St. Matthew’s Graveyard - Ville de Québec
Saint-Matthew Cemetery is a true haven of peace in the heart of Saint-Jean-Baptiste. It has been restored by the City of Québec, respecting the peaceful spirit of the place. It is estimated that 6,000 to 10,000 people were buried there between 1772 and 1860. Like many ancient cemeteries, the majority of the deceased were buried anonymously. However, many anecdotes, sometimes dramatic, have been noted by historians. Let yourself be guided by historian David Mendel on this 40-minute circuit. In 12 stations you can hear the story of the 580 people on the 314 headstones.
