March 2019 "A Cup Of Joel": Teach Correct Principles And Let Them Govern Themselves
29 perc 106. rész Meg Tilton
One of the key doctrines of the church is that God has not stopped speaking to man and that The Church has an open canon where revelation is on going. This means that God can change things through His appointed prophets to meet the needs of His saints in real time. Personally, it is how I know this church is true. I know God will not leave me alone in my day and age and will guide me and His prophets so that all I need to know to live the life God wants me to will be revealed to me. As far as the Church goes, only the prophet, Russel M. Nelson can receive revelation for the Church and he sure has received a lot lately. Joel and I discuss these changes today and Joel then shares why he believes so many changes are and will continue to happen. Enjoy!
Pod #82: How To Be Grateful And Still Want More
17 perc 105. rész Meg Tilton
I don't know where this thought process starts, most likely in ones childhood when the frustration of a mother who sees ungrateful children wanting more and more finally snaps and produces an epic lecture on how greedy children are and that they should just be grateful for what they have and not want more. I have to agree with that mother, and honestly I have been that mother, that all humans - especially children - need more gratitude in their lives. But where I've always gotten it wrong is that I shouldn't want for more. But what if gratitude and wanting more are actually two principles that go hand in hand? What if you are suppose to be grateful AND want more almost in the same breath? Come listen to today's podcast where I talk about how God Himself has taught us this principle through an act we do everyday. It's one I hope to implement more not only in my own life, but teach to my children as well. Enjoy!
Pod #81: Self Confidence
17 perc 104. rész Meg Tilton
You may think that self confidence is something that people are born with, but really it all comes down to how you view your situations and your ability to change your outcomes. Come listen to today's podcast where I give you the key to gaining more self confidence and how you can develop this skill if you want. You read that right, it is a skill and that is such great news because it means anyone can develop more self confidence, thus being able to create the outcomes they want in their lives - and that most definitely includes you. Enjoy!
Pod #80: The Gift Of Mistakes
14 perc 103. rész Meg Tilton
MISTAKES! We all dread them, but they are simply part of being human. Mistakes are how you learn and how you grow, but we tend to make them mean so much more than they really are. I know God is always forgiving of my mistakes, so you and I both need to make sure we are forgiving of ourselves. In fact, God created a whole plan centered around the very fact that you would make mistakes. Join me today on the podcast as I discuss some recent mistakes I've made and how I handled them so as to not make them worse than they already were. I teach you how to do the same in all the mistakes that lie in your future. Enjoy!

Kristina decided it was time to go back to school and get her degree in nursing while her kids were still young and at home. She talks about how she and her husband navigated that time, why she did it when she did, and her feelings about doing it now that she is on the other side of it. Kristina also talks about the privileges she has experienced as she has been a nurse and helped her patients not only with their medical needs but their emotional and spiritual ones as well. Kristina is real and I feel gives a great insight into going after your dreams while still juggling a family and all that life has to bring. Enjoy!

