Finding Your GOAL WEIGHT
36 perc 100. rész

At the time of this recording, I have had almost 45,000 people come through my program. And finding your correct goal weight is such a huge question! Who should you listen to? How do you calculate it correctly? Who do you believe? It's all so confusing, and no wonder people are frustrated!

There's just too much conflicting information available online about how to calculate your ideal goal weight. And the thing is, many people don't know who to believe. Your doctor might be saying one thing, your insurance company says something different, and your BMI still gives you different goal weight.

At Code Red, we have a proprietary formula we use to calculate the ideal goal weight for custom programs. And having written close to 45k of them to date, we pretty much hit the mark all the time.

However, you don't have to have a custom program to determine your ideal goal weight. Your body intuitively knows your ideal weight. You just need to remember when you felt confident, felt great about your body, your clothes fitted well, had tons of energy, didn't have body aches. If you are honest with yourself, that is your ideal weight.

Click play to learn more about how to determine your ideal goal weight and how to get there and maintain your weight at that goal.

Can You Cheat On CODE RED?
43 perc 100. rész

I wish I had a dollar for every time someone asked me this. Can you cheat on Code Red? Because all the other weight loss programs let you cheat! So what's the big deal, right? Well, the reasons might shock you!

Even though all other programs allow cheat meals or cheat foods, Code Red doesn't do this. We don't believe in cheat meals because it is not worth it. People never make any progress with this type of mindset and behavior.

The stakes are too high to have a cheat meal or, God forbid, a cheat day. We are dealing with people who are metabolically sick, people with type 2 diabetes, people who have failed on all other weight loss programs, or are just on the verge of a life-altering disease. This is about our health, we can't afford to not be serious about it by having cheat foods and cheat meals attitude.

The major problem with cheat foods and the weight loss programs that have them is that they don't address the sugar addiction crisis that we have as a people. The heart of the problem with weight is sugar addiction, and having cheat foods doesn't help at all. That's why we don't do it at Code Red.

Click Play and hear the reasons we don't do cheat meals at Code Red and how to get back on track if you have already cheated.

Key Takeaways

  • Why cheat meals is making one step forwards and two steps backward (00:00)
  • The stakes are too high to have a mindset of cheat meals (13:26)
  • The No. 1 problem with cheat foods (15:28)
  • The power of sugar addiction (17:40)
  • The last meal Phenomenon: What you eat sets you up for the day (19:11)
  • It's not about the food; it's the behavior and mindset towards it (23:48)
  • You can lose weight and not cheat (31:22)
  • Cheating is never worth it (36:54)

How To Become More Insulin Sensitive
42 perc 100. rész

Even if you're not diabetic or pre-diabetic, we all need to understand insulin and the role it plays in our body. Here are some very simple, natural things you can do to help your body in this area.

Being insulin sensitive means that you need just a tiny amount of this very important hormone for it to do its job. It's crucial that we all strive to be more insulin sensitive, whether diabetic, pre-diabetic, or not. And if you think that today's topic doesn't apply to you, think again. Two-thirds of Americans, that's about 200 million, are pre-diabetic.

At Code Red, we believe in eating like we are all diabetic. We shouldn't wait till our fasting blood glucose and our A1C is too high to look at what we are eating. We believe that everybody should be working towards becoming more insulin sensitive.

Two of the five markers of metabolic health are related to our insulin levels. This explains how important this hormone is to our overall health and why we should be paying extra attention to it.

Listen in to today's podcast to get some key takeaways on some of the simple yet effective things you should be doing to increase your insulin sensitivity.

Key Takeaways

  • Why everybody should be working towards being more insulin sensitive (02:30)
  • The vital role insulin plays in our body (07:03)
  • Why movement is so important to becoming insulin sensitive (15:14)
  • Eating less often and no snacking to allow our bodies to rejuvenate (20:40)
  • How cinnamon and ginger help increase insulin sensitivity (27:28)
  • Why you should add soluble fiber such as chia seeds and flax to help your body (28:57)
  • How Code Red will make you more insulin sensitive (32:21)
  • Nailing the basics (34:54)

Hitting Hard Ground Vs. Hitting CONCRETE!
30 perc 100. rész

Hitting the hard ground hurts. You're gonna be bruised, broken, and busted up. But hitting concrete is a career-ender, a deal-breaker, and you'll probably die. So many people think that the mistakes they make are career-enders (like hitting concrete). But I encourage you to reconsider; get up, dust yourself off and go again instead of giving up.

What has happened to you is not a deal-breaker, it’s all the way you choose to look at it. So many people think they've hit concrete if they gain their weight back. They think they will never come back from it. There's nothing in weight loss or in Code Red that is a deal-breaker.

It might be embarrassing, but spending the rest of your life overweight just because you are embarrassed doesn't make any sense. You can come back from it if you just took the next small step forward. Whatever happened is in the past. All you need to is identify what went wrong, learn from your mistakes, and move forward in a different direction.

Is there anything in your life you think you can't come back from? Have you gained back all the weight you lost and are now stuck? Tune in to this episode to learn how to get up, dust yourself, and take the next small step forward.

Key Takeaways

  • Difference between hitting hard ground and hitting concrete (03:35)
  • Learning from our mistakes and moving forward  in a different direction (18:25)
  • It's all in the way you choose to look at it (19:38)
  • Gaining your weight back is not a deal-breaker (20:12)
  • How to identify where you went wrong so that you don't make the same mistake again (23:28)
  • There's no amount of weight that you could gain that is a deal-breaker (25:35)
  • All you need to do is take the next small step forward (28:18)

The Species-Specific Diet
39 perc 100. rész

Humans are the only species on the earth that don't eat a species-specific diet. We have been eating the proper human diet for 5-6 million years until recently. But now we eat processed food from factories. Hear my experience of transitioning my dog to a species-specific diet and how that made me really consider how the "American standard diet" is killing us.

Here at Code Red, we believe the human species was designed to eat an animal-based diet. That's why you hear me talk of the proper human diet all the time. We were not meant to eat all these processed foods that make up the American diet. It makes so much sense to stick as much as possible to what our ancestors ate.

If you are trying to lose weight, you'll get much better results faster by eating what our species was meant to eat. Even better results than working out. Remember the last episode we talked about fat athletes. It doesn't matter how much you work out; if your diet is crap, you will be unhealthy.

Click Play to learn what the proper human diet is and the benefits of sticking to a species-specific diet including keeping the five metabolic health markers in a good range.

Key Takeaways

  • Changing your diet can give much better results than working out (12:30)
  • Why the Code Red Program is a hybrid of many programs (13:45)
  • We are the only species that eat a diet that is not species-specific (17:13)
  • Our species was designed to eat an animal-based diet (18:08)
  • How my dog made it clear to me that humans too should have a species-specific diet (18:50)
  • Why it makes so much sense to stick to what our ancestors ate (27:16)
  • The five metabolic health markers (34:17)

Is It Okay To Be FAT If You're FIT?
29 perc 100. rész

Are you throwing up a 195 overhead jerk but asking for the seatbelt extender on the plane? I've been saying this for years, but finally, a new study was released to back me up on if it is okay to be fat as long as you're fit.

One cannot be fat but healthy. This is according to new research by the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology. The negative effects of excess body fat on heart health cannot be mitigated by leading an active lifestyle.

The idea that people who are fat and fit are healthy is simply a myth that has been busted by this new study. We have known this at Code Red all along, and I have said numerous times that exercise doesn't have anything to do with fat loss. Exercise has a ton of benefits, but weight loss isn't one of them.

The number one biggest lie in weight loss is that you can exercise your weight off. It doesn't matter how much you bench press, run, or ride a bike. It doesn't matter how fit you are; if you are overweight, you need to lose that fat. And the answer lies in real food, water, and sleep.

Are you in any doubt whether Fat but Fit is healthy? Tune in to this episode to learn why this is a myth and how we can help you lose that weight at Code Red.

Key Takeaways

  • How the Code Red Lifestyle was born because I was a fat athlete (01:38)
  • Fat but fit is a myth when it comes to heart health (09:11)
  • Food is the answer to losing weight (11:11)
  • The No 1 biggest lie in weight loss (14:27)
  • The problem of being overweight even if you are fit (18:48)
  • The 5 metabolic markers of good health (19:43)
  • Exercise is not where it's at when it comes to weight loss (22:56)

Why Do People Gain Back Their Weight?
40 perc 99. rész

I don't want to talk about this. But it's the elephant in the room. So why do people gain back their weight after leaving the Code Red community? Let's have a heart to heart and learn where they went wrong and how you can prevent this from happening to you.

Today we are talking about what many people in the weight loss industry avoid talking about. It is clear to everybody that people gain back their weight after leaving the program that helped them lose weight. Code Red is no different; most of our certified coaches and leaders have unfortunately regained some weight or all of it after they left the community.

Does this indicate a failure of the Code Red program? Absolutely not; as much as it's baffling why people would go through the weight loss process only to regain back their weight, we have found the reasons why this happens.

In this episode, we share these reasons so that we can prepare you not to repeat them. We want to set you up for success when you get to maintenance. We want to teach you how to live life after weight loss without gaining any of it back.

Listen in as I take you through all the reasons why people gain back their weight and how you can avoid this happening to you.

Key Takeaways

  • The elephant in the room (04:00)
  • Why certified coaches and leaders gain back weight after they leave Code Red (07:11)
  • If you ignore the rules, you gain back your weight (16:13)
  • What we teach Code Red rebels at maintenance (18:36)
  • The three things that are common to rebels who gain back their weight (20:28)
  • How to use the scale as your fist line of defense (23:27)
  • A lot of things could be avoided if you stay properly hydrated (28:47)
  • How letting sugar in your house opens the floodgates to other things (30:03)

Parking At The POINT Of Your PAIN
27 perc 96. rész

At what point does your past STOP defining you? If you park at the point of your pain and never move past it, you'll never show up for your true self and help others.

When you park at the point of our pain and don't get past it, you hinder the light inside you from showing. You don't show up and end up robbing yourself and your loved ones of your light, your joy, and all the good that you bring to the world.

The world needs you to show up, but you can't show up while you are parking at the point of your pain. No matter what happened to you, and we are cognizant of the fact that many traumatic things happen to people who never asked for them or ever deserved them, but we can't allow them to define us.

Cari and I have had bad things happen to us, but we didn't park there. We didn't allow these experiences to define us. Remember, nobody can steal your joy. Don't let what happened to you be an excuse for not reaching your goals.

Are you struggling to let go of the past and are still parking at the point of your pain? Click Play to learn how to get past your pain and how the Code Red team can help you in your journey.

Setting The TONE Of Your HOME
37 perc 95. rész

People say, "If mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy." But that is the reality. So ladies, how do you set the tone of your home? Guest mother and grandmother Carole Terherst (and yes, my mom) gives sound advice and a little tough love to wives & mothers from all walks of life.

As a mother, you are responsible for setting the tone of your home. However, this doesn't give you a free pass to make everyone's life miserable because you let your frustrations get the better of you. This is not to say it will always be easy, but you can make an effort to control it.

With only 7% of communication being verbal, there's so much energy that a mom can put out to her household, even without saying anything. You don't have to yell for your children to obey you. You have the magic wand to control the mood, temperature, and status of your home.

As you'll be hearing my mom explain, parenting is mostly about setting rules and boundaries. You are the mom and the ultimate decision-maker. You are going to establish the non-negotiables, or you'll have a bigger mess to take care of later.

Why Are You Waiting???
26 perc 94. rész

People always say, "I'll start Monday" or "I'll start after my son's wedding..." and I just can't wrap my head around why someone would be sick longer than they have to. How much longer do you want to live in this misery. Be willing to start NOW.

There's always going to be something else coming up. If you are serious about taking your life back, you will start today. You won't wait for the perfect timing because it will never come. You'll only find excuses every time.

Based on our experiences in Code Red, waiting just postpones the inevitable. And we can only question your motivation and commitment if you are waiting.

Rather than wait, you are better off learning how to work around whatever is coming up because there will always be a birthday party, a wedding, an anniversary, etc. When you wait until after the upcoming one to start, you are going to wait for the next. The months and years will roll by, and you'll still be fat and sick.

There's no switch that you will flip to magically lose weight. You have to commit to starting now. Tune in this episode to learn how Code Red can help you lose weight and feel better.

Key Takeaways

  • You are not going to automatically lose weight; you have to commit to start today (04:26)
  • We question your motivation and commitment if you are waiting (06:12)
  • Why you need to rethink what you find enjoyable (06:49)
  • If you are serious about taking your life back, start today (11:22)
  • How much more weight do you want to put on before its time (16:43)
  • Don't put off the inevitable, don't wait anymore (23:59)

I Can't With The Word CAN'T!
31 perc 93. rész

This is a word that needs to be eradicated from your vocabulary. Never say, "I can't..." whether it be "I can't afford" or "I can't find the time" or "I can't find the energy..." it's all bullcrap. You can, but you choose not to. Change your mindset around that contraction, "I CAN'T." Because it's creating a LACK mentality.

