The Moms in Prayer podcast is a place where we are encouraged and equipped as moms so we can better pray for, and impact the next generation. Our hearts desire is for every school, in every nation, all around the world, to be covered in prayer.

About our Guest:
Fern Nichols is a former elementary school teacher and the founder of Moms in Prayer International, a prayer movement that mobilizes women around the world to gather together to pray for their children and schools. In 1984, Fern was fearful about sending her two eldest children off to junior high. She knew the school would be a battlefield for their hearts and minds. She realized the warfare would be intense and to fight in this battle she needed to invite other moms to pray. She called a mom and asked her to pray with her for their children and school. Her response was an immediate “yes,” and that was the humble beginning of Moms in Prayer that now spans the USA in every state and is in more than 150 countries.Fern has traveled to almost every continent in the world speaking, teaching and training women how to pray effectively.She and her husband Rle have been married 53 years. They were involved with Campus Crusade for Christ (now CRU) for 15 years. They have four children and 10 grandchildren.

Stephanie McDermott has been with MIPI in a leadership role for over 16 years. She has lived in 5 different countries spanning the Middle East, Europe, Asia Pacific and India, and has been a MIPI leader in each country she has lived in.
Hosting groups in her home, other women’s homes, in churches, villages Stephanie is always willing to spread the 4 Steps of Prayer. She has trained many moms that still continue to lead groups in all the countries. Now back in USA, Stephanie holds the position of State Coordinator for Florida and also has a role on the Global Ministry side of MIPI. She is an International Leader Developer for India, Singapore & Sri Lanka.
Her life is an eventful one, as each new day brings her alongside wonderful opportunities to introduce moms to the power of prayer; and cover our next generation of leaders for Christ and His Kingdom’s work; here in USA and Asia Pacific. Stephanie is a mom of two third culture kids, and along with her husband William, they all support her passion for MIP. Cathi Armitage is the Global Ministry Director for Moms in Prayer International and has been involved in the ministry for over twenty years. Cathi’s team oversees 145 countries, helping to encourage and train leaders. Cathi and her high school sweetheart, Matt, have been married for over thirty years and have three sons and one daughter who know and love Jesus. Cathi and Matt live in Southern California where she enjoys cooking with and for her family. She also enjoys hiking in the local canyons and standup paddle boarding in the Pacific, where she watches the rest of her family surf. It is during those times that they all experience God’s glorious creation up close and personal.
Susan Shepherd joyfully serves as the USA Country Coordinator for Moms in Prayer International. When she began praying 22 years ago as a group member, she could never have predicted that she would follow the Lord into leadership as a Group Leader, Area Coordinator, Alabama State Coordinator, Division Coordinator of the Mid-Atlantic and New England, and finally into this role as Country Coordinator. Susan is the wife of her husband, Joe, mom to her two married daughters, and the grandmother of one adorable grandson and another grandbaby on the way. Susan loves to pray, but she also loves coffee with friends, traveling, a good book, and a nap.

Christina Gard is the Associate Professor of Psychology at Southeastern University and serves alongside her husband as Lead Pastor of GraceCity Church in Lakeland, Florida. She holds a B.A. in Communication and Organizational Management from Northwest University, an M.S. in Human Services, and she's pursuing an M.A. in Ministerial Leadership. Christina has been a licensed pastor since 2009. Prior to teaching at SEU, she was a part of the faculty at Northwest University in the College of Ministry and was the children's pastor at Puyallup Foursquare Church in Puyallup, Washington. Christina held the title of Miss Alaska and competed at Miss America in 2005, serving as a national spokesperson for Childhelp USA through which she worked to break the silence surrounding child abuse, and is currently an advocate for Compassion International. In 2018, Andrew and Christina became parents to a beautiful set of twins named Justice and Adriana. They are passionate about introducing people to Jesus and seeing lives transformed. When Angela Ray Rodgers’s daughter, Grace Anna, was in the womb, doctors advised her to end her pregnancy. The disabilities and challenges her daughter would face seemed insurmountable. Kay West is a grateful servant of the Lord Jesus Christ because of His grace and mercy. Many stories of the amazing work God did during that time can be found in Kay's book, "Refiner's Fire--My Walk with God in the Kingdom of Swaziland." This group has transitioned over the years and is now filled with praying grandmothers! Prayer is Stacy Callender’s passion. As Moms in Prayer Southern California State Coordinator, prayer has also become her first resort, privilege and joy. She has been involved with the ministry since her oldest daughter went off to kindergarten in 1999. Stacy and her husband, Scott, have been married for 23 years. Together they have four amazing children. Their oldest just graduated from college and the other three are following close behind. Stacy enjoys spending her free time cheering on her four children in cross country, soccer, lacrosse and track and field events, as well as reading and hiking.

Kate Rietema grew up with a Moms in Prayer mom and made the choice early in her parenting journey to continue the tradition. She and her husband, Tony, live in West Michigan with their family of 5 girls. Kate and Tony are foster parents and are in the final stages of adopting their youngest daughter.
