the shinfo X desmond podcast
Talking to my friends about anything and nothing. For fans of Aussie Hardcore and Punk music. Born in Byron Bay. Available Everywhere!
This episode is about mental health and dedicated to the friends we have lost due to suicide. Pete bloke and Crafter give their thoughts on the current tragic events that have been occurring far too frequently. I play songs from the bands these guys used to be in and want to highlight the importance of a strong friendship group that has your interests in mind. Stay strong.
As one, we'll make it count, as one we'll make a difference.
Me and pete caught up with our long time friend Russ from the punk bands GOOD RIDDANCE & ONLY CRIME. This bloke is punk rock royalty, i have been listening to his band since i started high school and he is a super nice vegan straight legend that we can now call friend. We talk all about the start of his music career, US politics, touring and life in 2021. Share the shinfo and subscribe. But more importantly leave me a review on apple podcasts. xxx
The most metal dude to ever grace the podcast and the biggest guitar shredder i've ever seen. Mick is in Aversions Crown, and i used to be his room mate on the gold coast. He has been coming to byron bay shows since the early days and is a full blown yes man legend that gets himself into interesting situations by just saying yes. Listen to his stories and see what happens.
Today my special guest is Joel Attenborough, this guy has been in plenty of great hardcore and punk bands in his time, and is the guy that gave me alot of help starting this podcast because he runs his own much more professional sounding podcast called Myage Podcast. i should say the word podcast again i think. We have known each other for years and we talk about life, music and burritos. what else would you want to listen to huh.
start your year off right by listening to 2 sad desmonds talk about their year and the predictions they have for the future. i play 4 rock songs for no particular reason and be warned. MY MICROPHONE IS HORRENDOUS DURING THE INTERVIEW, but hey whats new. happy 2021 shinfoxdesmonders.

--- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/shinfoxdesmond0/messageBack by popular demand, forced out of retirement by the hardcore community. The podcast that the scene never knew they needed or wanted has returned with the 2 biggest legends in Australian hardcore. Firstly my co host and hardcore enthusiast PETE BLOKE is back to talk about life after the first SMASH show, and secondly Voted biggest legend and biggest dickhead of the year for pretty much every issue in the Blunt magazine poll its CRAFTER. Him and pig are the only 2 guests that have cracked over 1000 listens so i thought id get him back to get some popularity back. Exclusive SMASH news is announced plus i play the entire EP for you at the end. buckle up the shinfo lord has returned.
--- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/shinfoxdesmond0/messageThe final guest of the final episode is ME. Pete interviews me and i give my hardcore story. Its mostly just talking about touring and name dropping the bands i have worked for and how many gigs Parkway Drive did in the old days. I have a great memory of dates and times so its basically just a time line of my life, with plenty of shinfo as usual. Thanks for the support. See you in hell.
--- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/shinfoxdesmond0/messageWhat happens when you get the 2 biggest podcasts in Australian Hardcore together? You get 4 guys on zoom talking absolute shinfo and saying hardcore this and hardcore that for an hour. i played some songs that got the forge ahead dudes into hardcore and talk about their current bands too. i am extra loud and shit on this conversation and Petes internet connection is so F%CKD that we can barely hear him. Enjoy.
--- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/shinfoxdesmond0/messageGrim Reality are by far the toughest band in Australian hardcore history and todays guest is the frontman DIMMA. He is definitely a man with alot of stories and Pete Abordi had a great chat with him, about the history of the band and the way the scene was back in the early 90's. This wraps up our 3 part mini series of Australian Hardcore Legends, thanks to all involved and hopefully this has inspired you to dust of those old CDs and vinyls and give them another spin. HARDCORE LIVES.
--- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/shinfoxdesmond0/messageMe and Pete Abordi my co- host decided that you need more shinfo in your life, so today we chat random shinfo together and put together a list of 5 really good songs each of Aussie hardcore pre 2001. You might learn about a few old bands that you didn't know before or if you are OLD like us then you might hear some songs you've forgotten about. We love hardcore and we couldn't leave you hanging for another full week before the next episode so here is bonus weekend shinfo. Enjoy.
--- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/shinfoxdesmond0/messagePart 2 of my Legends of Hardcore Series and today this guest and his band would go down as the longest running active Aussie hardcore band, with an almost 30 year career. I doubt you'll find anyone that doesn't love Mindsnare and thats the way it should be. Matt is an absolute legend and him and Pete have a great conversation talking about things from way back in the day and even chat about Within Blood which were amazing too. I decided to play 4 songs today but i could have played many more. Thanks again for the support, like and share this so more people can hear about it and don't forget to stay shinfo...
--- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/shinfoxdesmond0/messagePart 1 of 3 of my Legends of Hardcore Series. Todays episode is a very special moment for me and if someone told me 20 years ago that id have a podcast with this guy as the guest id have laughed in your face. Even though the interview was conducted by Pete Abordi we have pretty much become the same person these days. I want to thank Luke Dolan for taking out the time in isolation to talk about this part of his life which is now over 25 years ago. Get ready for a history lesson of Newcastle hardcore and everything Luke Crew. Share this around so it goes out to all the old crew that might not know about this podcast.

--- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/shinfoxdesmond0/messageTodays guest has such a long history with the hardcore scene that if you don't know who he is, then you must be dead. He has toured for over 15 years, seen more of the world than most people and was in some amazing bands too. He is super strong advocate for veganism and animal rights and has been straight edge for over 22 years. Also a guy that i have spent more time touring the world and eating naughty treats with than anyone else. We have a great conversation about how it all started and how it is today and everything in between, plus i play alot of music aswell. Enjoy the shinfo!!
FEATURED BANDS: SHOT POINT BLANK, ONE NATION UNDER, 100 DEMONS.
--- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/shinfoxdesmond0/messageTodays episode is with Mark Boulton or Crazy Mark to his friends. He is the singer of Shackles, has OCD and does stand up comedy. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/shinfoxdesmond0/messagePart 2 with the Notorious Michael Crafter. Now that we are all caught up on the early days of his life, we go all the way back to the start of our friendship and talk about his music career, his touring life and even his brief stint as a TV celebrity. We also touch on life as a father, business man and his theories on coronavirus. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/shinfoxdesmond0/messageToday on the show we get the full inside story into the life of Michael Crafter. Never before told stories of growing up in Aldinga, how he got into punk/hardcore and meeting all the people that has shaped his life for the last 25 years. We find out about him turning straight edge at 17, starting all the early bands and then how the formation of I Killed The Prom Queen actually happened. This stuff happened over 20 years ago so i am pretty impressed with his memory on it all. Get ready for a trip down memory lane with the biggest legend in the game.
--- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/shinfoxdesmond0/messageAlright welcome back, we made it to episode 2 i'm actually pretty surprised. I have overcome my dodgy sounding interviews i hope and managed to chat to the busy bloke that is James Washington AKA Big Jim. He has been involved with the Adelaide Hardcore scene since the mid 90's and has toured the country more times than anyone. We get into how the scene became such a powerful force producing some of the best bands in Australia at the time and how different touring was back in those days. No internet, no phone, no GPS. It sounds like hell to me so strap yourself in for the most shinfo you will hear all week.
--- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/shinfoxdesmond0/messageWelcome to my first episode, today i chat with my best friend pete abordi about the early days of his bands, touring stories and how life is after touring. we dont even cover a fraction of his story so i think he will be a regular guest. This is all new to me so bear with me until i find out how this all works xxx