When we say we can't, we take away our own power and ability. It is a defeatist mentality that disempowers us, and nothing good can come from it. Don't take away your power with this way of thinking. You have the ability to make it work!

You will never achieve something great if you keep using 'I can't.' These words and the mentality permeates your whole life. We hear it all the time with our custom programs. People will say they can't afford it, yet they go ahead spend their money on fast food and other crap.

It all comes down to what you consider important. If you want it badly enough, you'll find the money, the time, and the energy to do it. And this applies to almost everything in life. It's all about the sacrifices you are willing to make to get to it.

Click Play on this episode and hear Cristy ad Cari encourage you to eradicate 'I Cant' from your vocabulary and teach you what to say instead to empower yourself!

Key Takeaways

  • Fighting the lack mentality ingrained in us growing up (04:48)
  • It's all about what you value (10:03)
  • It's all about the sacrifices you are willing to make to get it (16:13)
  • You have the ability to make it work (18:25)
  • If it is important enough for you, you'll find a way to do it (24:10)
  • Why saying you can't take away your power (29:39)

Being Faithful With LITTLE
32 perc 92. rész

So many people dream of big things: Running a big company! Having millions of dollars! Owning a Lamborghini! And I'm all for having big dreams (I have them myself), But you won't even take care of the beat up car you own now. You won't even treat your 2 employees with respect, so how are you supposed to have 100 employees? If you aren't faithful with little, why should you be trusted with MUCH?

The bible in the book of Luke says He who is faithful in the little will also be faithful in much. Those people that can take care of the little they have, end up getting more and more because they have proven they can handle it.

It may not seem like much, but the small stuff really matters. Things like making your bed in the morning, being clean and organized, treating everybody with kindness. We should be responsible in the small things and teach our children to be as well.

It all starts with the little; nobody just jumps in and becomes famous and a big celebrity. You must be faithful with the little you have and grow. The little things lead to bigger things. If you don't prove yourself with these little things, there's no way you'll be able to handle the bigger things.

Tune in to this episode to learn more about being faithful, responsible, and trustworthy with whatever little you have. Being faithful in the little will prove that you will be faithful with much!

Key Takeaways

  • He who is faithful in the little will also be faithful in much (06:22)
  • A trip down memory lane remembering being around horses (06:34)
  • How a longtime family friend reinforced the need to take good care of things (13:44)

  • Proving yourself with a small amount of responsibility before you ask for more (27:02)

At the risk of falling out of compliance with weight standards and losing his career, he joined Code Red and found extraordinary success.

Just imagine being 55 years old and in a career where the life expectancy is 57, being way overweight at 300 pounds, and coming from a family with a history of blood pressure and heart disease? That's the story of Mark Peterson, one of our long-standing men of Code Red. You better tune in and listen to his hugely inspiring story.

You'll be excited to hear our next story from Mark, a young man. After trying out many different options, he got to Code Red through a family friend. He listened to the Code Red Audiobook and followed the rules, which led to 60 pounds melting off in 6 months.

Goals Don't STOP On The Weekends!
22 perc 88. rész

You wonder why you can't lose weight when you're eating clean Monday through Friday and then going OFF THE RAILS on Saturday and Sunday! That's not how this works. Goals don't stop on the weekends. If you're serious about your weight loss and health, you commit to a healthy lifestyle ALL 7 DAYS OF THE WEEK.

Often a time, we see people commit halfway to a healthy lifestyle. For some days, they are committed to eating real food, water, and sleep and exercising but fall off the rails during the weekend or during a vacation, or during some other time.

That's now how living a healthy lifestyle works; you need to remain fully committed all the time. Your health goals don't change based on how you feel. Lifestyle diseases don't take a break during the weekends. People try to justify this by saying it's just a cheat meal once in a while or during the weekend.

The problem with this mentality is that once you get used to it, it becomes easier and easier to keep cheating on your health plan. This mentality compounds itself, and eventually, you are completely off the track.

You have to get past the mentality of earning the right to cheat if you are to remain healthy. You'll always be finding an excuse to have something that you know you shouldn't. Weekends, anniversaries, birthdays, weddings, etc. are not excuses to go off your health plan.

Listen in to this episode as Cristy and Cari explain why you need to be fully committed to a healthy lifestyle no matter the day of the week.

Key Takeaways

  • Goals don't stop just because it's the weekend (03:02)
  • Staying on track even during your vacation (05:26)
  • The big problem with having cheat meals (06:12)
  • Getting past the mentality of earning the right to cheat (11:11)
  • You don't cease to be on a health journey because of an event (12:11)
  • How you feel right now doesn't change your health goal (16:08)
  • No more games guys, it's time to put your health first (19:59)

Stop Apologizing!
31 perc 87. rész

People apologize for the wrong reasons! They apologize for how they're parenting, how messy their house is, and they apologize for their weight loss. They're acting SORRY that they're on a health journey, and it doesn't fit into the social norm. So they feel like they're putting others out, which is NOT TRUE!

Chronic apologizing, even for things that you shouldn't be apologizing about, indicate a lack of confidence or insecurity. It is a bad habit that we all should eliminate from our lives. As we talked about in an earlier episode, you should be okay with being in uncomfortable situations without the need to apologize.

The problem with being a chronic apologizer is that your credibility goes down. People never believe you, even when you are genuinely sorry. They are used to you apologizing for stuff that doesn't even matter. This need to apologize comes from the need to justify everything we do.

Certainly, you shouldn't be apologizing for your weight loss journey. You won't believe it, but we see so many people apologizing for their weight loss. They apologize for making healthier choices and putting themselves first. Be confident in yourself, and do YOU!

Click play on this episode to learn more about how to be more confident in life and go about your business without the need to constantly apologize.

Key Takeaways

  • Why chronic apologizing indicates a lack of confidence (07:37)
  • Being okay with uncomfortable situations without apologizing (08:29)
  • How to say NO in a firm but respectful way (11:27)
  • When you are a chronic apologizer, your credibility goes down (12:08)
  • Don't feel the need to justify anything (13:12)
  • Never apologize for your weight loss journey and making better choices (16:31)
  • Be confident in yourself, and don't devalue yourself by constantly apologizing (25:51)
  • Don't feel the need to fill the silence with an apology (27:47)

Blame Vs. Accountability - It's Much Easier To BLAME Than Take Responsibility
25 perc 86. rész

It's so much easier to blame your family, your job, COVID, your kids, etc... for you getting off track and NOT taking care of yourself. It's time to stop blaming and start taking responsibility for your own actions.

Do you know why it's easier to give excuses than take responsibility for your circumstances? Yeah, taking responsibility is hard, and many people are unable to do it. However, if you need to succeed in anything, you have to do it. You simply have to take responsibility without the need to give bullcrap excuses.

If you want to be great at something and reach the top, you have to learn to take responsibility for everything that happens. Own up the problem, look for solutions, and fix it, then make sure that it never happens again. That is the formula for greatness.

If you are placing blame on everything other than you, then you got to step back, take a hard look in the mirror and realize that ultimately, the buck stops with you.

The bottom line is that it's nobody else's fault but you. You have to take responsibility for the circumstance you are in, no matter what happened. You cannot blame other factors for regaining weight that you had lost. It's your fault, period.

Key Takeaways

  • Giving reasons for your circumstances is no better than giving excuses (02:05)
  • Its nobody's else's fault but you (04:20)
  • Great people always take responsibility (09:04)
  • Nobody puts anything in your mouth but you (11:56)
  • Always ask yourself what you can do when faced with a challenge (15:29)
  • Ultimately, the buck stops with you (18:42)
  • You prioritize your health, or you don't (21:41)
  • It hurts so bad to take responsibly, but you have to do it (22:03)
  • Own it, then do something about it (23:00)

Don't Let Your AGE Dictate How Your Life Will Go
25 perc 85. rész

So many times, we hear people limit themselves in their weight loss or going back to college or competing in a sport, etc. because they think they're too "old." I've never seen someone NOT hit goal weight because of their age. So why are you letting your age hold you back from ANYTHING?

In many areas of our lives, age is not a determining factor in whether we can SUCCEED at something or not, and is definitely not the case when it comes to weight loss. In the thousands of Code Red programs we have written, we have never seen someone who couldn't hit their goal weight because of their age.

Most people use age as an excuse to not do something that they know they should be doing. Don't be one of those people who lead an excuse driven life around age, always using excuses not to move forward in your life. Being young doesn't give you an excuse to do what you want, and being middle-aged doesn't give you an excuse not to do what you should be doing.

If there's something you've always wanted to do, your age should not limit you. It may be going back to college, taking a trip, starting something new, starting your weight loss journey, etc., just do it. If you do a cost-benefit analysis and find something is right for you, don't be scared, just go for it.

Tune in to this episode and learn more about taking your life back no matter your age and what you have done or not done in your life.

Key Takeaways

  • Age is not the determining factor whether we can succeed at something (04:30)
  • We have never seen somebody not able to hit their goal weight because of their age (06:31)
  • Being young doesn't give you an excuse to do what you want (10:02)
  • Being middle-aged doesn't give you an excuse not do what you should be doing (10:02)
  • Don't be scared to do something just because of your age (17:10)
  • You can take your life back no matter what age you are (18:23)

Instagram Q & A - October 2020
34 perc 84. rész

It's always fun to get questions directly from the listeners! So thank you for submitting your questions from chopping wood to pregnancy to choosing goal weight to our favorite sister moment!

Every once in a while, we do an Instagram Q&A, and we always get some great questions that we are happy to answer. To start us off, we have a few questions about our custom program.

The question is, how do you decide on someone’s goal weight? We have a proprietary formula that we use to determine your goal weight based on 25 years of experience and tens of thousands of people who have come through the program.

Another question we get asked a lot is about pregnancy and Code Red. Should someone who is pregnant be in the lifestyle? We believe that everybody should be eating real food, water, and sleep.

We don't want pregnant women to lose weight, but they can benefit a lot and give their baby a good start by eating real food, water, and sleep. However, we are not giving medical advice; we recommend you talk with your doctor about what's best for you.

Tune in to this episode and hear us answer some more amazing questions from our Q&A.

Key Takeaways

  • How we come up with a goal weight for you in a custom program using a proprietary formula (02:56)
  • Cristy's eerie ability to be right on goal weight (07:14)

How Do You Find Stability In An Unstable World?
24 perc 83. rész

We seem to be living in quite unstable times with what’s happening all over. We have the pandemic, the riots, the markets, politics, and everything in between. But this is not a one-off situation, there seems to always be some instability at any one time. The key is to learn how to find stability in an unstable world, that’s why I’m sharing my 3 step process for finding stability in an unstable world.

My first tip is figuring out what you can control. This may sound simple, but you have way more control than you think. Many of us go about life just giving in so easily in an attempt to please everybody. We end up doing what everybody wants without sticking for ourselves. Remember, stick up for yourself because no one else will.

The second tip to finding stability in an unstable world is finding what you can be thankful for. Gratitude goes a long way in helping us find stability. There’s so much to be thankful for, we can easily get so hung up on small problems that don’t actually matter. Find gratitude in things rather than always complaining about things.

My third tip is finding how you can help other people; how can you serve. There are many ways you can serve other people, and they don’t necessarily involve spending money. There are so many kind people in this world who help others, and you too can be one of them. And don’t help people to get attention to yourself, help people for the right reasons.

You’ll find so much peace if you try my three tips for finding stability. Tune in to this episode to hear more on how to apply these tips to your life.

Key Takeaways

  • Learning to live in an unstable world (05:37)
  • Concentrate on things that you can control (06:38)
  • Always stick up for yourself (07:04)
  • Find what you can be thankful for (10:05)
  • Make a list of things that can be grateful for (12:57)
  • How can you serve others (13:57)

Find Your Tribe
25 perc 82. rész

This week, we are having a staff retreat. Hear what we have learned and noticed being around like-minded people. We had no idea how powerful this has been.

Being around people that lift you up and make you better than you are is very important if you are trying to achieve something. It gets so much easier to reach and maintain your goals when you are around such uplifting people who have the same goals as you. You feel their energy, which then inspires you to get better. It’s almost like a church camp experience.

During our staff retreat, besides having a good time, we learned a lot from each other and how the Code Red way of living and lifestyle has an impact on people’s lives. Surrounding yourself with your tribe gives you the strength to conquer your fears.

Some other observations we made from being around our tribe is the positive outlook everybody in the tribe has and the kindness. We are nonjudgmental because we have all been there; we struggled with weight but took our lives back.