Pod #74: Buffering With Learning
17 perc 93. rész Meg Tilton
You live in a society today where you are bombarded by things that if you consume or participate in, promise to make you feel happy all of the time. As a society we have grown to think that negative and uncomfortable emotions are not the way life's supposed to be lived. But it’s all false advertising. No food, pill, or thing you can buy will ever be able to relieve you from negative emotion long term. They are all quick fixes of relief and in actuality only create more problems down the road. Today I want to talk about a bit more sly hit of dopamine we like to give ourselves and that is “buffering with learning”. We have been taught that knowledge is power. That is only partially true. Knowledge is power only when you put it into action and even when you do that, there is still going to be negative emotion with whatever you are doing. But it’s easy to get caught in the trap of your brain telling you that the reason you can’t go forward is because you don’t have enough knowledge and that lack of knowledge is what will cause you uncomfortable emotions. Come listen to two examples I talk of today about two women who are on opposite sides of the knowledge spectrum and their outcomes. You will be surprised by what you hear. Enjoy! December 2018 "Cup Of Joel": The Importance Of Different Perspectives
56 perc 90. rész Meg Tilton
Unless you've been living under a rock somewhere, you are most likely very familiar with the story surrounding the birth of our Savior. There was a virgin, shepherds, wisemen, angels and gifts. We learn what we know from the accounts of Matthew and Luke. But their versions of the birth of the Savior are very different. Come listen to what Joel has to say about the importance of both Matthew and Luke's accounts surrounding the Saviors birth and the different message each one is trying to convey. They are both important and essential to the role Christ plays in each of our lives. Enjoy!
Pod #71: How To Self-Coach
28 perc 89. rész Meg Tilton
I talk a lot about the importance of coaching, because I’m a coach. Duh! I think everyone should have a coach and get coaching on a regular basis. Having someone who can look at your brain from a non-judgmental and neutral place is so helpful in showing you the way “out of the forest” if you will, that we all tend to get ourselves caught up in. But just as important as having a coach is, it is equally important to learn how to self-coach. It’s a lot like having a personal trainer. They can only do so much for you. In order to see true and lasting results you have to be willing to put in the time and effort when you are away from them. Today on the podcast I give you three steps so that you can start self-coaching yourself and see amazing results in your life. Also, since this is Cyber Monday, November 26th, 2018 I am offering hour long coaching sessions for FREE. So if you happen to be listening to this on the 26th, go and sign-up for an hour of FREE coaching. You won’t regret it. The link is below to my online schedule. Pod #70: Thought Boundaries
29 perc 88. rész Meg Tilton
We live in a world made up of boundaries. We have boundaries when it comes to the countries we live in, how we drive in traffic, how we decide on property ownership, and so much more. Boundaries create order and safety. They also allow for a lot of freedom that wouldn’t exist if boundaries didn’t exist. But there is one area in our life that the majority of us lack in good boundary keeping skills - our thoughts. We think our thoughts just come and go and we have little control over them. On today’s podcast I give you a visual image of how to set up thought boundaries in your brain and then what you need to do to make sure you keep the good thoughts within bounds and the bad ones well outside of bounds. Also, if after listening to this episode you would like some help in obtaining better thought boundaries, make sure you click on the link below and claim one of the five free spots I am giving away this week only. You don’t have to be coached this week, you just have to get it scheduled and I’m only offering it to the first five women who sign up. Give this to yourself as an early Christmas present. While that is really a discussion for another day, I think far too many women already feel like the world doesn’t need them and that their place on earth is insignificant. Today I talk about why you are most definitely allowed to take up space and steps you can implement that will allow you to start believing that. I have no doubt in my mind surrounding the truthfulness of this concept. Enjoy!

Pod #58: The Trap Of "Not Enough"
20 perc 73. rész Meg Tilton
It's time to get real here on the podcast and dive into why I started this whole thing in the first place. I love to see other women in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints excel and become the best versions of themselves. One of the ways I think they do that is by following their God given passions outside of motherhood. My passion is to help other women follow their passions. So today, I talk about the five main reasons I know many of you are not going after your passions. The great news is that none of them are valid reasons so if you are willing to do some mind work and push old beliefs to the side, your passion is just waiting for you to take hold and go for it. I sure hope you do! Enjoy!

Structure and a schedule are good to keep us moving forward towards goals in our life. But just as important is getting off of a schedule and changing things up. Our brain is much like our pallet. We would never enjoy eating the exact same thing every day and so our brain doesn’t enjoy doing the exact same thing every day. It gets tired of the same old thing day in and day out. It needs to change things up so that it can be most efficient in the daily routine. Today I talk about the things I learned and saw happen as we unplugged from media for the summer and as we went on vacation. Spoiler alert - it did great things for my brain. Take a listen and then let me know what you think. If you feel like you are in a rut yourself, I’m a great resource to help you see how to get unrutted. Come have a listen to find out what it is and see if you agree. Enjoy!
Pod #54: Christmas In July
20 perc 68. rész Meg Tilton
Every year in July, my family delivers treats to our local friends. It's become a tradition I love because then I don't have to do a bunch of running around in December. In gearing up for this years treat delivery I started thinking about how we put so much pressure on those around us to deliver our happiness and are often very disappointed with they don't deliver exactly what we want. In todays episode I talk about how the power to deliver the most meaningful gifts you will get this Christmas lies within yourself. Come listen and find out what I'm giving me this year and how I can help you get a gift only you can give yourself. Enjoy!!
Pod #53 - Substance
16 perc 67. rész Meg Tilton
We often think of “substance” in regards to material goods, money, etc., but what would change in our lives if we started thinking of “substance” as our talents, gifts, and personality traits that each of us has been given? Would you feel like the impact you could have on the world would increase and take on deeper meaning? Today I talk about the importance of sharing our “substance” with the world and why we as LDS women need to start doing it more and more. I am a firm believer that we are past the days of living our lives as silent examples and that the Lord and the world need to hear more from us who are living the doctrines of the gospel and are God fearing women. It’s time to stop living in the shadows and come out in the open and share our God given talents with those around us. Enjoy!
Pod #52: Being Offended

