Natalie to re-evaluate her positioning and forge a new direction in the way she works with aspiring entrepreneurs
Why taking one of the personality tests that exist online can really help you to understand your natural strengths as an entrepreneur
The pros & Cons of living a Suitcase Entrepreneurs lifestyle
The 2 different approaches you can take when starting an online business of your own
The value ladder of products and services which can become the backbone of your digital nomad business

Quotes:

‘If anything I think travelling the world is actually cheaper than staying in a set place as you don’t have all those overhead costs’-Natalie Sisson

‘It’s important to follow and emulate great mentors when you start out but don’t get trapped by following and copying them’-Natalie Sisson

‘Be intentional about the design of your business to support your lifestyle’-Natalie Sisson

‘An entrepreneur is somebody who sees the opportunity, seizes it and does it on their own terms whilst making a profit and an impact’-Natalie Sisson

Behind The Scenes Of Writing My Book ‘Sack Your Boss’
42 perc 65. rész Christian Rodwell

Have you reached that point in your job where you’re thinking ‘enough is enough’? Are you ready to sack your boss and start a business you love?

On today’s show we’re switching things up and I will be in the hot seat for a change talking about my brand new book ‘Sack Your Boss: The Ultimate Guide To Escape Your 9-5’.

I’m joined by my good friend and fellow Author, Lex McKee. Lex will be posing the questions to find out the story behind the writing of the book, what it’s all about and who I’ve written it for.

The book is currently available for Pre-Order Worldwide for a special discounted offer of just £0.99 - Pre-Order 'Sack Your Boss' Book

In this episode you’ll learn…

What each of the 5 Steps are within The Five Step Freedom Formula and why they have a specific order
Why I chose not to go to University and the steps I took to land my dream job working for one of the World’s most successful record companies at the age of 19
Why you need a structure to support you during your transition from employee to starting your own business
Why it’s absolutely essential to understand yourself first before you begin to search for your ‘winning strategy’
Why Fear is so often the number one thing that holds people back from taking the leap of faith to quit their 9-5 and what you can do to overcome that
How to plan your escape by breaking down your big goals into 90 day sprints
The importance of finding your own entrepreneurial team as early on in your journey as possible
How to find your natural flow as an entrepreneur
The ripple effect that every single sale of ‘Sack Your Boss’ book will have as part of the Escape The Rat Race partnership with B1G1

Quotes:
‘It’s easier just to keep on doing it [a job you don’t enjoy] than to actually take that leap of faith and really, really step outside of your comfort zone’
‘All of the strategies work. What people need to understand is that not every strategy will work for every person’
‘Getting up, doing that daily commute, sitting at your desk, looking at the clock all day long and just waiting for Friday to come. That is not a way to spend your life’
‘When you take that leap of faith and ‘feel the fear and just do it anyway’ the world has a funny way of things just falling into place’
‘When I ask people ‘what does escape the rat race mean to you?’, 99 times out of 100 the answer I get back is ‘freedom’’
‘When you understand all that chit-chat [in your head] is false, it’s stuff either in the past or in the future but not actually the reality of right now - then you can put that into perspective’
‘When you know what your entrepreneur profile is it’s unbelievable how it gives you that clarity and focus’

Seth Godin - What Is Marketing?
38 perc 64. rész Christian Rodwell

What story does your marketing tell about you? And why should people care?

My name is Christian Rodwell and today I’m talking with Seth Godin. Though renowned for his writing and speaking, Seth also founded two companies, Squidoo and Yoyodyne (acquired by Yahoo!).

By focusing on everything from effective marketing and leadership, to the spread of ideas and changing everything, Seth has been able to motivate and inspire countless people around the world.

In 2013, Seth was one of just three professionals inducted into the Direct Marketing Hall of Fame. In an astonishing turn of events, in May 2018, he was inducted into the Marketing Hall of Fame as well. He might be the only person in both.

He's the most influential business blogger in the world and consistently one of the twenty-five most widely read bloggers in the English language.

In this episode you’ll learn…

The difference between a Freelancer and an Entrepreneur
3 common pitfalls that aspiring entrepreneurs face when starting out
Seth’s simple definition of what ‘Marketing’ actually means
Why one of your goals as a business owner is to become the monopoly in your industry
The #1 thing a solopreneur should focus on to build their business
Seth’s answer to whether life as an entrepreneur becomes easier or more difficult as time passes

Quotes:

‘I am trying very hard to spread a big basket of ideas, and I am lucky enough to be able to teach a million people a day - but those people are the ones that are taking that work to the world’

‘Marketing is everything we do and how we do it. It’s the story we tell, and mostly it’s the change we seek to make’

‘If you’re a freelancer but you think you’re an entrepreneur you’re going to be stressed out of your mind’

‘What you really need to worry about is not failing, it’s almost succeeding’

‘I had the opposite: it wasn’t ‘take this job and shove it’, it was ‘how do I take this job and replicate this environment for the rest of my life’’

‘No one cares about your ‘why’. They care about what they think your ‘why’ is’

‘I think when making important life decisions you better be really clear about your motivation, but marketing is about what we hear - not what you say.’