Now, you may be thinking that you don’t have a tribe of like-minded people around you. Cristy and Cari advise that you may have to put in the effort to connect with a tribe. Maybe you need to arrange something or make plans, and people join you. You have to make an effort to find these people and connect with them.

Key Takeaways

  • Why you should surround yourself with people with similar goals (01:57)
  • Having a relaxing, calm time at the staff retreat (06:40)
  • How our amazing zip-lining experience went down (07:46)
  • How the Code Red lifestyle impacts people’s lives and empowers them (09:09)
  • Surrounding yourself with your tribe gives you strength (10:33)
  • Code Red rebels learn to carry their own stuff (11:32)
  • It’s so much easier to maintain your goals when you surround yourself with people with similar goals (12:40)
  • How to find your tribe (17:39)

Turning Your MESS Into Your MESSAGE
29 perc 81. rész

Don't waste a crisis! Take the crappy parts of your life and turn them into a message to help others.

As the saying goes, a smart person learns from his mistakes, but a wise person learns from the mistakes of others. Taking your mess and turning it into a message for other people to learn from and avoid their own mess is a great service to humanity.

Listen to Cristy's incredible story as she takes us through her life and how she turned around her mess into her message. Before she was 40, she acknowledges she didn't do much with her life and didn't contribute much to society. She had a few high moments, but she didn't contribute to changing people's lives. All this changed when she launched Code Red, where she has transformed regular people's lives in a big way.

Cristy says whatever mess she went through in the past is what made her and the Code Red Lifestyle into what it is now. Code Red wouldn't have come about if all those messes hadn't happened to her.

Cristy's story inspires everyone out there that you can turn around your mess into a powerful message. It doesn't matter what you are going through right now or have gone through in the past. You can turn it all around and be an inspiration to other people.

Every person has a message they can share with society, everybody can contribute positively. Don't be sad about your messes, package them into your message, and change people's lives.

Key Takeaways

  • Cristy's mess earlier in her life and how she turned it into her message (03:02)
  • Whatever you went through in the past made you who you are now (12:52)
  • Being more compassionate about people going through struggles of life (14:49)
  • How Cristy's mess had molded her and the Code Red Lifestyle (16:23)
  • Taking your mess and turning it into your message for other people to learn from (18:27)
  • Don't underestimate the power of your story (24:15)

BONUS EPISODE: Cristy And Billy Together In Studio
28 perc 80. rész

GNC owner and Chippendale dancer Billy Jeffery has been in the health & fitness industry for over 20 years (Cristy says Billy is her "spirit animal"). After watching fellow Idahoans suffer greatly from the lockdown in 2020, they team up to help listeners get past this slump and get healthy.

Cristy and Billy advise people that they can change their lives and start getting healthier by just nailing the basics. It is better to do something, however small than nothing at all. At the end of the day, it's you vs. you. You are fighting to be a better version of yourself every day by your choices.

We would rather see you pick one thing and nail it every day consistently than overcomplicate it and fail to do anything. Put in the work every day, and you'll see your life change. Just focus on the next thing you need to do to get closer to your goals.

During these times we are living in, with the pandemic and all the stress and uncertainties, it becomes even more important to make healthier choices. Billy suggests that this is the best time to focus on your health at home.

Tune in to this episode to learn more from Cristy and Billy on how you can get started by making better choices, nailing the basics, and finding the motivation to get healthier.

Key Takeaways

  • Something is better than nothing at all (05:42)
  • The bottom line is that it is you vs. you (06:54)

Success Stories w/ Dan, Brittany, Yvonne & Debbie
44 perc 79. rész

Week after week, you all hear me talk about the life-changing benefits of proper nutrition, hydration, and sleep. But I don't want you to just take my word for it! Hear these incredible testimonies from these four REBELS on the brink - a lifetime of obesity, sickness, pain, and suffering only to be reversed with Code Red.

Dan, Debbie, Yvonne, and Brittany have had tremendous health healing and success living the Code Red lifestyle. I want to take a moment and highlight and mention that while weight loss was something each of them experienced, it was far down on the list of the benefits they experienced from taking their lives back.

At 56 years old, Dan, a Navy veteran, a husband, a father, and was dealing with serious prostate problems, and his weight was ballooning even on his strict vegan diet.

Debbie was humiliated on a plane. She was 305 pounds, trying to fit into an airplane seat and couldn't get the seat belt to buckle. And that was her start to losing 155 pounds on Code Red.

Yvonne lost her brother to obesity and was heading down that same path she lost her brother on. And Brittany, a nurse practitioner who went to nurse practitioner school because she wanted to learn how to heal herself because traditional medical doctors were not giving her the answer. She knew something was right. And she wanted to do something about it.

These stories are heart-wrenching, and I know there are so many of you out there who can relate. I want this to be an opportunity for you to be genuinely inspired to say enough is enough so you can start living the life you deserve.

Key Takeaways

  • Debbie’s humiliation when she couldn’t fit on an airplane seat (05:02)
  • How Debbie took her life back with Cristy Code Red (08:55)
  • Brittany finding passion in metabolic medicine (14:09)
  • Finally reaching her goal weight through the custom program (19:16)
  • Dan begins to question his vegan lifestyle (24:26)
  • He begins to have health issues as a result of his unhealthy diet (30:00)
  • Yvonne loses her brother to obesity (35:50)
  • She was dealing with severe pain and health complications due to her own weight issues (40:02)

It's A Choice, Not A Feeling
33 perc 75. rész

In every area of our lives, we get those warm, fuzzy feelings about certain commitments. But when those feelings go away, it will take daily choice in order to stay on course.

Committing to the Code Red lifestyle and any other important aspect of life is a choice and not a feeling. You have to make a choice and recommit to it daily.  When your motivation is based on some hype or excitement or on feelings, you’ll struggle when things get hard.

What keeps you going when the journey gets hard? it has to be something deeper than the hype or the feelings. You have to find that intrinsic motivation within you.

If you are to stay on track, you have to make a daily choice rather than rely on those fuzzy feelings. These feelings will surely go away. It is more about choices than feelings. Then you have to surround yourself with people you are on the same path with. These two are stable foundations for getting where you want.

These choices we are talking about apply to every area of your life, not just in weight loss. Your marriage, relationships, parenting, etc. You have to recommit every day to the areas of life we want to do well.

Key Takeaways

  • When your motivation is rooted in hype and excitement, you’ll struggle when things get hard (02:31)
  • What keeps you going? (09:41)
  • Finding intrinsic motivation for your weight loss journey (11:06)
  • Nobody can want it for you more than you want it for yourself (18:30)
  • Seeing the reward down the road instead of the reward right in front of you (21:04)
  • What's keeping you on track? It has to be something so far beyond those fuzzy feelings (23:33)
  • Why you need to surround yourself with like-minded people to stay on track (27:26)
  • You cant rely on feelings, you have to make a choice every day (29:26)

Are You Never Satisfied?
32 perc 74. rész

In this episode, I want to open up the discussion about being content without compromising your goals. Too many times, we are so obsessed with something that we don’t get to enjoy the journey. It may be our weight loss journey, our body goals, our finances, our marriage, or even a business. We have specific numbers in our head which we are always striving to get to. It never seems enough.

If you are never content about where you are, and always striving for more, it can be a dangerous line to walk. It’s not wrong to always strive, but it’s not good to never be happy with what you have. It is okay if we have ups and downs, but it is a problem if you are never satisfied.

Having a little bit of flex room with our goals and standards is one way we can ensure we don’t remain always dissatisfied. Try to stay balanced with your life and look at the bright side of things.

Let’s try to enjoy what we’ve got and our journey without compromising our goals. What matters is that you are making some progress even if it is little progress.

Key Takeaways

  • Learning to be content with what you have even as you strive for more (11:08)
  • Being happy with yourself and loving your body in your weight loss journey (13:06)
  • At what point does it become a problem if you are never satisfied with your life (14:47)
  • Knowing the point where you maintain good health, good weight and be happy with yourself (18:42)
  • Having a little bit of wiggle room with our standards (21:39)
  • Looking at the bright side of things and staying balanced (25:31)
  • Don’t get so hung up with the one thing you wish you could change (27:09)
  • You can be content with your progress while still mobbing forward with your goals (28:03)

Nailing The BASICS
37 perc 73. rész

People over-complicate the CodeRedLifestyle and are always looking for the magic pill, the tricks, the workaround but you absolutely MUST nail the BASICS before taking it to the next level.

If you are not nailing the basics, nothing else you do will work. Drinking water, sleeping, and the food list we give you are the basics. There is no magic out there that will work if you are not getting these basics right. The Code Red Lifestyle rules are pretty simple. Drink your water, sleep, and eat from the food list.

Once you have mastered the basics, you can try out other things, but first, nail the basics down. If you ever find yourself off the track with the lifestyle or any other thing in life, just go back to the basics. There is no magic pill to make the body work. For instance, if you are not sleeping, your body holds on to fat as a way to protect you.

Some people tend to think that are too good for the basics, that the basics are for beginners. This is not true. Basics are so important. They are our foundational beliefs here at Code Red. There is no supplement in the world that is stronger than a good night’s sleep, drinking your water and your food. Don’t overcomplicate it, NAIL down the BASICS.

Key Takeaways

  • Don't biohack, let's just stick with real food, water, and sleep (05:52)
  • There is no magic pill to make the body work, it’s all in the basics (08:58)
  • Having a daily recommitment to the basics to avoid going off track (11:13)
  • There is no supplement out there that is as powerful as going to bed on time and drinking your water (19:14)
  • Going through our monthly challenge to master the basics before going to the custom program (21:15)
  • If you're not putting the work, it doesn't matter what you are doing (22:46)
  • If you fall off the track, don’t get overwhelmed, just go back to the basics (26:02)
  • Getting back to the basics applies to other areas of your life including your marriage, kids, finances (31:07)

Addressing Criticism Of The Code Red Lifestyle
34 perc 72. rész

Never waste a crisis. So here I am addressing criticism of the code Red Lifestyle, The Code Red Revolution, and me. I'm taking on your critical comments.

In this episode, I respond to the most frequent criticisms of the code red lifestyle and the code red revolution book. I normally go through all the reviews to look out for any constructive criticism that can help improve the programs and improve the customer experience here at Code Red. However, there are some negative responses that aren’t constructive and are best ignored.

The first criticism that I address is that some people claim I tell people not to exercise. This is not true. What I tell people is that you cannot exercise off your weight problem. You can exercise for many reasons but exercising to lose weight is not one of them. Nutrition is the way to address a weight problem.

The second most frequent criticism is that the Code Red revolution book is full of success stories. This is true here are a bunch of success stories in there. These are meant to show real people in real-life situations who overcame their weight problems. This is a powerful way of motivating people and showing them that it can be done. People like you did it and you can do it as well.

Another criticism that I get frequently is that the book doesn’t come with an actual plan. This is not the case. In chapter 12 of the book, on page 143, I talk about the rules of Code Red and the actual plan to the Code Red Lifestyle. I talk about this for 20 pages and give advice on what foods to eat and which foods to avoid. I teach you how to think critically and eat the proper human diet without spoon-feeding you.

Listen in to this episode and hear how I address these and other common criticisms of the Code Red Lifestyle and how I’m open to honest conversations that can improve the Code Red Lifestyle.

Key Takeaways

  • Debating and disagreeing respectfully like adults (05:17)
  • Responding to the criticism that Cristy tells people not to exercise  (07:06)
  • Why the Code Red revolution book is full of success stories (12:13)
  • Where to find the actual plan and rules of Code Red in the book (15:18)
  • How to think critically about food and eating the proper human diet (17:45)
  • How the book gives you all the information you need to lose weight (20:46)
  • Why the Code Red Lifestyle is different from keto (24:46)
  • Code Red is all about playing the long game and healing (28:18)
  • The best way to get started with Code Red Lifestyle (29:51)

Being Present In The Moment
29 perc 71. rész

I hate when someone tells me to "slow down." But instead of thinking of it as "slowing down," think of it as being "present in the moment." Enjoy that moment without distractions.

In today’s episode, we talk about being present in the moment. Someday, that moment will be the last you’ll have with somebody and you’ll only be left with the memories. This is an area that Cristy and Cari have been doing a lot of personal growth in and talking a lot about.

In today’s world, it is very easy to get distracted with all the devices we have and social media. Moments we should be enjoying can pass us by. Social media encourages us to look forward to the next thing without being fully present in the current moment.

For instance, when sharing a meal or talking with a person, it is rude to be on the phone. You are not paying attention to the conversation. Going slow on your meal, enjoying every bite, every taste is a wonderful way to be present and enjoy your food.

Be present in the moment you are right now because that moment will not happen again. Spend time with your loved ones and be present. Time flies by and you are only left holding on to the memories of the moments you had.

