You remember a time before CO-VID 19, that you would go into a grocery store and they would have free samples? What was the beauty of that? Well, it is the classic, "Try before you buy." Plus usually, there would be some coupons to go with it. As a creator, musician, artist, etc, What I see, and have fallen victim to myself for years is doing the complete opposite. How often do you get or listen to something you have no clue where it is from? Unless the source has some sort of reputation, the majority of the time you are going to stick to what you know. I watched a video on youtube breaking down on average how many songs does it take to "Pop" or "Blow". From what I found it is it takes about 34 songs. Now for a lot of artists I know, including myself, we have more albums released instead of singles. A Single is like a sample in the grocery store, A clip, or a preview is the same as a simple in the grocery store. Does that mean stop dropping albums or that they are irrelevant? No, not at all. Just like the sample of the product in the grocery store isn't more important than the full product itself. The single gives a route to the album. The sample gives a route to the product. The trailer gives a route to the movie and so on. Now, what if you did the Russ strategy? Which was dropping singles every day etc? Well from what I've learned an observed, once someone has done it and gain some success it will be instantly flooded with artist using that same strategy. Plus the reach on Soundcloud and other platforms do not have the same touch as it did when he was doing it years ago, so that specific way might not work anymore. You also want to give yourself an ample amount of time to promote a single. A month or two or three of finding new ways to promote the single. To put it into perspective, with one single song, you can create multiple remixes. You can create a video visualizer, lyric video, in-studio video, original music video, images with a lyric or two from the song. See where I'm going with this? Anyway, all this is talked about in this podcast as well as Happy Halloween, Rip Sean Connery, and Safe Full Moon rituals out there today!

One of the biggest issues people (including myself) have is being consistent. I realized while looking back on things I was consistent on, that those things had a finish line. A book? Page count. An album? A concrete release date and/or a concept. Losing weight? An amount to gain or lose. Just like with this 90-day podcast challenge. The goal is to record and release a podcast 6 days a week Monday through Saturday for 90 days. If your plan of action does not have a goal with steps of completion it is pretty difficult to be consistent. This is why I think some find it difficult to stick with putting out content or posting on their youtube channel because the goal of monetization is a long road that if you don't have goals and rewards along the way, like celebrating milestones, you lose the want to continue.

They think they always have to be in front of the camera or recording audio. Nope. There is something else you are able to do. Curation! Think about an interest and literally make clips for that interest and make a page for it. That is value. Being able to make a place online for other people who like that interest is bringing value.

Working for yourself can be very trying, but it's supposed to! If it wasn't everyone would be doing it lol. This episode is if you are feeling down, like is this worth it? Should I keep going? Etc, this is for you. It's tough, you can market and promote, get a bunch of likes or not a lot, and people will just not buy. It happens. The main thing to remember during this time is you should 100% still be pushing your craft, product, service, etc because there are people that are financially fine right now. Even those who are not how are you engaging with them? The thing is you cannot always tell, so it really shouldn't be on your mind like that. Some people can "look broke" and be rich af, then there are those that look rich and be broke af lol. That is social media for you. It's important to understand no matter if you are working for yourself or a musician or artist, that potential clients, customers, family, friends, are NOT OBLIGATED TO GET YOUR SHIT lol. Please understand and swallow that pill. It is your job to present it, market, promote it in a way that converts. So yes, the thought creeps in my mind, but I always have to check myself. The main thing is to Keep Going! Something worthwhile doesn't happen overnight :) Also, remember how social media algorithms work and know that a platform is also a business, so there are going to be stuff you can do for free or organic reach and there are parts you have to pay for. Lol, we just don't want to pay. If you are frustrated with your reach, buy some 5 dollar ads every week. Start small. You got this.

We know WLM the issue is that the USA as a system and a place does not treat black lives or people of color lives like it matters. You got data showing that over 90% of recent protests have been peaceful despite what the media would show or say. Normally I don't even do this type of stuff, but her toxic nonsense spewing out her mouth on a platform with thousands of people watching her and a channel view count surpassing a few mil, she and people like her are dangerous. Don't be fooled, the thugs created in the street were created by the thugs in power. That is the real threat. This is not left vs right, this is human life.