‘Human beings are always looking for something that’s worth doing, and avoiding things that they think aren’t worth doing’

‘That fear that we all have is really getting in the way of what we could be creating’

‘This whole passive income thing is so ridiculous. How about active income as a result of extraordinary care and effort.’

‘Do not try to sell to strangers, try to sell to sell to people who already trust you - even if it’s only 5 people’

‘If you’re not paying Facebook then you’re not a customer, you’re the product - and that’s worth thinking about for a minute’

Christian Rodwell: Special 50th Episode + Free Gift!

DOWNLOAD THE FREEBIE: MY TOP TEN TIPS TO #ETRR

During the last 18 months we’ve celebrated a number of successful #escapees - members of the ETRR community who have worked hard and shown unbelievable focus...and been rewarded by finally reaching that point where they can kiss goodbye to the 9-5 and Sack their boss!

If you’ve been a listener since the early days, you’ll have had the pleasure of hearing me speak with some wonderful guests who have shared with us just how they went about switching their mindset from that of an employee to that of an entrepreneur, and the different strategies which helped them to start generating profits rather than wages.

I’d love to shout out every single one of my guests that have appeared on Escape The Rat Radio since we launched (not to mention YOU for tuning in every week and being such an amazing listener and supporter of the #ETRR movement) - I’m going to reference as many of my guests as I can today for you in case you missed those episodes, and I highly encourage you to check the show notes for today’s episode because they are absolutely RICH in content and will direct you to all the right places to help you to start formulating your very own escape plan.

You’ll also definitely want to make sure you listen all the way through today’s episode because I’ve put together my  first ever Escape The Rat Race Radio Giveaway - and it is absolutely one you need to download and refer to EVERY DAY!

Since launching I’ve had a lot of people ask me about the whole process of podcasting, and I’ve toyed with the idea of creating a guide or mini-course to just be able to point people towards - but it’s actually super easy, and so I’m going to give you a real quick rundown of what my processes are, the kit I use, and my top tips for getting started if you’re wanting to begin podcasting.

Finally, It’s easy to paint a picture online and especially on social media that life is amazing and everything is going well, but as all aspiring entrepreneurs soon realise, that’s most definitely NOT always the case. It can be difficult when you’re building your personal brand and a requirement is to ‘show up’ on social media on a nearly daily basis if you’re going to stand out from all the noise that exists, but there’s times when you just really don’t feel like doing that.

A little later in the show, I’m going to share some of the ‘not so great’ times that I’ve had to endure whilst growing learning the ropes as a rookie entrepreneur since quitting my job and jumping ship 3.5 years ago…..and some of the lessons that I’ve learned along that bumpy road which I absolutely know can help you.

OK, I hope I’ve whetted your appetite enough...let’s dive straight in, let me take you by the hand and let’s look back at the last 18 months and 49 episodes of ETRR…..let’s do this!

In this episode you’ll learn…

  • What my favourite episodes of Escape The Rat Race Radio have been so far, and some of the ‘lessons learned’ from those standout guests
  • What I believe is an honest and realistic time frame for most people to be able to go from PAYE to becoming truly free from their 9-5
  • #ETRR’s recent partnership with www.b1g1.com and how every we’ve turned every transaction with a customer into an act of giving to help people less fortunate than ourselves to gain access to a better quality of life and improved education.
  • The honest account of how my experience of moving from London to Lisbon, Portugal in 2017 turned out - and why it’s not always as easy as it sounds to live the remote lifestyle
  • What to look forward to in Q2 & Q3 2018 - including my first ever book and a brand new #ETRR Business Accelerator Programme

50th EPISODE SPECIAL! FREE GIVEAWAY

I’ve distilled the Lessons Learned from every single #escapees episode into one super-charged and easy to digest download for you, and onto 1 single PDF page.

These 10 tips, in my opinion, are so powerful that if you’re truly serious about changing your situation as quickly as possible, then you should read this list every morning when you wake up, and again before you go to bed.

You really don’t want to miss out on this Freebie so go to www.etrr.online/toptentips, and download this right now.

Have you got a clear picture in your mind of what your ‘perfect life’ looks like?