Key Takeaways

  • Don't think of it as slowing down, think of it as just being present in the moment (01:21)
  • I don't want to wish my life away (03:49)
  • Being present with the people around your life and enjoying every moment (07:01)
  • Social media makes us always look for the next thing without enjoying the present (09:45)
  • Turning off your devices to be present when having a conversation with someone (14:08)
  • How isolation and lockdown forced many people to be present in the moment (21:43)
  • How Mindful Meditation is helping Cristy with being more present (22:46)

Don't Borrow Trouble!
26 perc 70. rész

So many times, people who come to us and have 60 lbs to lose worry about the end result. They worry about loose skin, when they'll start exercising or that their goal weight is too low. Why worry about those things when you haven't even started! DON'T BORROW TROUBLE!

In this episode, Cristy and Cari discuss some of the common stuff that people worry about that they shouldn’t even be having in the first place. Some people are very worried about some little details that shouldn’t matter at that time. For instance, someone who is starting a weight loss journey and have some much weight to lose can’t be worried about loose skin. You’ve got bigger fish to fry.

Another thing we hear all the time is the goal weight we choose for our clients in our programs. Some rebels are not happy with the goal weight we set for them. They think they’ll become too skinny. The problem here is that they become obsessed with this number yet they have a lot of work ahead of them.

Once you start your weight loss journey, you’ll get a lot of questions and skepticism from naysayers. Remember you don’t have to justify your health decisions to anybody. Don’t worry about what other people think. This is about your health.

The problem with worrying about these things is that it consumes so much of your time and your brain. Focus on the weight loss, once you have reached your goal weight, we will be there to help you with the other stuff.

Key Takeaways

  • Why worry about becoming too skinny yet you haven’t started losing weight (03:10)
  • Do not use your worries as an excuse not to start losing weight and get going (04:51)
  • Frying the big fish first: focus on losing weight first and leave that other stuff (06:57)
  • Why you shouldn’t worry about loose skin at the start of your weight loss journey (09:43)
  • You don’t have to justify your heath decisions to anybody (14:13)
  • The code red weight maintenance program (17:46)
  • You’ve got to do this systematically (20:00)
  • Worrying doesn’t help you with anything, it just slows your progress (22:37)

Pruning Your Rotten Branches
26 perc 68. rész

Twice a year, I have to prune my tree. I love that tree, and I hate cutting off any branches. But these branches are cutting off the oxygen, sunlight, and nutrients from other branches. Same goes for some people in your life. You must prune away those folks because they're robbing you of what you need to thrive.

Anything that holds you back from achieving your goals or is distracting should be pruned from your life. No matter how good it was in the past. I had to break up with my best friend to accelerate to the level I wanted to reach. She was holding me back.

Having friends that have the same goals as you make it easier to achieve them. This is especially when you are on a health journey or a weight loss journey. Remember, you are the sum of the five people you hang around with.

You alone are in charge of your life. You have to do what you need to do to improve your situation. If it means pruning some friends off, so be it. Just don’t be a jerk while at it. You can create distance and get new friends, with the same goals as you. Being in a community of like-minded people is the biggest indicator of whether you’ll lose weight and keep it off.

Look around the people in your life right now. What kind of energy are they bringing to you? Do you need to prune them from your life? Your gut is telling you what to do. Follow your gut and do what you need to do. Your gut is always right; listen to it when it comes to pruning. It may hurt, but is it’s for the greater good.

Key Takeaways

  • A little story about my lovely tree (01:52)
  • Cutting people off from your life who are holding you back (06:53)
  • Having friends that have the same goals as you (11:33)
  • You alone are responsible for your life (17:19)
  • Being in a community of like-minded people is the biggest indicator whether you’ll lose weight and keep it off (18:54)
  • Pruning your newsfeed on social media to protect your energy (22:04)
  • What kind of energy is somebody bringing to you? (23:53)
  • Listen to what your gut tells you about a certain person (24:18)

What STORIES Are You Telling Yourself?
39 perc 67. rész

What stories are you telling yourself? Are these stories limiting you or driving you towards success? Most people are not even aware of the stories they tell themselves. These stories might have been instilled in us while growing up while we pick others as adults. Unfortunately, most of these stories are negative stories that limit our potential.

The first step to overcoming this negative self-talk is by being aware of it. Somebody might mention it to you or you might just listen to yourself and write down these stories. Then you need to acknowledge that you can control your thoughts. You can change how you talk to yourself. Thoughts and words have a really powerful impact on our lives. If you think of yourself as a successful person, then you are more likely to succeed.

You can reverse old stories and make new ones that will drive you forward. A good place to start with changing your thoughts is the two most common things that people tell themselves that are absolutely wrong: I can’t afford this and I don’t have time. These two statements and others should never come out of your mouth. There are many ways you can rephrase them.

Listen in to learn how these statements affect you and how you can rephrase them.

Key Takeaways

  • What is the internal dialogue happening in your head (02:35)
  • How Cristy changed her self-talk and adopted a different money mindset (09:08)
  • Overcoming the lack mentality by changing your thoughts and your words (11:27)
  • What stories that were put in your head while young that are holding you back (20:13)
  • Rephrasing common statements we tell ourselves that are absolutely wrong  (21:50)
  • How self-affirmations push us in the right direction (24:41)
  • Changing your thoughts and your mentality may take a while but soon you’ll believe it (30:54)
  • Reversing mental damage caused by negative thoughts by thinking about positive things happening in your life (37:12)

Good, Better and BEST
42 perc 66. rész

Healthy choices and decisions should progress in a continuum of good, better, and best. Swinging from one extreme to another is not sustainable at all. You can’t just move from unhealthy drive-through meals to eating organic, Non-GMO foods grown in the Himalayan mountains. You have to progress in the direction of better decisions by making small steps while keeping it really simple.

The idea of traveling up the continuum of good, better, and best applies to many aspects of our life. Someone who has been drinking soda all their life will be much better off drinking water even if is from the tap or a plastic bottle. Telling them about reverse osmosis filters and BPA in water bottles will just overcomplicate it for them. They’ll eventually travel up the continuum.

A good way of starting in the continuum of good is by looking at your life. What is it that you do every day? What do you consume a lot of? Can you make better choices with it? A great example for Cristy and Cari is makeup. How can we make better choices with it? Maybe fewer chemicals, nontoxic, gluten-free healthy base, etc. These small decisions will help you subtly up your health game and move in the right direction without doing anything crazy.

Listen in to this great episode and learn more on some other aspects of your life you can make better decisions with as you travel the continuum of good-better-best

Key Takeaways

  • Healthy lifestyle is a continuum of good better and best choices (05:22)
  • Moving in the right direction without overcomplicating it with small details (11:10)
  • A practical example of drinking water as you travel up the continuum of good, better, best (15:46)
  • Making better choices for things you do every day (20:00)
  • How Code Red use this principle to progress from the 10-pound Takedown challenge to the custom program to the maintenance program (28:15)
  • Be better than you were yesterday (31:50)
  • If you can do nothing else, start by drinking water every day (37:49)

Become COMFORTABLE With Being UNCOMFORTABLE
35 perc 65. rész

Our society has got to the point where everything is just too easy. We get everything we want and hate being uncomfortable. We are raising a generation that is used to everything being easy. We have softened our kids and this has led to a lowering of standards.

One of the ways of being uncomfortable is by stepping out of your comfort zones and your routine to do new things. This builds up your mental strength and increases your confidence. You push yourself to grow. You can never grow while in your comfort zone or by avoiding being uncomfortable. You have to be comfortable doing uncomfortable things.

Doing hard things is not only good for your mental health but even metabolically. When you challenge yourself and push your limits, the mitochondria, which are the powerhouse of your cells work harder. This leads to the production of new powerful and young mitochondria. The old and non-efficient die off. Your cells now function much better with young and strong mitochondria powering them.

Doing things outside of our comfort zone makes us a better person. It pushes our brains to develop and increases our self-confidence. You reflect back on what you did and have the confidence to face anything. Be brave enough to try new things even if they appear hard at first.

 Key Takeaways

  • How we are raising a generation of softened up kids and why we should toughen them up (04:25)
  • Finding different ways to be uncomfortable to build your mental toughness (08:27)
  • Changing your mentality to push yourself by doing different new things (21:53)
  • How doing hard things helps us metabolically by generating new strong mitochondria (24:07)
  • Doing things out of your comfort zone makes you a better person (26:45)
  • How rebels who take the 10-pound Takedown Challenge get their confidence back and try out new things (27:43)
  • When you do hard things, you build the confidence to take on anything (30:34)

A Big WIN For The COACH
20 perc 64. rész

This episode is exciting for me because we get to hear from a guy. We don’t do a lot of male interviews and you better tune in to hear coach Ron's story. Being a coach and the athletic director at his school, you’d think that he wouldn’t struggle with weight. However, his weight skyrocketed to the point where he didn’t have any energy and was sleeping all the time. He had to get cortisol injections to his knees to reduce pain.

His wife, a nurse practitioner joined Code Red and did amazing on the program. This inspired Coach Rush to get started on the program. He went on to lose 70 pounds in about seven months and has kept this weight off since then. All because of real food, water, and sleep.

The weight loss has completely changed his life. He is a better coach since he has lots of energy and has gained self-confidence. He is a better teacher, a better husband, and a better father to his children. Not only this, but he has also competed in several athletic events including 3 triathlons and a half marathon, and plans to compete in an Iron Man event.

Understanding Our IMMUNE SYSTEM: How To NOT Become A Susceptible HOST!
32 perc 63. rész

In this episode, Cristy and Cari talk about strengthening our immune system. There are bacteria, germs, and viruses everywhere. There are more bacteria in our bodies than human cells. The only way to keep yourself from getting sick is by keeping your soldiers strong.

The immune system comes from your bone marrow. The bone marrow produces stem cells which then turn into what the body needs to fight infections and viruses. White blood cells are formed from these stem cells. To strengthen our immunity we have to keep the factory strong.

The white blood cells are your soldiers. when you eat junk food, you alarm your immune system. These foods lead to inflammation and your immune system is at high alert. This overtaxes our soldiers which is a bad thing. We want our immune system to work when it should in an effective way.

When you keep eating junk food, having inflammatory responses and keep alarming your immune system, you become susceptible to sickness. Your eating habits and other behaviors either make you less susceptible or more susceptible to sickness. Your immunity is tied to your gut.

Some things you can do to strengthen your immune systems. First, don’t eat junk food. Move from fake to real food. Secondly, eat colored veggies. Thirdly, stay hydrated. Hydration affects your immunity. Get enough sleep to give your system time to rejuvenate. Also, incorporate some great foods that help with your immunity.

Listen in to learn more about how your immune system works and some of the ways you can strengthen it and prevent sickness.

Key Takeaways

  • Understanding how the immune system works (08:46)
  • How crap food alarms your immune system and overtaxes your soldiers (12:20)
  • The inflammatory properties of junk food (14:46)
  • How our eating behaviors make us less or more susceptible host to sickness (16:34)
  • Why hydration and sleep are important for our immunity (20:45)
  • Some foods to incorporate to boost the immune system (23:29)

Be BOLD In Your MESSAGE!
36 perc 62. rész

In this episode, Cristy and Cari talk about being bold. Whatever you believe, no matter what your opinion is, take a stand and be BOLD in your message! It's better to have a backbone and fight for what you believe than to crumble, shrink, and conform to what society thinks you should be.

You should always speak your word with great boldness, even though boldness is polarizing and bold people are not popular. Believe in something and stand for it. Be passionate about it and speak about it with boldness.

There is often a misconception that bold people are disrespectful. Nothing can be further from the truth. Speaking your mind and doing it with conviction rubs some people the wrong way but it is not disrespectful. You can disagree with somebody and do it respectfully.

Life’s experiences create and solidify our boldness. When you go through trials and tribulations, like Cristy and Cari you become bold and do not fear to speak your word. However, speaking your word with boldness doesn’t mean you spew out stupid and obnoxious things. You have to do your research to understand what you are talking about so that people can listen to you.

Key Takeaways

  • Speaking with boldness may make a lot of people unhappy but you should still do it (02:32)
  • Why you should never hide your opinions even when they might not be popular (09:20)
  • Our boldness is created and solidified by the experience we go through in life (12:30)
  • Doing research on what you believe in to avoid saying stupid, obnoxious things (14:05)
  • Being authentic amidst the pressures of social media and all the fakeness that is around (25:44)
  • Being secure in yourself, so that all the hate you get after voicing your opinion doesn’t affect you (30:07)
  • Being like the Proverbs 31 woman who is absolutely incredible (31:30)

There's No Such Thing As "Healthy Weight" - Only Healthy People!
32 perc 61. rész

We start off this episode by crunching off the latest numbers regarding the health of Americans. 44% of Americans are obese. 70% of Americans are overweight and 88% of Americans are metabolically unhealthy. 1 in 4 young people or 25% of young people is metabolically unhealthy. These are grim statistics.