It takes emotional maturity to take responsibility for our feelings and not blame others. Come have a listen today where we will discuss why we get offended and somethings to do so that we can stop. Pod #51: Autopilot
20 perc 65. rész Meg Tilton
We live in a very automated world. Everything from cleaning our clothes and dishes to making the food we put on our tables is done to create a process of greater ease and simplicity. The great news is that this frees up a lot of brain power for us so we can be more creative and contributing human beings. The downside is that other activities that do not allow us to create more and grow into our potential can take that free space if we don't manage our minds well. Come have a listen today where I discuss the importance of making sure we are not letting our brains coast in autopilot mode and that we are constantly trying to live a more manual driven life. Enjoy!
Pod #50: Committing To Your Beliefs

In coaching I talk a lot with my clients about changing their beliefs but an additional step I learned recently took all the thought work to a new level. Today I explain the tangible process of belief and what that looks like in your life and how you know that you are truly going to get the results you want in your life. It's not a new concept, in fact God has been teaching it to us for years so here's your chance to truly learn how to commit to your beliefs. Enjoy!

Pod #49: Scarcity

We live in a world that makes us think we have to have a the latest and greatest and if we don’t we are missing out. Pod #48: The Importance of Last Place
17 perc 61. rész Meg Tilton
We live in a world that rewards excellence and in many ways that's a good thing. I'm a firm believer in striving for doing your best. But we all too often get caught up in comparing our best to someone else's best and those can look very different. Today I talk about how maybe instead of focusing so much on being the best in comparison to others, we should really focus on showing up. Far too many of us don't show up in our lives and I think that's where the real tragedy and loss occur. We need to be engaged, striving, and moving forward constantly - even if that means we come in last place.
Pod #47: Failure

So take a listen and let me know what you think! Enjoy!
Pod#46:"Miracles And Tender Mercies":My 2nd Interview With Emily Hepworth Discussing Down Syndrome
68 perc 59. rész Meg Tilton
In todays podcast I interview Emily Hepworth for a second time. This time we discuss all that surrounded the birth of her son Ethan, the many miracles and tender mercies that made sure he arrived safely, the importance of following your motherly instincts, the blessings of good doctors, as well as many more things. I came away from this interview being touched by something Emily discusses. She said that at one point while Ethan was in the NICE for 88 days and she was overwhelmed and exhausted, she had a clear impression that he is not theirs but has been put in their home so that he can be a missionary to those around him. I thought that was such a beautiful revelation for Emily to receive and in some ways, I think it applies to all of our children. Each child is a gift from God and they are ultimately His. We are just blessed to have them in our families. I hope you enjoy this interview as much as I did and come away with a renewed faith that God is in the details of our lives no matter what situations we may find ourselves. Enjoy!

Pod #45: How To Stop The Mommy Wars

We hear it all over the place, the well coined phrase "Mommy Wars". It refers to the battle moms these days find themselves in with one another. Why? Why does such a thing even exist? People saying unkind things has existed since the dawn of humankind but in todays world where people can hide behind a screen and anonymity, the scale on which people are willing to tell others why they are wrong or that they don't know what they are talking about is at an all time high. Today I talk about how we can put an end to the "Mommy Wars" and the role I feel we each play in it. I can promise you the answers I give are not what you may think they should be, but I hope you come away realizing that they really do have the ability to bring peace and support back to the journey we moms are all on. Pod #36 Part 4: LDS Women Money Stories, My Interview With Myself

I felt it only fair to ask myself the same questions I asked Jessie, Whitney, and Michelle. It's interesting being on both sides of the interview. The questions were harder to answer for myself than I thought they would be but I'm glad I did it so that I can look back in a few years and see if my story has changed at all. If I have taken anything away from this experience it is that we don't talk about our relationship to money enough. It falls into the category of "taboo" subjects to discuss and really share our true feelings around. But I think discussing things with others not only helps us see others perspectives but to solidify our own beliefs. I hold the right to change my money story as I learn and progress, but for now, this is it. Enjoy!