In John’s own words, he’s just a regular fella who’s worked out exactly what he wants from his life, and through blinkered focus & hard work, has achieved extraordinary success.

I first met John back in 2015, very early into my own journey as a business owner, and it was John’s down to earth manner and no bullshit approach to business and sales training that instantly attracted him to me, so much so that I asked John if he would be my personal business mentor, to which I’m extremely grateful that he agreed.

It was John that pushed me to launching the very first 12 month Business Mentoring Program at Escape The Rat Race at the start of 2016, way before I felt ready to do so, and that in itself show’s the value of having a great mentor who will know when to push you, and when to pull back.

I can’t wait for you to hear some of the nuggets of wisdom that John has in store for you today, so let's just jump right in, and head over to my interview with serial entrepreneur and trusted Escape The Rat Race business mentor, John Kettley.

In this episode you’ll learn…

  • Why you absolutely must figure out what ‘winning’ means to you before you even begin to build a new business
  • Self awareness is the starting block to creating anything great; find out who you really are, and what you really want
  • The story of how one man who had spent 28 yrs working for Natwest Bank, 15 of those as Business Manager, realised that he knew nothing about business...until 2 years after taking redundancy and actually running his own business.
  • The biggest thing that holds people back from starting a business
  • The #1 thing that most people do not do when starting a new business
  • The key points that you need to include on your one page business plan
  • Why peer group mentoring is the fastest way to achieve a solid and positive mindset
  • The morning ritual that John uses to start every single day with gratitude

‘You absolutely will come across challenges on a daily basis. That’s the way it is for Entrepreneurs’

‘Any successful Entrepreneur will tell you that they are a prolific failure’

‘The biggest thing that holds people back from starting a business is their risk aversion’

My guest on the show today is Steve Preston. It’s nearly 17 years ago that, presented with the opportunity to relocate with his company, Steve made a defining career and life choice not to let an employer control his future any longer. This became the start of a journey into the unknown, a huge learning experience which saw Steve find new passions in career and personal development, helping him achieve his own successful career transition.

In this interview, Steve and I discuss the struggles, the fear and the process of how to get your career moving from where you are now as an employee, to what it takes to become a business owner. You’re also going to hear some wonderful perceptions into career success and the entrepreneurial mindset.

Kevin Whelan - Using your pension as the fuel to help you escape the rat race
35 perc 44. rész Christian Rodwell

Do you aspire for complete financial Independence?

My guest on today’s episode is Kevin Whelan, Founder of WealthBuilders, and a close friend and mentor of mine.

In this interview, Kevin candidly talks about his ‘why’ and also talks about the difficulties that people encounter in creating their own watertight plan to achieve complete financial independence.

We also take a closer look at one of the biggest source of retirement wealth in the UK, however it is the most overlooked and certainly the most undervalued, which is pensions. If you have a pension which is hidden away and something that you, like many others, believe can’t be accessed until old age, think again.

During our conversation Kevin makes a special promise to assist anyone listening to gain access to a ‘Pension CPR’, so that you can begin the process of increasing your financial education and potentially tap into this highly overlooked source of funding [click the link in show notes or head to https://www.etrr.online/pensioncpr for more details.

In this episode you’ll learn…

  • How the loss of Kevin’s father at a young age was the catalyst behind Kevin’s decision to achieve financial independence for himself
  • That assets create cash flow, and if you have cash flow then you don’t need to work for that, because you’ve already built it
  • Kevin’s unique definition of what an asset is
  • The 7 assets that have the potential to generate cash flow and increase your wealth
  • Why your pension should absolutely NOT be overlooked and forgotten about any longer
  • The difference between SIPP and SSAS pensions and the benefits over traditional workplace pensions
  • If you own a business and you also have a pension, that you can take ownership of that pension yourself, and become the legal operator, rather than leaving it in the hands of somebody else to manage it for you
  • Kevin’s fascinating insights into what holds most people back from building wealth
  • What the 5 sources of leverage are

Quotes:

‘I would definitely say to anybody now, find someone you resonate with, find a mentor or coach, and make sure that you take advantage of their skills ahead of you’

‘There is a world of difference between income that flows from work, and income that flows from assets; one is temporary and the other is permanent.’

‘You can take money that’s stuck in forgotten pensions, and you can turn it into one of the other assets, which are the exciting entrepreneurial assets.’

‘In order to escape something you have to take action. And the action you take is with the other 4 pillars of wealth, which are the entrepreneurial pillars’

‘There’s a bit of a misnomer that traditionally when you think about pensions, you think ‘I’ve got to be old’ and there’s no access, that money’s locked away. But it’s not true’.

