Today, your host Lo is opening up the pod by discussing the season finale of America, AKA the not so United States of America, AKA the first couple weeks of 2021. As always, he’s sharing his honest and real thoughts no matter the topic, and this topic is one that can’t be ignored. Not so different from the current state of American politics is another topic... cults! It’s only fitting that a sex cult scholar and reality TV and documentary Queen, Kate Casey, is joining Lo for this episode to dive into all things NXIVM. You might know Kate from her podcast Reality Life where she interviews reality stars, producers, and directors from all the shows and docs you love, including those centered on the NXIVM cult.
Kate and Lo discuss the differences between East and West Coast living as well as the current state of Orange County influencers before diving into the topic we’re all curious about: NXIVM, its members, and the leader himself, Keith Raniere. Kate describes how Keith was able to influence the rich and powerful, why she couldn’t have been recruited herself, and how the world of reality TV often mimics the always interesting world of cults. Plus, Lo shares his personal experiences with cults including Scientology and NXIVM and gets into what he thinks about the many NXIVM documentaries out there. Aren’t we glad Lo turned to podcasts instead of sex cults?

Welcome to 2021, Lo Lifers! On today’s solo episode, Lo is giving a recap of his family time in the OC during the break, life lessons learned in 2020, and sharing his favorite binge-worthy shows with you. As always, The Lo Show is a judgment-free zone where your host is always keeping it real, raw, and authentic when it comes to his life and his thoughts on the world around him, and today’s episode is no different. Lo shares his awkward Scientology moment at the Celebrity Center in Hollywood and talks about that one time he ended up at Nxium sex cult party.
He is also diving into a new segment, The Lo Down, where we find out why your typical Scrabble-bitch of a host is thinking about stepping up his chess game and why he is not happy about the new Netflix series centered on one of his idols: Selena Quintanilla.
This episode has something for everyone and offers a helpful perspective on moving forward after the the dumpster fire of a year we all experienced. Until next week!

Lo sits down for an intimate conversation with his mentor, confidant and best friend-his mama. Affectionately known as The Queen, the two open up at the family dinner table where deep convos & words of advice have been the staple since his childhood.
His mama, The Queen is a badass businesswoman and at the core of her being is a selfless mother. She opens up about her experience with abuse, true forgiveness and how trauma shaped her parenting style. She also gives humorous insight on her personal challenge to bond with baby Lo and remaining sane during his teenage rebellion (it includes burning sensations and pubic hair)
There’s definitely laughter throughout the episode and some tears as the mother-son duo grow closer than ever before. The two reminisce about Lo’s late grandmother, AKA the Hispanic Dolly Parton, as well as breaking societal norms and gender roles through Lo’s childhood.
You can expect more conversations as this may be the first of more appearances from the shy Queen on life lessons. This personal invite to the family table will definitely be a motherly dose of insight, advice and laughter.