She also had an interesting insight that has changed her perspective in regards to getting more money that has to do with the way we pray. Her research led to interviewing many children and their parents from around the world who had successfully started businesses. She and her husband, Jerry Cook, decided to compile all they learned into a book called "The Parent's Guide to Raising CEO Kids". We discuss why the book is helpful not only to parents of children wanting to start their own businesses but really anyone wanting to start a business. We also chat about how Sarah herself had to change her money stories and how that has led her to be a successful entrepreneur herself. Pod #22: A Lesson Learned From Mary, The Mother Of Jesus

I have no doubt that all of us have much doubt when it comes to our abilities as mothers. If there is a mother out there that thinks she has it all figured out, please send her my way because I’d love to know her secret. But just like anything in life, I think Heavenly Father expects us to mother in darkness so that we can rely on Him and have a large dose of faith and hope. We learn of the faith we need in this role from probably one of the most talked about mothers in all of history, Mary the mother of Jesus. When she was asked to become the mother of the Savior of the world she didn’t ask how or demand to know all the answers. She simply said yes and placed her trust in God to help her. That is what each of us is also asked to do. To simply do our best as mothers and then rely heavily on God to help us as we stumble and fail and then pick ourselves up and keep going. Warning: I cry on todays episode, but it’s who I am and I’m trying to be real and it’s because I know so many who are struggling with their children and their ability as mothers. I believe in you and I know heaven believes in you to. You are exactly the mother your children need! Enjoy!
Pod #21: True Happiness
16 perc 25. rész Meg Tilton
The Christmas season is one of anticipation, yummy food, beautiful decorations, and sweet music. There is so much to do to prepare and make sure everything is “just so” that we can often find ourselves on the afternoon of the 25th amongst all the unwrapped presents feeling like we missed the true meaning of the season – loving those we get to share it with. Join me today as I chat about what three children who only had a stick, a tire, and some mud taught me about true happiness and how that applies to this Christmas season. Also, learn how a particular childhood Christmas and the anniversary of the passing of my sister from leukemia molded me into the person I am today.
Pod #20: My Interview With Emily Hepworth About Her Son Ethan Who Has Down syndrome
53 perc 24. rész Meg Tilton
We all dream of having happy and healthy children, but sometimes life doesn’t always turn out as we had hoped and the path we thought we were headed down changes. Today I interview Emily Hepworth who is pregnant with her second son, a boy named Ethan who has Down Syndrome. I reached out to Emily because I knew that she would be honest in her feelings about finding out she was going to have a child with Down Syndrome and because I think this is a subject that will help a lot of people. Many may not find themselves with a Down Syndrome child, but we may find ourselves in situations that are different than what we planned. This is part of an at least 3 part series in interviewing Emily. I wanted to get her feelings during the big milestones of Ethan’s life. Today we talk about what it was like to find out Ethan has Down Syndrome and what her expectations, fears, and hopes for his future look like. Enjoy!
Cup Of Joel #3: Sin Vs. Weakness
28 perc 23. rész Meg Tilton
We all sin and we all have weaknesses. The mistake we make far too often is that we think that weakness is a sin. Listen to why Joel thinks this is an essential concept to grasp. His brain started pondering this subject more and more after reading an Ensign article in the April 2015 issue by Wendy Ulrich entitled "It Isn't a Sin to Be Weak". If you struggle with the fact that you have weaknesses and think they may be linked to sin, this episode is for you. And here's the link to the article mentioned above. https://www.lds.org/ensign/2015/04/it-isnt-a-sin-to-be-weak?lang=eng