‘It’s the combination of the strategies that makes the acceleration that gets people out of the rat race much more quickly.’

‘If you save money, and then make that money work, you get leverage’

#Escapees - Rob Joyce [Personal Trainer/ Osteopath]
19 perc 43. rész Christian Rodwell

Jay Papasan - Defining Your ONE Thing to Transform Your Daily Productivity
46 perc 42. rész Christian Rodwell

Imagine how much more you could achieve if you were focused on completing the ‘One Thing’ that was going to move you towards achieving your goals each and every day?

In 2003, with the release of The Millionaire Real Estate Agent, co-authored by Gary Keller and Dave Jenks, Papasan became a best-selling author when the book spent time on BusinessWeek’s best-seller list. In 2005, they co-authored their second bestseller, The Millionaire Real Estate Investor.

Jay’s most notable published work came in 2013, when he co-authored one of the leading personal productivity books in the world; The ONE Thing with Gary Keller, which has sold over 1.3 million copies since its release in 2013. The ONE Thing has been translated into 31 languages and has more than 425 national bestseller list appearances, including #1 on the Wall Street Journal.

In this interview, Jay and I discuss his relationship with Gary Keller as not only his co-author, but also his boss and mentor. We then move into discussing the methodology behind ‘The One Thing’ and answering the question; ‘What’s the one thing that I can do, such that by doing it, everything else will be easier or unnecessary?’

Jay shares some wonderful insights into business success, mindset and productivity throughout this conversation, so get your notebooks ready!

In this episode you’ll learn…

  • The story behind Jay having to go and interview 120 net worth millionaires
  • Why setting a goal to be a millionaire with his wife was the turning point in his life
  • The fascinating truth behind the writing of ‘The One Thing’ and why the process took them five years
  • The thing that will drive your business forward is down to one thing: lead generation and sales
  • Research has shown that it takes 66 days to form a habit
  • That it’s not so important ‘what’ you do, it’s important ‘that’ you do
  • Why entrepreneurship isn’t for everybody and sometimes you just have to get out there and give it a go in order to find out
  • Why anyone looking to make the jump from employee to entrepreneur should have at least 3-6 months savings in the bank to ride out the bumps along the way
  • Why you should always look to find a niche where you at least have a chance of becoming the Number One
  • Jay’s fantastic advice for how to engage with a mentor and earn the right to their time

Quotes:

‘Of all the things that you could do, there’s only real a handful that we should be doing’

‘A lot of things masquerade as priorities, but they’re often just things that other people have told you what to do - especially as an entrepreneur’

‘Everything in life, the minority of what we do get’s us the majority of the results, it’s Pareto’s Law’

‘What’s the one thing that I can do, such that by doing it, everything else will be easier or unnecessary?’

‘Willpower is the mental energy to say ‘yes’ to what you need to do and ‘no’ to everything else. And guess what, that’s absolutely strongest in the morning.’

‘If you can focus on bringing value [to your customers] you have the best chance of success’

‘What’s good about fear is that it tells us that it matters to us. We’re not afraid of things that don’t matter’

Michael Veazey - Using Fulfilment by Amazon to Launch your own Ecommerce Business
33 perc 41. rész Christian Rodwell

Are you prepared to commit at least 20 hours every week to launching your own Ecommerce business using Fulfilment by Amazon?

On this week’s episode of Escape The Rat Race Radio I’m pleased to welcome Michael Veazey. He discovered the Amazon Private Label opportunity and loved the creativity of being an online entrepreneur, as well as the time freedom it gives once it’s up and running.

Michael has always loved listening to intelligent “talk” radio (mostly Radio 4) and that expanded to include becoming very inspired by many great business podcasts and blogs over the last few years, like those by Tim Ferriss and Seth Godin.

Although there are now many other good podcasts about selling on Amazon in the USA, they are all aimed at US based sellers. There seemed to be no podcast specifically for Sellers who live in the UK selling in the USA and/or in the UK. So, Michael decided to create it!

In this interview, Michael suggests that Ecommerce is a good opportunity for anyone looking to generate an additional income stream to consider due to it’s rising trend over recent years, with absolutely no sign of things slowing up.