We go through five markers that show if you are metabolically healthy or not. These are from the World Health Organization. It doesn’t matter if you are small or have a great swimsuit body.

The five markers of metabolic health are blood pressure, blood sugar measured through the A1C test, fasting blood glucose, waist circumference, and triglycerides. Listen in to learn about the parameters of each of these five markers and find out if you are metabolically healthy or not. If you are above the limits for three of these markers, then you are metabolically unhealthy even if you are small in size.

Key Takeaways

  • The latest statistics on the health of Americans (04:17)
  • Why weight on the scale is not the only marker of health (06:19)
  • Blood pressure readings taken over time are one of the markers of metabolic health (07:36)
  • Blood sugar levels measured over three months through the A1C test  need to be below 5.7 (10:22)
  • Fasting blood glucose should be less than 100 (12:17)
  • Waist circumference for a man measured at the belly button should be less than 40 inches and less than 34 inches for a woman (13:09)
  • To be metabolically healthy, Triglycerides need to be less than 150 (16:11)
  • Improving your metabolic health by cutting out processed food and eating real food (25:24)

59: IG Q & A with Cari and Cristy
35 perc 59. rész

In this episode, Cari and I will do an Instagram Q&A where our audience will have a chance to run the show by asking us all of their burning questions. The questions came from our Instagram followers and half of them were sent to Cari while the rest were sent to me. The first question will be based on the best and healthiest eating lifestyle during pregnancy, and we will share the real-life example of someone who did low carb, no sugar, and no processed food diet during and after her pregnancy with proven results. While we encourage people to follow their doctor’s orders because we don’t give medical advice, we must highlight that it’s important for one to work with a doctor who believes in real food, water, and sleep so they can have a healthy pregnancy.

The next question was about the 10-Pound Take Down Challenge and why anyone should take it. The challenge is a great way for someone to dip their toe into the Code Red lifestyle, and see if it will be a fit for them. It only costs $47 and goes for 30 days, and one can lose at least 10 pounds during that period by simply eating real food, drinking water, and getting lots of good sleeping. One gets a little tracker to track the water, weight, and sleep each day, a food list, a list of very simple rules to follow, an opportunity to join the Code Red community, 8 am videos from Cari and me where we teach someone something new every day, a thank you incentive gift just for joining, a chance at the challenge swag, and so much more.

To answer the next question, we will share our favorite Code Red meals. When Cari was in weight-loss mode, she would take a big pork roast, put it in the Crock-Pot for hours, take it out, and then section it up into what she was going to have for the day. And because she was doing a custom program, she would weigh and measure the pork roast and take only the pre-portioned amount with steamed green beans, some Redmond real salt, and good quality butter. Mine is Ribeye steak and asparagus simply because they’re yummy, of course, but also because Ribeye steak is a perfect mixture of fat and protein while asparagus is a superfood with a lot of nutrients. Join us as we answer more questions that I believe will cover some of your curiosities about different parts of the Code Red lifestyle, and hopefully, it will help you with your personal weight loss journey.

Key Points of Discussion:

  • Cari coming in at 100 and sexy pounds (01:16)
  • Living the Code Red lifestyle during pregnancy (03:24)
  • Why and how anyone should take the 10-Pound Take Down Challenge (07:20)
  • How one having their periods affects their weight loss (09:40)
  • Properly cooking asparagus and eating for our health and healing (12:23)
  • Eating vegan versus carnivore (18:51)
  • Dealing with a situation where one’s spouse is not supportive of their weight loss journey due to previous failures (23:24)
  • The tips and tricks for a successful sugar detox (28:41)

58: The JOY Of Crossing Things Off Your LIST
31 perc 58. rész

In this episode, Cari and I will discuss the importance of list making, what it's like to live an organized life, and why everyone should consider living an organized life. Making a list helps a person in planning their day or week, and when they get things down on paper, they no longer have to wonder or worry about anything going wrong because even when unexpected things come up they’re better prepared to adjust. When someone has no plan at all they easily go in circles and become scatterbrained which even becomes stressful because nothing gets done.

Organization is important even for kids and it makes a huge difference in their lives growing up when they’re taught how to be organized at a tender age. Making the bed, for example, is a major way one can learn how to be organized all the way into adulthood. Research studies show that when people make their bed, it sets them up for good decisions all day long. Of course, the majority of adults don’t make their bed because they have someone else doing that, but it’s a simple way for one to start their day in an organized manner.

Making the bed is even one of the techniques used in helping people with mental illness, especially depression, because making the bed creates the impression that one cannot get back into bed, and so that helps with their mindset. Cari and I will share some actionable listing making 101 and talk about our experiences with being organized so you can have the tools and resources you need to implement it into your life and start reaping the benefits immediately.

Key Points of Discussion:

  • The value of living an organized life and how to instil it into kids (02:30)
  • The one good indicator of a person’s level of organization in life (05:12)
  • How putting little things on your list will keep you motivated (11:47)
  • The power of list making in helping someone achieve financial discipline (15:20)
  • The value of being specific about the things you’re writing on your list (20:33)
  • Doing a brain dump to get better sleep (23:47)
  • Feeling that good feeling of crossing things off with a sharpie (29:08)

57: The workaround is NEVER worth it
29 perc 57. rész

In this episode, Cari and I will discuss the fact that the workaround is never worth it. That basically refers to how people cut corners in order to get what they want and we’re going to talk about it from a negative point of view where health and fitness is concerned to demonstrate that one cannot cut corners and achieve their goals. For example, we have tens of thousands of people that have come through our channel and we’ve written thousands of custom programs for them so they can go achieve their desired health and wellness, but that cannot be achievable if they work around those programs instead of following them to the letter.

Heavy people are some of the most notorious when it comes to coming up with creative workarounds to living the actual Code Red lifestyle as they’re supposed to. When I see somebody trying to do the workaround, that automatically tells me they're not ready for the benefits of the Code Red lifestyle, and how it can totally change their lives. Such people will want to take shortcuts all the time by, for example, taking keto snacks while at the same time having their sweet fix because they don’t want to eliminate sweets from their diet.

A lot of the workarounds that we see in our industry were borne by the industry itself, and it all started with the original workaround where Ancel Keys did a study that demonized fats, and influenced people to substitute flavor with sugar. People started doing breakfast cereals and other daily meals that were fat free, but loaded with sugar and carbs. Recently it was discovered that fat is not the enemy and people have shifted to Keto diets, which are good because they’re sugar free, but they’re not the best because they’re full of all sorts of chemicals which don’t help with weight loss at all. Stay tuned as we dive further into how someone can get to the root of their weight loss problem so they can eradicate it and achieve ultimate health and wellness.

Key Points of Discussion:

  • How Cristy’s bluntness offends a lot of people (01:21)
  • The creative work arounds that heavy people try to come up with (04:50)
  • Code Red uses the principles of ketosis, but they’re not traditional keto (06:44)
  • A lot of shakes, pills, and diet foods companies don't get to the root of the problem, they mask the problem (11:52)
  • The workaround makes you miss the point (15:13)
  • Eat your food, avoid the fat bombs, and lose your weight (20:40)
  • How people use exercise as a workaround (23:23)
  • The proper human diet is meat and vegetables (26:49)

56: The Role Of Your Mindset In Your Health And Wellness
31 perc 56. rész

In this episode, I’m going to have a conversation with Kris Gethin, an internationally renowned trainer, CEO of a supplements brand (and a host of other businesses), and former Editor-in-Chief of a leading fitness website. Kris has established himself as one of the most versatile fitness entrepreneurs in the industry. Before founding Kaged Muscle, he competed as a lifetime natural pro bodybuilder, placing as high as second place in the Natural World Championships. As a personal trainer, his clients have included Bollywood celebrities, billionaire businessmen, and champion athletes. In between training clients, he has certified more than 800 personal trainers, and somehow, this tireless innovator found time to co-found a health club franchise called Kris Gethin Gyms. He has shared his extensive knowledge through books, newsletters, videos, and podcasts.

He’s also very active in the nutrition sector with Kaged Muscle, a company dedicated to creating cutting-edge, ultra-premium sports nutrition supplements for athletes of all types. All of Kris’s pursuits are consistent with his mission of helping others reach their health and fitness goals. When you first meet him, he's like a mean-looking dude with his beard, tattoos and muscles upon muscles, but nothing could be further from the truth, because he’s a soft-hearted and lovable man.

He has tons of knowledge in many different areas, major among which is fitness and has achieved so much in his life. The main reason why I invited him over to the show is because he has some really great insights on the mental side of health and wellness. And I would like him to share that with us. He will dive into the importance of cutting toxic people and things out of our lives, the value of daily meditation, how to stay calm in challenging situations, the health benefits of eating slowly, and so much more that will teach us all how to live balanced, happy and healthy lives. Stay tuned for more.

Key Points of Discussion:

  • Kris’ amazing backstory (05:05)
  • Merging the health sector with the sports performance sector (07:54)
  • Listening to our own voice and meditating in order to manifest our lives (10:26)
  • Keeping away from toxic people, toxic relationships, and bad energy (13:25)

  • The critical importance of hydrating enough (24:44)
  • An opportunity to get ahead by socially distancing ourselves from bad food (27:51)

55: You Can Do It Smiling Or Crying But You're Gonna WORK
33 perc 55. rész

In this episode, Cari and I will have a conversation that was inspired by the National Geographic series, Life Below Zero, wherein a recent episode, the featured Alaskan used the phrase “You can do it smiling or crying, but you're going to work” to refer to living in Alaska. That caught my attention because it rang true to any part of the world or in any part of life. One has to put in the work in order to achieve anything, regardless of whether they enjoy doing the necessary work or not.

We understood the value of work since we were young and we felt a great sense of pride in being able to contribute to our family’s success by working on our farm, so working hard for what we desire has always been part of our value system. Cari will address the fact that putting work when it comes to health and fitness is all about perspective, and she will refer to her weight loss journey by talking about when she used to go to a gym and smile through all the hard work she had to put in while most women would just complain. Her idea of perspective comes from the fact that she tirelessly smiled all through the workouts her trainer had her doing because she understood that she was doing it all for her own overall health and wellness.

While weight loss journeys are typically full of tough moments, one must train themselves to find something that motivates them to change their perspective about the work they must put in to achieve the weight, health, and wellness that they desire. We’ll talk about just how much of a difficult time people have on their weight loss journeys when they choose to be angry and resentful about what they cannot have and share some actionable advice about how to overcome that so you can go out and really commit to living a healthy life. Tune in and you’ll definitely get what you need to move forward in your health and wellness journey. Enjoy!

Key Points of Discussion:

  • Exposing the lies that the diet industry has given us over the years (02:13)
  • Finding pride and identity in the work in order to shift everything (06:42)
  • It’s all about perspective (08:18)
  • It's all about how you choose to face your weight loss (12:09)
  • Finding some joy in the journey to be able to smile in your work (14:18)
  • The great thing about the Code Red custom programs (15:30)
  • Eating junk always catches up with people (22:01)
  • Focusing on the journey to have good health through a lifespan and how it frees up one’s evenings (28:35)

54: You Ain't Getting Away With It!
35 perc 54. rész

In this episode, Carrie and I will have a conversation about a weight loss and overall health issue we recently came across from one of our rebels, and that is the idea that some people can put horrible foods into their bodies and still maintain their weight and health. That is so false and the fact of the matter is, “You think you’re getting away with it. You ain’t” The rebel who brought up this issue has so far lost over 100 pounds and has been in maintenance for a while, but she struggles with anger and resentment issues towards her family members because they still choose to eat junk food.

We’ll start off by highlighting that we don’t encourage our rebels to use the words, “I can’t eat…” when they’re refusing to eat something that’s not going to be good for them and to instead use the words, “I choose not to put that into my body” because at the end of the day, not taking bad food is not a prison, but a choice. We’ve all had this experience where someone we know has always been skinny no matter what quantities of junk foods they take, and we envy them because we feel that their bodies are somehow able to keep them from gaining weight or being unhealthy. The truth is no matter how skinny one seems to be on the outside, they could be riddled with health problems on the inside with fat surrounding their organs.

That therefore means that being skinny doesn't automatically mean one is healthy, and that they can take all manner of junk foods and get away with it. It’s a proven fact, for example, that sugar feeds into cancer cells, and it’s present in a lot of junk foods like processed beverages. So when a person makes a habit of taking such foods, they’re more and more prone to developing all sorts of cancers. Stay tuned as we share all our insights on the subject matter and make sure you apply all the actionable advice towards a healthier and better you.

