TalkFEED — Ironman Wales is one of the toughest Ironman triathlons on the circuit. Despite the tough course the weather tends to not play along either. This past weekend was no different.The racing was intense, as it always is in an Ironman, but in the end it was another South African who picked up the win. He finished 30th overall and second in his age group at the Ironman World Championships in Kona in 2013 and has now picked up his maiden win on the pro circuit following a 5th place on his pro debut at Ironman South Africa in 2014.Matt Trautman joins us on this week’s Tri Talk SA to talk about the race and the win and also to share his inspiring journey into triathlon. TalkFEED — There was an awesome announcement made last week particularly for triathletes that are based in Gauteng. Races are few and far between and decent venues for races are even scarcer.This week on Tri Talk SA we chat to Grant Kuneke from Tri Rock South Africa about the brand new race that they have added to the South African triathlon calendar, Tri Rock Cradle of Humankind.It is a half Ironman distance tri that will take place in the heart of the World Heritage Site that is the Cradle of Human Kind. TalkFEED — Wian Sullwald wins in ChengduIt was another superb weekend for South Africa’s Wian Sullwald. The 2012 ITU Junior World Champion followed up his 15th position at the inaugural World Triathlon Series event in Cape Town two weeks ago with a fantastic win at the 2014 Chengdu ITU World Cup on Saturday.We caught up with Wian, who is still in China preparing for the upcoming WTS Yokohama, following his victory. Wian spoke about the confidence he gained in that race in Cape Town despite his race unravelling with two and a half kilometres to go.Wian also spoke about how difficult he found it to make the step up from the junior level to the senior level and how 2013 was a really steep learning curve for him. Wian gives 3 fantastic tips to any youngster who may be thinking about turning professional and what they need to do to make the step up to the pro triathlon ranks.Brad asks Wian if he feels under pressure with the likes of Richard Murray and Henri Schoeman who already established on the world triathlon circuit. TalkFEED — We spent the last weekend up at Sun City for the 11 Global that took place at the resort over the weekend and what an amazing weekend it was. We have a jam packed show for you this weekend and on Tri Talk SA this week: Jaryd Browne raced his last race as a junior and we caught up with him after his win in the Sprint race on Saturday.We spoke to Wikus Weber after he was the first elite athlete home in the Sprint. Wikus went on to win the Standard distance race on Sunday too and in doing so claimed the Eleven Squared title for the fastest combined time over the weekend.Sam Harrington was the first lady home on Sunday and we chatted to her about her recent marriage as well as her great win on Sunday.Miguel Viera, the first Angolan to finish an Ironman, spoke to us about his race on Sunday and what he has planned for the upcoming season.The inspiring Frans Lotter completed the standard distance race on Sunday having just completed a course of chemotherapy following being diagnosed with cancer less than a year ago.South African hockey legend Pietie Coetzee also took part in the 11Global this weekend. TalkFEED — It has been a week and a bit since Ironman World Championships in Kona Hawaii and this week we were able to catch up with one of the top performers on the day. On episode 16 of Tri Talk SA Brad:Chats to Kyle Buckingham about his amazing 16th overall in Kona. Not only did Kyle beat most of the pro field but he was the first age grouper home and smashed the age group world record at the same time. Kyle spoke to Brad about being coached by Raynard Tissink, as well as what his race schedule will look like in 2014, now that he is turning pro.Caught up with Morne Botha about this past weekend’s Slanghoek Triathlon in the Western Cape.  Morne has come full circle in the last year having ruptured his achilles tendon the day after last year’s race. Having to undergo surgery and an extensive rehab programme, Morne has worked his way back into the sport by practically starting from scratch. From a South African perspective it was probably the most successful race we have had as a nation.