In this episode you’ll learn…

  • Why Amazon FBA can present a great business opportunity, however you do need to be realistic about the amount of starting capital you will require to build a serious business, with £5000 being the minimum amount Michael recommends
  • How Michael implements accountability into his mastermind groups to help his mentees take action towards achieving their Ecommerce goals
  • Why you shouldn’t really consider launching an Ecommerce business alongside your day job unless you can dedicate at least 20 hours per week into managing and growing it
  • The 3 Step Formula that Michael teaches to help brand new Amazon sellers get their first sales on Amazon
  • The process you would need to follow in order to research your chosen products and order samples from Chinese suppliers
  • Why it can be advantageous to dig deeper into a niche once you have discovered what’s working, rather than go broad
  • How Michael’s desire to be on radio led him to launching the Amazing FBA podcast and how he quickly recorded his first episodes
  • What the term ‘retail arbitrage’ means and how you can use this to start selling on Amazon very quickly

Quotes:

‘You can’t just throw a private label on a mediocre product and expect to sell it.’

‘Fear can be telling you useful things, and other times it can just be blocking you’

‘Part of what you need to spend time, money and effort on is exploring different business models thoroughly.’

That success opened his eyes to the opportunity in ecommerce, and also led to Scott creating some of his own digital training products and generating sales income that way as well.

Simon Zutshi - How To Use Property To Escape The Rat Race
42 perc 36. rész Christian Rodwell

Would you like to learn how to use property as your vehicle for Escaping the Rat Race?

He continued to build his property portfolio to the point whereby at the age of 32 he was financially independent.

In 2003 he set up the property investors network (pin) which has now grown to be the largest network of monthly property meetings (52 around the UK) for anyone interested in learning how to become a successful property investor.

Most recently, Simon’s latest entrepreneurial venture was to come up with the idea of  creating a property specialist peer to peer lending platform to facilitate loans between property professionals and private lenders. The platform is called CrowdProperty.

In this interview, Simon discusses why knowing yourself and finding others to help you is so important in the growth of your business, and his Five Golden Rules that anybody wishing to invest in property successfully absolutely must understand.

In this episode you’ll learn…

  • Why your mindset will either be the number one thing that accelerates you or holds you back in your business
  • How Simon ‘accidentally’ figured out how profitable property could be after purchasing his first house and renting out the rooms to his friends
  • The point at which Simon’s Accountant said to him that he was earning more from his part-time property portfolio, than he was by working at his full time day job
  • The circumstances that led to Simon actually starting the very first networking meeting for property investors in the UK in 2003 [Property Investors Network]
  • Why schools are still teaching children to get good grades so that they can get a good job….even though many of the traditional jobs that exist today won’t still be in existence in the next 5-10 years
  • Why it was by the request of a few people who wanted to accelerate their own personal knowledge around property investing that Simon put together his first training event to share his own knowledge to help others
  • How the sooner you are able to bring people in to help you with your business and let you focus on your strengths, that’s when your business will really grow
  • Simon’s Five Golden Rules that anybody wishing to invest in property successfully absolutely must understand

Quotes:

‘One of the most important things that is either going to help you move forward, or is going to hinder you going forward in your business, is absolutely your mindset’

‘The great thing about an investment like property, is that you work once...and you get paid forever.’

‘Whatever you want to do, don’t do it on your own. You don’t have to reinvent the wheel’

‘There are two great times to invest in property; one was about 10-15 years ago...and the other one is right now’

‘Stop trying to guess the market if you’re trying to invest in property, invest for the long-term’

‘If you’re educated, when everyone else is running for the hills, that’s when you can get some of the best [property] opportunities’

After John’s first book was released it spurred the creation of programmes such as The Screw Work 30-day Challenge, with hundreds of people around the world making an idea happen in 30 days. The new ideas and techniques in the 30-day Challenge have had a profound impact on it’s participants, with many sharing stories afterwards of life-changing experiences. When you include all of the live events, Mastermind and Mentorship programmes and consulting to corporations, several thousand people have road-tested the strategies laid out by John in ‘Screw Work Break Free’.

In this interview, John discusses how anybody can start a business with zero competition.

In this episode you’ll learn…

  • How you can create a business with zero competition and instantly be the number one in your field
  • Why it is easier now to solve people’s problems through having your own business than it was 10 years ago
  • How John designed his own exit strategy from the corporate world and what a wonderful feeling it was to do so
  • Why reading lots of books and working with selected coaches helped John to learn the fundamentals of entrepreneurship in the early days of running his business
  • Why the choice of what you do as an entrepreneur is mostly driven by what you love doing rather than money [although money is still important!]
  • Why you should start planning your escape plan whilst you still have a job, and not just jumping ship hoping all will work out fine
  • How you have to actually get outside of your comfort zone and physically test and try some business ideas in order to discover which ones might be the best fit for you

Quotes:

‘I think that I never quite suited jobs, and I assumed that’s what you had to do’

‘The biggest thing that they’ve got to do [employees] if they haven’t run a business before, is to think like an Entrepreneur’

‘If you work for yourself and you go into a job, you’ll be a way better employee, and way more valuable’

‘You need to sell yourself as something that people actually want’

‘A model of Entrepreneurship is a bit more like art. What do you want to give to the world and what do you have that no one else has?’

