Two Guys Trying This Podcasting Thing Out
Following our conversation from the young ladies in Episode 38, Who Done Did It, we’ve gotten a lot of requests from our listeners to have them back on. This time accompanied by our good friend Chowder from the Let’s Talk About It Podcast. In this lighthearted episode, we reminisce about our times growing up in the U.S. The different parenting styles our parents practiced in a society in which they weren’t from and whether they were strict or flexible. Many of us coming from immigrant backgrounds didn’t have the luxury of the things we saw on TV, but we made the most of it. The question then remains, how are we going to parent our own children? Are we going to take upon the same things our parents put us through or are we going to be more understanding? Tune in to find out.

In just our 2nd podcast crossover, we had the pleasure of chatting with the host of the No Limit Radio, Wais. As a DMV native, he has discovered the beauty and fun of doing podcasts and the struggles that have come with it. No Limit Radio is a platform where he describes it as “anything goes”, there is absolutely No Limit to where the conversations can go. We can’t express how much fun we had with this episode, so we invite you to listen to the this 2 for 1 podcast with the No Limit Radio.

Over the last few years, unlike any other time in history, we have seen the increase in attentiveness within the political realm in America. Mostly due to the antics of President Donald Trump and his historic campaign run to make him the most powerful man in the world. In this episode, we've invited our good friend Ismail Mohamed, the very first Somali graduate from The Ohio State University, school of Mortiz Law. He shares his experiences about his own political campaign running for House Representative of Columbus’ District 25. Unfortunately, falling short against the incumbent, that did not stop him from achieving success. He has since opened his own legal practice of Ismail Mohamed Esq. Ismail has shown a great deal of resilience and passion for politics as he strategizes his next campaign for office.

Health & Wellness is one of the most important things that can lead to a good quality of life. Many of us do not take the proper steps to lead into that cause. Whether it may be in physical activities, or mental health, it takes a great deal of dedication and consistency to stay healthy. In this episode, we invited two young women Shukri (Registered Nurse) & Ubah (Family Nurse Practitioner) to talk to us about the importance of health. Growing up in a community where there wasn’t many people that would speak for them in the medical field, they sought out to become just that for the many others that weren’t so privileged. Their organization, Central Ohio Somali Medical Association (COSMA) is a network of Somali professionals in healthcare that provides assistance to the Somali community. We applaud these young women for coming up with a solution to a problem we’ve had in the Somali community for a long time and support their efforts.

Continuing our conversation from last week with Abdullahi & the start of Hoyo’s Kitchen, we dive deep into the business aspect of it. Abdullahi provides the day-to-day struggles he faced early on and just how long it took Hoyo’s Kitchen to become successful. With little to no experience in running a restaurant, Abdullahi shows just how much hard work & sacrifice is needed in this industry. As Hoyo’s Kitchen is opening it’s second location in North Market in the Short North Area of Columbus, we are comfortable to say Hoyo’s Kitchen is the face of Somali food.

As President Trump solidifies himself as much more than a household name, he is building himself a legacy. Whether that legacy be good or bad, it’s becoming an undeniable reality we all must accept. We can all agree that the safety and security of America is very important to us all, but how can that be advanced? Is a wall really that necessary? Is the erection of that wall going to be that much more effective that we can feel ever more safe than we are? Or is this wall just the advancement of Trump’s legacy? We hope you enjoy this week's episode as we tackle all those questions and more! ????

Hard-work, dedication, patience and sacrifice are some of the ingredients to the formula of success. In this episode, the Big Bros explain how they used these four key ingredients in their own lives. These four factors helped us get to where we are today and we hope to continue this projection of growth & success. It is also these same four factors that allows Nipsey Hussle’s legacy to live on after his unfortunate death. His teachings of self-improvement, positivity and class is what helped him have such an impact on the world. Nipsey died at the tender age of 33, but left a legacy that will forever be talked about in a positive light.