Key Points of Discussion:

  • Karma is a B; We can’t eat horrible food and expect not to be harmed by it (04:14)
  • Just because you're a size two, doesn't mean you’re healthy (06:20)
  • Ultimately, we’re the ones who choose what goes into our mouths (12:42)
  • How experiencing the negative effects of taking unhealthy foods became a norm (16:22)
  • Everybody pays the price at different times (19:48)
  • It's either an early death or a long healthy life (22:21)
  • The value of understanding the chemical reactions that take place when we eat different foods (24:20)
  • The piper is going to be paid and karma is coming around the corner (29:48)
  • The Taco Tuesdays are going to add up and it’s going to be rough (31:39)

53: How To Raise A Healthy Kid When The Deck Is Stacked Against You
26 perc 53. rész

In this episode, I’ll have a conversation with Jennifer Ludington, a big player in the health and fitness industry, about raising kids in a balanced manner, with health and wellness being at the forefront. Jenn has a 13-year-old daughter (Laney) that she raised mostly alone, and she brought her up in her gym, literally, because she used to train her clients while her daughter slept on the floor of the gym (comfortably of course).  Jenn taught her daughter personal responsibility for her own life and health, and it translated not only into the person and leader that she's become, but also into her becoming a highly balanced and healthy individual.

Jenn believes that parents should empower their kids to make their own health and diet decisions by always teaching them the benefits, or lack thereof, of different foods. She applied the same with Laney since she was little. When it came to food, Jenn always gave her two choices, to eat or not to eat. She never forced her to finish her food and would always educate her instead of the pros and cons of what she was about to eat. If they were at a McDonald’s, Jenn would tell her exactly what’s in McDonald’s food products, and Laney would make her own choices.

Now that she’s grown up, Laney is accustomed to eating healthy diets and whenever she goes off track and takes something she’s not supposed to, she actually gets herself back on track by detoxing and getting back to her proper diet. Jenn advocates for mothers putting their ego aside and creating the time to take care of themselves and their health, so they can really take care of their kids. Tune in for more on that and how Jenn was able to get past the struggle to raise an independent teenager who not only takes personal responsibility but also balances her own health.

Key Points of Discussion:

  • Passionate about fitness, health, and really pulling people forward (03:46)
  • Teaching our kids personal responsibility for their own life and health (06:43)
  • A 13-year-old who makes her own decisions about food (09:08)
  • Educating our kids about what is in different foods and allowing them the space to make their own choices (10:59)
  • The mom guilt how it makes 90% of women do more for their family than they do for their own basic care and needs (15:26)
  • Prioritize yourself because it doesn't take much for your fitness (20:22)
  • Getting rid of your ego to put an end to your excuses (22:11)

52: Sloppy Diet = Sloppy Life
25 perc 52. rész

In this episode, I’ll be talking about how a sloppy diet leads to a sloppy life. Using my own personal experience, I’m always eating Code Red 90% of the time, but 10% of the time I find myself going off track especially during my international travels because it gets a bit hard to follow my diet when I’m in countries overseas. And I have noticed that when I get off track, and I start eating crappy food, everything else in my personal and business life becomes sloppy.

Sometimes I try to convince myself that if I eat crappy foods in moderation, that it’s not so bad, but it always gets out of hand and I find myself forgetting what moderation really is, and eating a whole lot of the foods that I’m not supposed to eat. And this is a widespread problem in America. Two-thirds of Americans are overweight while a third of them are pre-diabetic and obese. So we really aren’t so good with moderation. One has to completely commit to their diet 100% to succeed in achieving better health and wellness.

I also can’t highlight the importance of exercising enough. It may not have anything to do with weight loss, but it’s critical to maintaining the Code Red lifestyle. I’ll talk about the struggles I have with exercising consistently and tell you how I get affected so negatively when I don’t exercise on top of taking crappy foods. This episode will serve as a much-needed pep talk especially if you’ve been having the same struggles with maintaining that good diet. Stay tuned for more.

Key Points of Discussion:

  • Sloppy diet equals sloppy life: Cristy’s personal experience (01:00)
  • You can't be sloppy in your health, weight, and maintaining wellness, and have the rest of your life be thriving (05:38)
  • Although exercise has nothing to do with weight loss, it’s very important (09:00)
  • It’s not about the number on the scale, it’s about feeling fantastic (12:00)
  • One might fall off the wagon but it’s all about how fast they get right back on (13:33)
  • It’s partly in our head and partly a chemical addiction (15:50)
  • You’ve got to have accountability and don’t let yourself get into the crap (18:05)

51: Triple Digit Weight Loss With The Code Red Lifestyle
34 perc 51. rész

In this episode, I’ll have a conversation with two super phenomenal people, Sarah and Brandon Heatwole, and I know that you’ll just fall in love with them. Their story is really amazing. They had their life all figured out. They dated, got married, and had planned out this awesome future together, but it was all getting destroyed at an alarming rate right before their eyes because of their obesity.

Brandon was over 300 pounds and Sarah was approaching 300 pounds, and it all happened so unintentionally from following what the marketing campaigns and food pyramids are always advising Americans. When they got married, they decided to have a kid so Sarah went off birth control, and within five months she had put on 80 pounds, and found out that she had PCOS that made it much harder for her to lose the weight.

Brandon was also having huge health challenges of his own with his weight, and it even threatened his job. One day while Sarah was at work, she overheard someone talk about how they had lost 40 pounds (and their mom lost 100 pounds) with the Code Red Lifestyle. So she got very curious, researched it, went home and told Brandon about it, and they bought the Code Red Revolution book.

It took them 4 days to read the whole book and they started going off of it while also researching more on Code Red. That’s how they found out about the 10 Pound Takedown Challenge. They signed up as soon as they could and never looked back. They are now down to about 100 pounds each, and their lives have never been better. They’re healthier, happier, and so fulfilled. This could be your story too. Listen in for more and you’ll definitely get a ton of inspiration.

Key Points of Discussion:

  • How they became overweight and the struggles they went through trying to lose it unsuccessfully (05:31)
  • Grappling with PCOS and so many other medical problems (08:40)
  • The solutions they were trying our before and why the Code Red Lifestyle worked for them (11:44)
  • Losing 100 pounds, investing in losing more, and managing look better than they did when they were young (18:30)
  • The value of staying connected to the Code Red Lifestyle community (24:37)
  • Shifting their life goals and working on accomplishing them together (28:15)
  • Following the rules to feel better, have the inflammation go down, your energy go up, and just overall feel like a million bucks (31:52)

50: Sick Of Her Own Excuses, She Lost 100 Lbs
23 perc 50. rész

Erica had a whole host of excuses. It was one right after another. But after her vacation was ruined from massive GI pain, she finally said "ENOUGH" and joined a challenge.

The 100 lb weight loss is just the tip of the iceberg to the host of benefits she received from following the 10-pound takedown challenge rules and the Code Red Revolution book.

Her IBS and the gastrointestinal issues are completely gone. She’s had patellofemoral syndrome, which is a knee clicking and grinding and all of that. So it makes it hard to like say run or do anything.

Stairs were hard, but she also weighed 100 more pounds, so that didn't help that situation. So that is completely gone. And now, she gets so many compliments not only about her weight, but also about how happy she is.

Mentally, she’s so much happier. She’s smiling more they're like, “You're like a whole new person.”

And just to remind you, she did it just with a 10-pound takedown and just with the Code Red Revolution book and with no bullcrap excuses. This can be you. So stay tuned to know more.

Key Points of Discussion:

  • What life was like before Code Red for Erica (5:06)
  • She tried a different program that was kind of more supplements and things of that nature (6:08)
  • It was so bad and that was her turning point… (6:56)
  • How she heard about Code Red (8:49)
  • A shocker about starting on the 10-pound takedown challenge: Losing two and a half pounds right off the bat (12:20)
  • It definitely wasn't easy, and the sugar detox was tough (15:00)
  • The non-scale victories that have happened since she’s taken control (16:00)
  • Her reply to the naysayers (18:30)
  • Her husband has noticed how Code Red works and how amazingly it works. He's not part of Code Red but he's lost weight just by making better choices (19:39)

49: How Weight Loss Has Brought A Cascade Of Benefits For Todd And His Family
26 perc 49. rész

Tipping the scales at 315, Todd became painfully aware that his weight was impairing his draft horse's performance. He had no idea that being on the Code Red Lifestyle would not only help him drop 100 lbs but get off medications, give him loads of energy and improve his mood! You won't believe his story.

Around 300 pounds, his doctor was telling him: “Hey, you really shouldn't gain any weight.”

And indeed, he was having problems. His knees hurt, he went for a hip replacement surgery, and his left foot was majorly injured in the aftermath of two accidents, and more weight was being put on it.

He’s felt crappy for so long. He didn't know what feeling good felt like. So he joined the 10-pound takedown challenge, he switched his diet to meat, vegetables, nuts, eggs, seeds, seafood and fat, and he got off the crap that was causing him to have high blood sugar, high blood pressure or high cholesterol - all of this stuff that we want to avoid and he started feeling better. And as of today, he weighs 226 pounds.

He moves faster now. He climbs on to haystacks, in and out of tractors and forklifts, and feels so much younger, nimble, doing all of that. His knees and joints feel better.

And so, the healing is taking place, the energy and productivity have increased, and the mood enhanced.

Stay tuned to know more.

Key Points of Discussion:

  • A couple of accidents were hard on Todd’s left leg (3:38)
  • “You've got to keep the weight off because everything's going to be hard as you put weight on, on joints, on the knees, hips...” (5:45)
  • He thought: here he was putting these horses through this kind of a regimen and all he was eating was cheeseburgers while they were waiting there and getting bigger and bigger (6:44)
  • Todd’s wife took the 10-pound takedown challenge and they saw immediate success as regards dropping some weight fast (9:24)
  • As of now, he weighs 226 pounds, way down from 315 pounds (14:09)
  • The weight is way down on the list compared to all the pain he is free from now… (15:23)
  • Todd and his wife are both on a pretty good schedule where they both eat together and it's just worked out really well, the food and everything… (16:51)
  • His sister-in-law joined the August challenge and she’s done well too. It's just had a little bit of a ripple effect in the family (17:59)
  • Todd was earlier on a sugar candy addict like crazy (19:05)
  • So much of good and success right from day one didn't leave either of them - Todd or his wife - with much of a trust issue (20:11)
  • Once they got rid of that sugar and everything came alive, healthy foods were so much more palatable (22:10)

48: Make It About The MEMORIES
35 perc 48. rész

So much of our celebrations and life experiences revolve around food. But we encourage you to make it about the memories and not about the food.

In our society today, where there's so much processed food and so many restaurants to choose from and there's celebrations and anniversaries and birthdays and dinner, everything is so centered around food. That just wasn't our situation growing up.

If you're caught in this cycle of making your life about the food instead of the memories, even if your family still is that way because we have families that are struggling with that right now. All the holiday traditions are about food and they're trying to lose weight. All of the vacations are about food and they're still trying to lose weight.

If your relationships are built on memories and love and communication and fellowship and closeness and sharing of your spirit with each other, it wouldn't matter if Cari and I were sitting at a Denny's having a $2 meal or in Turks and Caicos having a hundred dollar meal - we would have the same experience.

You can change the trajectory of your children. If you stop and change now, don't let any more time go by while you're on this current path. Turn and walk a different direction and start planning things differently.

Yeah, make life about the memories and your brain will start to shift away from food and you will be free. It's so freeing to be able to go on vacation, not be stressed about what you're going to eat and when you're going to eat it. Just go and have a good time.

Stay tuned for more.

Key Points of Discussion:

  • When it comes to our childhood, we never think about the food part. And you too - Make it about the memories (6:16)
  • Good job on Mom's part in really making sure that our memories were around the actual family times together (7:55)
  • When you are eating processed food, processed carbs, and sugar, it does hijack your brain (17:52)
  • Cari says when I tell her my story of going to Europe, it never has anything to do with the food that I ate there (19:55)
  • Food was never more than fuel to them… (19:56)
  • “Vacationing is just eating in a different place.” - Jim Gaffigan (21:20)
  • They genetically engineer those foods to make you want to crave more… (23:13)
  • Instead of going for a family meal, we're going to get to know about Army bases… (24:46)
  • Do your research for sure on family vacations… (26:13)
  • Start getting a different vacationing. Just make it a little different this time (32:08)
  • Make life about the memories and your brain will start to shift away from food and you will be free (34:04)

47: It's Not A Weight LOSS Problem; It's A Weight REGAIN Problem
27 perc 47. rész

In this episode, Cari and I discuss the fact that there is n number of ways to lose weight. You can lose weight on the cayenne pepper and lemon diet. You can lose weight on Shakeology or Isogenics.

You’ll lose weight on the phentermine pills. You won't sleep, but you'll lose weight on those. You can exercise yourself to death six days a week doing an hour of CrossFit. But so many people regain their weight.