Kriss Akabusi - The Power of Self Belief and Dreaming Big
38 perc 30. rész Christian Rodwell

What is the right reason to quit your job and start your own business?

On this week's episode of Escape The Rat Race Radio I am very pleased to welcome Olympian, motivational speaker and entrepreneur, Kriss Akabusi.

I recently had the pleasure of meeting Kriss at the London Premiere of the new film adaptation of Napoleon Hill’s Classic Personal Development Book ‘Think & Grow Rich’, and after hearing his inspiring talk to the audience I just knew I had to invite him onto the show!

Having amassed three Olympic medals, as well as World, European and Commonwealth titles, Kriss was bestowed with an even greater honour in 1992: an MBE awarded by her Majesty the Queen in recognition of his services to the country through athletics.

Kriss’ first foray into television and entertainment came when he presented Channel 4’s hit breakfast show, The Big Breakfast.  This was followed with a full time position as co-presenter of the BBC’s legendary Record Breakers, as well as presenting various other children’s TV programmes.

Kriss’ engaging personality, inspirational speaking style, and remarkable backstory soon led to a growing demand for his services as a professional speaker.  For over 20 years, he has given countless keynote speeches and facilitated a wide range of training workshops in the corporate arena, under the umbrella of The Akabusi Company.

Kriss is also an accredited personal coach, having qualified at the Hudson Institute of Santa Barbara.  He works with executives and senior managers to help them identify, clarify and achieve their personal and business goals.

If you check out the video footage from this interview on the Escape The Rat Race website you’ll see some of the behind the scenes laughs that Kriss and I had recording this episode, but more importantly you’ll see the sheer passion that Kriss exudes when he speaks about the potential that we as humans all are blessed with, and I think you’re especially going to be inspired by Kriss’ story of how his upbringing really shaped the success he has gone onto achieve over his career, not just in athletics, but in business too.

So it’s time for me to hand over the baton, pick up the pace, and let’s head on over to my interview with Olympian, MBE holder and motivational speaker, Mr Kriss Akabusi.

Paul Dunn - How To Enjoy Real Purpose and Meaning Through Giving [Part 2]
29 perc 26. rész Christian Rodwell

Wouldn’t it be great if when someone purchased a new book, a tree was planted in exchange?

Wouldn’t it be great, if when someone purchased a new plasma TV, someone without vision got the gift of sight?

Paul is often referred to as a wise mentor and has helped countless individuals improve their business operations. He is an expert at building up those around him and celebrating every achievement, no matter how small. Paul is a member of one of the world’s leading think-tanks and was recently honored with a Lifetime Service Award to the Accounting Profession in the UK (though he’s definitely NOT an accountant!). More recently, he was named as a Social Innovation Fellow in his new home of Singapore - an honour he shares with film-star Jet Li and Wal-Mart Chairman, Rob Walton.

His work as Chairman of the revolutionary B1G1 (Buy One Give One) has been featured in leading-edge publications such as Forbes, Fast Company, Trendwatching, Springwise and online through the key technology newsletter Mashable, as well as Voice of America. Already, B1G1 has created over 117 million giving impacts around the world by allowing businesses to enjoy real purpose and meaning through giving.

In this episode you’ll learn…

  • Why 7 out of 10 people actually feel bad about the word ‘charity’ because they have had a bad experience, and why B1G1 is offering something very different to traditional charities
  • The importance of ‘connection’ and why this is central to having meaning and purpose in our lives
  • How a Jim Rohn Seminar back in 1980 impacted Paul so greatly and inspired him to go on to become a great speaker himself
  • The process Paul uses to prepare himself before he goes on stage to address a large audience
  • That a person’s ‘why’ can change, and you should focus on your why ‘for now’
  • The story Paul shares about Daniel Priestley’s Father which illustrates how the way we show up to our businesses must be the same as we show up for our own health
  • How the United Nations Global Goals emphasised the impact that Entrepreneurs, rather than Governments, are the ones that are best positioned to really make a positive impact in the world
  • The importance of learning how to ‘ship’ - just getting your ideas out there is the only way to receive real feedback

Quotes:

‘We often think that when we give, it is the recipients that are the beneficiaries. The reality is that we are the beneficiaries by being allowed to do that’ - Paul Dunn, on behalf of Jessica.

‘Some people are going round and round on the rat wheel with no meaning and purpose’

Fredrik Sandvall - Why Entrepreneurs Need To Learn How To Ask For Money
32 perc 22. rész Christian Rodwell

Does the thought of achieving financial freedom for you and your family drive you the most when it comes to escaping the rat race?