Muslim Youth of Central Ohio (MYCO), an organization established here in Columbus dedicated to the development of young Muslims. We invite some of the brothers involved to talk about the basketball league that was created in July of 2018, in which MYCO has become a staple in our community. The congregation of youth that would have otherwise never come together, started to make strong friendships amongst each other, each one building upon a level of respect both for their basketball skills and who they are outside of the court. As the goals and missions of MYCO are coming to fruition, we can see that this is the beginning of something beautiful. We welcome you to listen to the experiences of a few players and coaches as they share what it's like to be involved in this great organization.

We as humans all want to be loved, admired and respected to a certain degree. It has been like that in the past, it still is in the present and undoubtedly will be the same in the future. But how did social media change the landscape of our most common humanly characteristics? Whether you call it fame, attention or clout, the underlying theme of it all is having the spotlight, and in this case, that is the accruement of a substantial amount followers one may have. It has almost become like an addictive drug, wanting to be seen & wanting to be followed to the extent that people sometimes lose their respect to gain those things. In this episode The Big Bros shed light on what it means to be popular, the trendy society that we live in and how even big multinational businesses are taking part in this “Clout War”. What is education? Merriam-Webster defines education as the field of study that deals mainly with methods of teaching and learning in schools. An age old concept, knowledge is a necessity for the survival and the well-being of us all, whether that comes in the form of experience or lessons taught from parent to offspring. In essence, they all have one goal in hand, for the betterment of people. Now we can bore you about knowledge and why it is so important, but why do that? The Big Bros go deep into their college education experiences, give you never before heard stories and the difficulties they had faced while attending OSU. Many of us go into college not knowing what we want to do, but even after we finish we may find ourselves in a stage of limbo. So what have we learned from all of this? Well you’ll just have to listen to find out. Hope you enjoy! ????

This week we discuss how we here in Columbus, OH were blessed with great weather and cheap gas in early January, but things took a swift turn one day later. We then move on to the real discussion of whether MacKenzie Bezos should receive $69B (yes that B means BILLION) after her divorce from the founder of Amazon Jeff Bezos. A topic that gets us all sick to our stomach is what R.Kelly did to those young girls. The Lifetime Documentary really showed us how much of a monster he was. Last but not least, can Tim Tebow, a wealthy and successful man, be a virgin at 31 even though he’s engaged to Miss Universe 2017? Find out what we think about that. Hope you enjoy! ????

What do you get when you bring the only 5 Black students in the entire Industrial Design program at The Ohio State University? You get the FIVE ID Studio and the inventors of the revolutionary protein bottle, the Titan Mixer Bottle. FIVE ID Studio stands for five industrial designers, a testament to their creativity and innovative ability to create nothing into something. On this exclusive Big Bros episode, we had the opportunity to sit down with only 2 members of the starting 5, Adan & Mohamed Rage. The Big Bros were invited into their studio where all the magic happens. We were greeted with blueprints, designs and prototypes of many things still in the works. We discussed their journey, how the two companies came about their live television appearances on Shark Tank & Most Valuable Partner (MVP). These gentlemen’s accomplishments are too much to summarize here in the description so we hope you enjoy this episode as we bring you the five industrial designers, that are changing the world, one innovation at a time.

In this weeks episode, The Big Bros sit down to discuss various topics that have been going viral on the “Twitters”. We start off with our thoughts on the new Avengers: Endgame trailer and the reboot of some tv shows. We talk about Blackfishing and the controversy that surrounds some Instagram models who partake in it, what it means to “talk white” and the hyper sensitivity in today's society. We then shift our focus to the cigarette company Marlboro, who have bought a 45% stake in the cannabis company, Cronos Group, which is a gutsy business move that may indicate whether or not the US will be legalizing marijuana soon. Is Blackfishing a real problem? Are there ever such a things as “talking white”? Will we ever go back to not being so hyper-sensitive? Will Marijuana finally be legalized throughout all 50 states and what effects will it have? Let us know your thoughts on those questions.

We also talk about Kareem Hunt and the video that surfaced that got him released by the Kansas City Chiefs. How about those Buckeyes? You know we had to talk about the beat down OSU gave that team up north (❌ichigan). Can Somali people really drive? Research found by Big Bro Ayub gives us some insight on what people think about our driving. First of many art shows, our good friend Snapshot Hamza has his first ever event on December 8th where he showcases some of his best work.