And that's the thing. People gain it back. In fact, every single person, every single leader and coach that's ever left Code Red has regained their weight.

Even the best of them fall and if you are not adhering to the rules, you are going to regain your weight.

So how do you keep off the weight? It's all about accountability. It's about staying connected.

Cari and I are accountable to each other every day. I tell her how I slept, I tell her how much water I'm drinking and what my weight is or if I'm fluctuating or how I'm feeling.

Accountability and sustainability indeed are keys.

The first rule to keeping your weight off is you've got to stay on that scale every single day. Number two, you always drink your water every day. And the third rule is you don’t allow sugar or junk food to stay in your house.

Stay tuned for more.

Key Points of Discussion:

  • Keeping the weight off after you lose it is the real challenge (3:23)
  • It's all about accountability (5:59)
  • You will regain your weight if you go back to your old ways (9:27)
  • Everybody's got a set of rules to adhere to (9:36)
  • Besides accountability, sustainability is a key (10:36)
  • Among founding members of Code Red, they’re now regaining their weight... (11:24)
  • If a coach regains their weight, it's going to be harder for you (12:05)
  • If sugar is within your proximity, you'll eat it. And it hijacks your brain (12:54)
  • The three basic rules to keeping your weight off (15:05)
  • If you want to come back to Code Red, just join a challenge (24:14)

46: Amazon Prime FAST Weight Loss
36 perc 46. rész

People are so used to "Amazon Prime fast" that they automatically think weight loss is going to happen in a jiffy. But when you abuse food for decades, it's gonna take a hot minute to lose that weight!

In many ways, it won’t be an exaggeration to say that Amazon Prime has been like the best thing that has ever happened.

Amazon Prime gives us instant gratification. In fact, we have no lack of instant gratification in our society.

Come to think of it: When you have to work hard for things, you have to earn it, you have to work towards it, and you have to make payments for something and get it at the end of the summer or get it at Christmas time and you have to wait 10 months for something or next year, you learn how to be patient. You really appreciate things on how to have to work for it.

In Code Red, you can lose 10% of your body weight every month on a custom program.

That's by eating real food. No shakes, no pills, no diet foods, no exercise. So it's remarkable. We are. Nobody gets weight off people better than Code Red. Nobody. I'll put up ourselves up against anybody around. Come on, let's go head to head. I'm telling you, nobody can come close to us.

And yet, people get frustrated and we hear it every time. And we field so many frustrated people that are stalled. Like a girl says: “I'm so frustrated. I'm 5.5 pounds down and I'm stalled. I'm so frustrated.” I said: “How long have you been losing weight? And she said, nine days. And I said, you've lost 5.5 pounds in nine days, but you haven't lost any in the past too. And you're upset.”

You didn't gain this weight overnight. You are not going to lose it overnight. You have to get rid of that quick-fix mentality that take a pill and it all goes away.

How you feel now will be worth it when you get what you want later on. It will be worth how hard it is right now, in this moment.

It cannot instantly be delivered to your home. It's going to take work. That work is going to change your heart and that is really the value of this. It's not being a size six. It's what comes inside when you change your way of thinking about life.

Stay tuned.

Key Points of Discussion

  • We have no lack of instant gratification in our society (3:27)
  • No one wants to play the long game for that delayed gratification (12:24)
  • You have abused food for decades (12:34)
  • A case of Diet Coke a day and you're two weeks on Code Red and you're wondering why your cravings haven't gone away (13:02)
  • An addiction that person's had for years ain't going away with one month worth of Code Red (14:34)
  • People don't want to put up with the crappy feelings now for how good they're going to feel later on (16:01)
  • You can't detox tomorrow (16:46)
  • What you feel right now is really worth how you're going to feel in the end (19:56)
  • As long as you're moving forward with each failure, you're still moving forward (24:07)
  • You can't have a fix it fast mentality on the way that your brain catches up with who you are now (24:54)
  • It's not like all of a sudden, you get to a size six and you go, “Okay, I'm going to get used to who I am.” (26:46)
  • It really is a soul journey. Give yourself some time physically… (27:53)
  • You have to get rid of that quick-fix mentality (29:56)
  • It's going to take work (33:38)

45: Pre-Diabetes: 1/3 Of Us Have It. What Is It And Why Is It Serious?
31 perc 45. rész

100 million people in the USA are pre-diabetic. This is a serious problem that no one is talking about. And the reason is that people don't quite understand it. So in this episode, Cari and I will explain this condition in layman's terms and tell you what you can do about it.

We have seen people on our program decreasing their insulin demands, getting off their diabetic agents because they're choosing to eat the proper human diet.

You’ve got to give up the sugar, whether you want to lose a hundred pounds or you don't want to be diabetic anymore.

We're telling people to give themselves insulin to bring the sugar levels back down when the real answer is just to stop eating the crap food.

On Code Red, we all eat like we're diabetics.

If your doctor has said to you you're pre-diabetic, please do not lose hope. Please do not think that's a death sentence. Please do not wait for it to get worse. There is a better way.

We teach on Code Red: "no snacking", and that does solve a whole lot of issues.

We don't eat frequently on Code Red. What it does, it beats up your system. It causes you to secrete insulin all day long and your body cannot get it back down to baseline and you really are beating yourself up.

Cut back on processed foods and sugar.

Once you get on Code Red, you get completely detoxed from the crap - Let your blood sugars come down and just eat the two meals a day.

Please follow the advice of your doctor as far as titration is concerned.

Stay tuned to know more.

Key Points of Discussion:

  • One-third of people in the US are pre-diabetic (4:54)
  • When it’s pre-diabetes, you’re still in the reversing stage (10:58)
  • We’ve seen people on our program getting off their diabetic agents (12:36)
  • They want to have their cake and eat it too. They're making themselves sicker (13:29)
  • You’ve got to give up the sugar (13:53)
  • When the real answer is just to stop eating the crap food… (15:07)
  • Why Code Red is the answer to pre-diabetic or type 2 status (16:45)
  • Why we teach "no snacking" on Code Red (17:36)
  • Why we don't eat frequently on Code Red (18:48)

44: The TRUTH And LIES About Olive Oil
47 perc 44. rész

Olive oil is an excellent source of fat. But is your olive oil really olive oil? TJ Robinson, the owner of Fresh-Pressed Olive Oil, tells us how to find out, in this episode…

As TJ says, many don't know what fresh olive oil tastes like. Most olive oil in the US is sub-par.

He works with boutique family producers all around the world at the peak of freshness and harvest time because that's different in the northern and southern hemispheres.

He works with those families to curate a trio of fresh oils every quarter. In fact, he has a club called the Fresh-Pressed Olive Oil Club.

In this episode, he talks about how to taste your olive oil at home to say whether it's real olive oil or not, to help educate your palette and give some shopping tips.

He also debunks the myth that you can’t use olive oil for cooking.

Olives are fruit and you have to think of fresh olive oil as fresh fruit juice. Olives, when picked, are very temperamental. So that's a race from the moment you pluck an olive from the tree to its being pressed into oil. During that process, lots of things can deteriorate it or make the oil defective or sub-par.

Stay tuned to know more.

Key Points of Discussion:

  • “My goal is to change your life with one taste.” (5:03)
  • Back when TJ started the Fresh-Pressed Olive Oil Club in 2004… (8:47)
  • Americans have been buying for lots of decades olive oil that's misrepresented (9:52)
  • If you're buying a single estate oil, you know that's a family’s pride and joy (10:17)
  • A lot of the oil at big-box stores is maybe diluted with a high inflammatory oil (10:47)
  • It's best to consume independently certified extra-virgin olive oil when it's fresh (12:09)
  • TJ says they sell high-polyphenol olive oil that’s very fresh (13:18)
  • An aha moment in about 2004 when TJ was invited to an olive oil harvest party (15:01)
  • Olives are fruit and you have to think of fresh olive oil as fresh fruit juice (16:26)
  • TJ looks for small family farmers, people who have a lot of care and love (17:06)
  • A lot of Code Red rebels are using olive oil as the backbone of their healthy cooking (21:01)
  • Olive oil keeps you feeling full and healthy longer (31:02)
  • Benefits of good quality olive oil (31:54)
  • How to taste the olive oil you have at home so you can assess it (32:25)
  • Educate your palette. Look for harvest dates, dark glass, a high-turnover place (44:59)

43: Being Free From The Problem Doesn't Mean It Is GONE
21 perc 43. rész

Just because you’re free from your addiction doesn’t mean it’s out of your life! You might run into the temptation over and over, so how do you handle that?

We'll take sugar addiction, for example. That's a very common one. Most of us on the Code Red lifestyle are recovering sugar addicts. It's so hard because recovering drug addicts don't keep drugs in their pantry, but as for recovering sugar addicts, the sugar's everywhere.

So you might have kicked your sugar habit, but that doesn't mean that it's completely out of your life. It's not out of your life. It might be out of your pantry, your desk drawer at work, your glove box, your little hidden compartments. I have a relative that hide sugar all over the house.

When you're getting rid of all that, you're rooting it out of your life, but it, unfortunately, is still in the world and it's still around us. So you've got to find a way to deal with the fact that you're still going to be bombarded by it.

We put safeguards in place on the Code Red lifestyle to make sure you do not go back to your old ways and you're able to stay on the straight and narrow.

Our top three rules in Code Red - The first one is you always drink your water every day, the amount that you need. You always get on that scale every morning. And the third rule is you never, never, never say it with me. You never, never, never allow sugar to stay in your house.

And we put these safeguards in place to protect you, to protect you from you. Because willpower ain't enough.

Stay tuned to know more.

Key Takeaways:

  • You might have kicked your sugar habit, but that doesn't mean that it's completely out of your life (2:40)
  • We put safeguards in place on the Code Red lifestyle to make sure you do not go back to your old ways; the top three rules in Code Red (3:35)
  • We are telling corporates to quit putting sugar-vending machines, soda, and juice, in the break room (6:31)
  • It does get easier the longer that you're in this lifestyle, but it doesn't go away (7:22)
  • You don't go back to the same hangouts with the same friends that drink, but sugar’s everywhere… (8:59)
  • You’re going to have problems. That's just how life is (10:38)
  • You can put measures in place to make sure that you're not bumping up against that problem quite as much (12:57)
  • It's important that you have a community, a support system, and accountability (13:16)
  • The Code Red community is strong. We love you, and we'll come around you (14:08)
  • You clean out your cupboard, your fridge, your glove box, and your desk at work (14:42)
  • Don't get that righteous, that better-than-thou attitude (16:15)
  • Let your testimony speak for itself. Don't judge people (16:43)
  • You keep getting healthy. You keep your “why” in your mind (19:52)

42: After 48 Years Of Suffering, Cindy No Longer Battles This!
28 perc 42. rész

In this episode, I interview Cindy Gleed. Since the age of 3, Cindy had a debilitating medical condition that robbed her of birthdays, anniversaries, kid's soccer games, and vacations. Listen to what happened after she got on Code Red.

She shares with us the troubled times she’s been through, what with never having had an entire year of her life without a migraine.

Cindy's one of our Code Red rebels, but she's a quiet one and she posted in the Code Red life group, which is the large community group that we have. When she posted about something that she had dealt with for 48 years since she was three years old and the migraines going away after she joined Code Red, I had my Code Red team reach out to her immediately.

I am thankful to her for having agreed to share her story.  Maybe you have dealt with something like this and maybe someone you know has dealt with this and you thought there was no hope. Cindy thought after 48 years of dealing with this condition that there was never going to be a solution.

That's all gone away after being on Code Red and you're going to hear from her yourself. It's nothing short of a miracle and I say miracle, but then again, it can happen to you too. It's real food, water, and sleep.

Cindy says it's changed her life 110%, and she’ll never go back.

Well, those in the medical community just threw medications at her. They never said: “What are you eating?... Let's try to do the elimination diet... Let's get you off some inflammatory foods.”

Stay tuned to hear this incredible story of complete healing coming from nutrition therapy.

Key Points of Discussion:

  • Cindy recalls having pain in her head so bad and being violently ill (5:28)
  • Birth control pills and the estrogen or something made it way worse (6:36)
  • Anytime she would start to relax, she'd get a migraine (7:32)
  • As for the trigger, she’s hasn’t figured out anything other than emotions (7:41)
  • The point where she could not sleep them off anymore (8:40)
  • Having been with Code Red for a year, migraines are a thing of the past (11:07)
  • There's so much more to it than just weight loss (11:34)
  • She’s been religious and following the food to eat and not to eat… (12:49)
  • She’s turning down ice cream, donuts and chips - It's a no-brainer for her (14:01)
  • She wanted to lose weight and I didn’t expect the migraine thing! (15:43)
  • Her two sons have their mom back for the first time probably in their life (18:57)
  • She sleeps better now; she’s got steady energy output (20:48)
  • To have the vibrant and glowing wife back… (21:50)
  • Her tryst with smoothies before she ran into Code Red (24:13)
  • “Trust Cristy; she knows what she's talking about.” (27:23)

41: Be A PRODUCT Of Your PRODUCT
19 perc 41. rész

When it comes to entrepreneurs, people who have started a business, they run their own business, they run their side hustle, they run a company, whatever - You have got to walk the talk. You have got to represent what you are selling.