On this week’s episode of Escape The Rat Race Radio, I’m very pleased to welcome former special forces captain in the Swedish marines, now turned serial entrepreneur, mentor and successful property investor, Fredrik Sandvall.

Our main topic of discussion this week is Entrepreneur funding, and why so many people starting out in business, in fact generally, find it so difficult to talk about money.

After so many years within the corporate world, Fredrik decided to focus on his own business, and along with his brother Mattias, they decided to work closely with the Property Investors Network (PIN) in the UK, transferring his knowledge of raising finance in business, to working with other investors and establishing a property portfolio with a value of over £5m within the first 12 months.

Fredrik has since focused on his love of helping other individuals to achieve their own financial goals by mentoring other aspiring entrepreneurs, with several having gone on to raise multiple millions in less than a year!

In this episode you’ll learn…

  • Why having a strong discipline can help you to tackle problems head on and move you forwards towards your goals
  • Why there is no such thing as a ‘self-made millionaire’
  • The huge benefits that come from gaining good quality training in the area you want to build your business, and why the peer group that comes with that is so important
  • Why you do not necessarily need to be the one with the money in order to begin investing in property
  • Why working with a business partner can help you to develop your business faster, especially if they have complementary skills to you
  • The property strategy that Fredrik and his brother Mattias used to acquire £5m of property within 12 months using other people’s money
  • The key to raising money is always to find out what you can do for the other person, not what they can do for you
  • What one of the major reasons why people in business do not achieve success as quickly as they should do
  • The many different sources of funding available today, and why banks can still be one of the best
  • How the biggest investment you can make, is the one in yourself

Quotes:

‘How can we learn about money, when we can’t talk about it?’

‘I love the term self-made millionaire, but it is completely flawed. I don’t think anyone would make unless they work with other people’

‘Pick your partners carefully, and the same with your mentors and teachers’

‘If you don’t dare to ask anyone, you will never get anything [money] at all’

‘What holds people’s success back is they don’t dare to ask [for money] in the first place’

‘The key step to ‘act’ on what you already know that you should do, that is the gamechanger’

Gary Chappell - Former CEO of Nightingale Conant & Napoleon Hill World Ambassador
34 perc 21. rész Christian Rodwell

Would you like a rare glimpse behind the scenes of Nightingale Conant, the World’s leading company in personal development over the last 50 years?

On this week’s episode of Escape The Rat Race Radio, I am very proud to welcome former Nightingale Conant CEO, and newly appointed World Ambassador for The Napoleon Hill Foundation, Gary Chappell.

An endorsement and joint venture with this man is considered the pinnacle of success by many up-and-coming gurus. He has worked with Anthony Robbins, Brian Tracy, Denis Waitley, Joe Vitale, Deepak Chopra, Marianne Williamson, Robert Kiyosaki, Earl Nightingale, and many, many others in the self-help and personal development fields. Many can trace their quantum leaps to the day they connected with this man.

Nightingale-Conant, which was founded in 1960, is known as the world’s largest publisher of self-help and career-building information in the form of CDs, videos, and digital downloads.

“We really target commuters, people who can use that downtime to educate themselves to further a career,” Chappell said. “We teach people critical success skills they don’t learn in universities.”

Retiring isn’t in Chappell’s DNA. As he says it, why would anyone ever quit changing lives for the better?

Chappell feels his greatest opportunity to help others lies ahead since he began working with The Napoleon Hill Foundation. Almost everyone he has worked with refers back to Napoleon Hill and his remarkable body of work. Chappell feels there’s no better wealth-building information out there than Napoleon Hill’s.

In this episode you’ll learn…

  • How Gary started as a Carpenter at Nightingale Conant and worked his way up to becoming CEO
  • Which was the first audio recording that Gary listened to which switched him onto a lifelong dedication to his own and so many others personal development
  • Out of all the great titles which Nightingale Conant published, one in particular remained the best seller for quite some time
  • How one of the greatest kung-fu fighters of all time credited his success to the book ‘Think & Grow Rich’ by Napoleon Hill
  • Which audio recording was the only ever spoken-word recording to earn a gold record
  • Why the internet has made it easy for many people to become self-proclaimed authorities, when actually they are not

Quotes:

‘When I first met Robert Kiyosaki he had just arrived from Australia where his book ‘Rich Dad Poor Dad’ was gaining ground, yet he had no popularity whatsoever in the United States.’

