Like many young writers, Javan Bonds dreams almost daily of the apocalypse – usually one populated by the walking dead. But his real-life day-to-day existence is almost as challenging as the world of zombies and collapsing civilizations. Javan, now 30 years old, legally blind and functionally deaf, and with congestive heart failure was diagnosed with Friedrich’s Ataxia, a form of muscular dystrophy, at the age of 11. In December 2015 doctors gave him six months to two years to live. Though that pronouncement has changed now and his health has improved somewhat, in that moment he decided that if he was going, he would leave something of himself behind to be remembered. So began his writing and publishing career.