‘It was very inspiring to see how many people’s lives were changed by our programmes’

‘Andrew Carnegie felt like he had a plan that would help people follow in his footsteps, so he recruited Napoleon Hill to interview some of the greatest minds in the World, and the end result was the well known publication, ‘Think and Grow Rich’’

‘Once the cassette came out, that really revolutionised how recordings could be listened to. That really was the start of the growth period for Nightingale Conant’

‘For the most part, I worked my way up to the CEO position, by being very good at solving problems’

‘I believe there is now an over-abundance of information out there and it’s kind of hard to tell who to follow’

‘The thing about Tony [Robbins] is that he filled a room with more presence than any individual I’ve ever met’

‘The internet has only given us easier and quicker access to the information we need to be successful’

John Strelecky - Discovering Your Big Five For Life (Part 2)
28 perc 19. rész Christian Rodwell

Have you ever asked yourself the question ‘How do I win the game of life, for me?’.

In 2002, Strelecky left his career as a consultant to large companies, and spent almost a year backpacking around the world. Upon his return, he re-entered the world of consulting, but found his interest in the work was gone. While sitting on a plane coming back from a client engagement, he wrote out the start of a speech to answer the question, “What would I tell someone right now is the meaning of life?”

The next day he sat down at his computer and started what turned out to be a twenty-one day stream of consciousness typing experience. At the end of the twenty-one days, Strelecky knew the experience had ended. What was on the pages turned out to be his first book, originally titled ‘The Why Are You Here Cafe’.

John now teaches his ‘Big Five For Life’ methodology to students all over the world through his training company, and fulfils his own purpose for existing every day, which is to help people discover and live their life’s purpose.

In this episode you’ll learn…

  • Why working with a mentor can speed up your journey so much faster than trying to figure everything else out by yourself
  • Why good mentors want to work with people who want help, and want to get from point A to point B
  • What ‘mad how disease’ is and why you need to avoid this!
  • What the concept of ‘sampling’ is and how you can apply it to your life to enjoy more success
  • Your hobbies are the clues in the way you would spend the majority of your time if you didn’t have to go to your job

Quotes:

‘Your hobbies are the clues in the way you would spend the majority of your time if you didn’t have to go to your job’

‘I firmly believe at this point in my life, that my path to success is rapidly accelerated by working with someone who can get me there faster’

'How clear is your vision of your future?'

In this week's episode of Escape The Rat Race Radio I am so pleased to invite one of my own personal business mentors, and somebody that I have followed and respected for a number of years, Roger Hamilton.

In this interview with Roger we discuss the question of 'How clear is your vision of your future?', and why most of us only have a hazy picture of where we’re going because things are changing too rapidly and we believe too much of the future is out of our control. Not true! The leaders and entrepreneurs you admire had a very clear image of their future, and took the steps to make it happen. At Entrepreneurs Institute, Roger ensures that everyone he works with as a mentor develops a ‘future vision’ which not only serves you, it shapes the world we are creating together.

We also talk about why right now is the time why you should be making sure you are part of the entrepreneur movement, and how you can be a part of it very easily by watching the video series Roger has recently shot Bali, the home of Vision Villas, the first entrepreneur resort in the world.

In this episode you’ll learn…

  • Why 2017 is now a critical moment in history for entrepreneurship to be able to really shape our future
  • Why the richest man in China, Jack Ma, warns that the next 30 years are going to be extremely challenging for those people who are not ready to adapt to change
  • Roger’s three most important things if you want to change your future (The three E’s)
  • Why the traditional education system is still teaching from the textbook and how personalised mentoring is now gaining such popularity
  • About Roger’s GeniusU online learning platform connecting Entrepreneurs together worldwide, and how it is about to become one of the leading forward-facing artificial intelligence platforms
  • The world’s largest and most successful companies are mostly offline companies embracing online technology, such as Airbnb and Uber
  • How you can connect with other socially conscious entrepreneurs in your local city at one of the Entrepreneurs Social events
  • Why one of the most important factors for success is to surround yourself with other people committed to your success

Quotes:

‘The more you go on an entrepreneurial journey you realise that it is a journey of self-awareness’

’Your business is just a mirror of yourself’

‘Intellectuals are people that need to know in order to do, but Entrepreneurs are people that need to do in order to know’

‘Resourcefulness is the number one key to success in life’

‘Transformation doesn’t come from following your past habits, it comes from starting new habits which are the ones you’re not following right now’

‘There’s a limit to what you can get, but no limit to what you can give’

‘Success is not how committed you are to your own success, it’s how much you are surrounded by other people that are committed to your success’

‘The more you help other people, the more you’re going to find people reaching out to help you to’

‘A business isn’t a business because it has a product, a business is a business when it has a customer’