People buy things from people that they know, like, and trust. How in the world is somebody supposed to trust you if you aren't even using your product?

People who are selling a product, is it working for you? Do you use it? Are you a product of your product? Why should people buy your product if it doesn't even work for you?

If you're running a side hustle, if you're selling Mary Kay and you're not even wearing any make-up, how is somebody supposed to buy make-up from you?

Nobody lectures me on weight loss because nine times out of 10, I'm going to look better than them. And if they're lecturing me on weight loss or on body fat, they better be much leaner than me and they better have a lot more clients and a lot bigger company and they better have had tens of thousands of more people come through their program.

Whatever your area of expertise is, make sure that you are representing that openly and representing it as an expert. Dominate in that field.

As soon as you present what you are an expert in, you are going to get judged in that area of your life and that is just human nature. But especially if you sell that product, you've got to level up in that area.

Stay tuned to know more about my thoughts on being a product of your product.

Key Takeaways:

  • “Be a product of your product or I'm not going to buy your product.” (2:22)
  • You have got to walk the talk and represent what you are selling (3:14)
  • One who is 30 pounds overweight pitching me with a weight loss product! (3:49)
  • Don't expect to sell a whole lot if you're not even walking the talk (7:42)
  • They're going to scan you up and down. They’ll find out if it works for you (8:12)
  • Nobody lectures me on weight loss… (8:19)
  • Some fitness instructors and coaches don’t look healthy (8:58)
  • Those who walk the talk because they are a product of their product (11:01)
  • If you don't do what you're telling your kids to do… (12:30)
  • Represent your area of expertise openly as an expert (13:18)
  • Nobody's better at getting weight off people than me and I do walk the talk (14:48)
  • You've just got to make sure that you are dominating in your field (15:14)
  • Be the example. Just set the example (16:03)

40: Code Red HOUSEKEEPING: 4 Habits To Change In Your First Month
27 perc 40. rész

There are four habits that'll need to change in the first month of Code Red. We call it "Code Red housekeeping" and they might surprise you!

The first thing you're going to want to do when you get on Code Red is to clean out the four main areas. Cupboards, fridge, glove box, and your work desk.

Don't think I don't know what's in that glove box. I do. And I also know about the crap you're hiding in your work desk in the name of food. So that crap has got to get cleaned out. Your cupboards need to be cleaned out of anything that is processed and anything that has any kind of sugar.

If it's close to us, we will eat it.  I've had over 40,000 people go through my challenges. I know this is true. I'm telling you right now, you'll cave if it's in your house. No sugar in your house - that’s a no-compromise rule.

If you have a spouse that does not want to make this change, you have to remember that you are 50-50 owner of this house and your spouse needs to come halfway.

You cannot be expected to say on track, especially in the first month, if you have got junk food surrounding you. This is especially true if you're a proximity eater - which most of us are.

As you go through this process, you lose some people from your life, and that’s ok. It’s not because you are a bad person or because they are a bad person - you are both just on different paths now.

Stay tuned as we talk about cleaning out your cupboards, cleaning out your newsfeed, cleaning out your friends’ list, both in-person and online, and cleaning out your thoughts.

Key Takeaways:

  • Clean out your cupboards, fridge, glove box, and work desk (5:21)
  • Anything that is processed and anything that has any kind of sugar is a no-no (6:02)
  • If it's not meat, vegetables, nuts, eggs, seeds, seafood and fat, it needs to go (6:08)
  • If it's close to us, if we have it, we will eat it (7:46)
  • If your spouse does not want to be Code Red and stuff, you can have a talk… (9:01)
  • People usually stumble and fall at their own home day after day… (9:20)
  • I want you to get into that freezer and I want you to dig (10:11)
  • The top three rules of keeping your weight off of the rest of your life (11:21)
  • Clean out the newsfeed (12:02)
  • Get surrounded by firms, ads, and people who line up with your thinking (13:57)
  • Treat yourself like an addict - You’re a recovering sugar addict (15:48)
  • Clean out those friends. Some of them might not love you like you think they do (16:37)
  • Clean out your head: We're talking about repeating mantras to yourself (20:05)

39: Searching For The QUICK-FIX
34 perc 39. rész

Everyone is searching for the "quick-fix" to health and weight loss, but there is no pill, drops, powder or snake oil bullcrap that is more powerful than real food, water, and sleep.

Cari and I understand that feeling of desperation and that might be what you're feeling right now, listening to us. But let me tell you that we’ve done the phentermine pills. We have done the weight loss surgery. We have done the quick fix and they're NOT a quick fix.

It won’t get you there any quicker than just doing Code Red.

There are a number of biohacks out there that people are trying that aren’t necessarily bad.

Testosterone injections aren’t bad. The implants aren’t bad.

We’re just saying: Make sure you’ve got the BASICS down before doing any of this.

People are desperate. Our society is riddled with people that want to get plastic surgery instead of just not eating so much.

The bottom line: There's just no easy way around it and Code Red is the easiest hard thing out there.

Key Points of Discussion:

  • No amount of biohacking can replace real food, water, and sleep (4:48)
  • Coffee enema cleanses every 30 days, but eating Taco Bell every day? (9:28)
  • The body knows how to detox itself, provided there are no toxins coming in (9:53)
  • If it’s a complex medical problem, let's get it figured out, but there are the basics (11:31)
  • What will actually improve mitochondrial function? Eating only two meals a day (13:49)
  • Collagen supplement and work on telomeres et al are valid. But it’s important to get the basics in line (16:27)
  • If it doesn't work in six days, they're switching to a different method (17:41)
  • We have to follow rules for the rest of our lives (20:35)
  • I thought that having a boost of testosterone would help me get leaner (23:45)
  • I've tried all those things and nothing has ever worked for me like Code Red (24:56)
  • Code Red is a great way to lose weight, but it's still work (27:52)

38: Your PAIN Is Someone Else's GAIN
21 perc 38. rész

In this episode, we talk about your pain being someone else's gain. The test that you went through has created the testimony and you're able to now share that with other people - Don't forget how powerful that is. Talk about finding the silver lining, right?

I mean, talk about taking a bad situation and turning it around for good.

I am grateful for all the times I struggled. Be grateful for the times that you might be struggling right now and be grateful for the time you might be struggling in your weight loss because this is going to make such a great testimony.

Some day, when you become a leader or you become a Code Red coach or you go to spread the Code Red message, this is going to be your testimony. This is going to be the story that hooks people in and they're going to gain from your pain. They really are.

It's a tremendous gift. I mean, it's kind of sounds sick and sadistic, but enjoy the struggles. You can enjoy your life even in the middle of the struggles. You really can. You can just sit back and say: “All right, what else you got? I'm smiling.”

There are other people who are going to benefit from your struggle and maybe it'll help you kind of keep your chin up a little higher and just keep putting one foot in front of the other.

That's all you can do right now. Just keep trucking forward. You can totally do this. You're a rebel, you're strong.

I just hope what I share with you in this episode helps put things into perspective for you. Stay tuned.

Key Takeaways:

  • I hung on to bitterness about what I went through, up until recently (5:19)
  • A few years later, a guy who earned my trust stole money from me (6:33)
  • Someone else is going to hear my story and they're going to be healed (6:56)
  • Embrace the struggle. That is your test that's becoming your testimony (7:53)
  • Staying strong every day through your weight loss journey (8:25)
  • When the Bible says pray for your enemy… (9:28)
  • Your ongoing crisis or weight loss struggle will make for a great story (13:08)
  • I am grateful for those rough times and thankful for those struggles (14:05)
  • I’ve got some good stories now and I’d not trade those times for anything (18:05)
  • Do not forget, your test becomes your testimony, and that there's power in that (19:30)
  • Pray for the people that hurt you, pray that they will come to an understanding of what they did, ask for forgiveness, and start walking the straight and narrow (19:41)

37: Feeling Deprived vs Feeling Empowered
32 perc 37. rész

In this episode, I have a guest with me. Andrea Dell is a Code Red-certified coach. She heads up the copywriting department for Code Red. It was not an easy feat getting to the level that she is at right now.  If you would know her now compared to just a couple of years ago, she isn't even the same person.

As she confides, before Code Red came into her life, her health had started going on a downward spiral, where she just got super sick. She could not even walk, much less go hit the gym, and she couldn't breathe because her stomach was swelling.

It was pushing on her heart and lungs and it was all very scary. At one point, she thought she was dying. She thought her heart was just going to go one day and she was going to fall over dead at age 32. It was changing her diet, changing what she ate, that brought her back from all that.

In 2017, she found Code Red - the 10-pound takedown, which she joined. She got a custom program and lost 28 pounds in seven-and-a-half weeks. She’s been maintaining her weight for over two years at the time of this podcast recording and she absolutely loves it.

Andrea was once told by someone that Code Red is too restrictive. Her reply was: “I really don't feel restricted at all. And not only do I not feel restricted, I actually feel freer than I ever have.”

She shares with us: “I think when people see a program that's not a quick-fix gimmick, like Code Red, and they see they're going to have to maybe follow a rule or two, maybe make a change in what they eat and give up on these foods that they're so dependent on emotionally or their body's addicted to, they look at that and they go - ‘Oh, I'll have to restrict myself. I'll have to deprive myself’ and I get that. I've been there before. But for me, when you make the choice, that getting the weight off and feeling great about yourself and physically, is more important than that stuff. It's set me free with my health and also in all those areas of my life that I've been able to level up just because of that domino effect.”

Stay tuned as Andrea and I walk you through the ways in which Code Red has empowered us.

Key Points of Discussion:

  • Andrea is pretty unrecognizable vis-a-vis a few years ago, courtesy Code Red (4:07)
  • Losing the weight caused every area of her life to level up and to rise up (8:03)
  • For her, the feeling great is more important than eating s’mores at 8 pm (11:33)
  • She feels freer being in control than she does caving into impulses (12:53)
  • She’s making the decision not to put it in her mouth. And that is freeing (13:52)
  • She loves the way she looks and feels now (14:40)
  • Far from Code Red being restrictive, we’re eating the proper human diet (16:50)
  • They engineer stuff so that it lights up the pleasure center of our brain (18:05)
  • I love the control to push past hunger and that uncomfortable feeling (20:39)
  • Andrea’s family members too have gotten healthy through Code Red (23:51)
  • She says post-Code Red, her income has gone up! (27:48)

36: The Shame Of Weight Loss Surgery
33 perc 36. rész

More and more folks are getting weight loss surgery done and gaining back their weight. But why? In this episode, Cari and I will be explaining it all. In fact, Cari will be sharing her personal experience with weight loss surgery. We get down to the rules, the workarounds, and getting past the shame associated with the surgery.

Cari’s weight is under control, but no, that is not because she went in for weight loss surgery. In fact, though she did lose weight with the surgery, it caused so much damage in her body that she had to actually have it reversed. And then, keeping her weight down from that point was all Code Red.

For those of you that have failed a weight loss surgery and you feel terrible because you spent the money, there is hope, and Cari is a wonderful example of that. There is life on the other side. Please do not be ashamed, please do not feel embarrassed. It is not your fault. It's a volume reduction surgery, but in all likelihood, you didn't get down to the heart of the issue, which, chances are, is your food addiction.

You have to get to the root of the problem. And the weight gain is not the problem. It is a manifestation of a bigger one. The weight loss surgery, whatever kind you pick, is not going to solve that problem until you dig to the root.

You may be dealing with your anxiety, your grief, your loss, your stress, your happiness, sugar, and eating, all at the same time. While I never got as heavy as Cari did, I had my own battle with weight, and I would deal with many of the challenges I confronted, by eating.

A lot of people come to us and they want to be Code Red rebels, or they sign up to be Code Red rebels, and they are driving the excuse truck.

Well, you can park your excuse truck and get off because, in this episode, we’re going to talk to you about how things can be different for you. Stay tuned.

Key Points of Discussion:

  • They are dealing with guilt and shame. They are struggling with the water requirement, and with how to go about this new lifestyle of real food, water, and sleep (3:14)
  • Cari has had three surgeries done to try and fix the damage from the weight loss surgery she went in for earlier (5:44)
  • Even that volume reduction surgery won’t work if you are addicted to sugar and to processed foods (7:19)
  • Take some time to be able to build up to the gallon of water (11:41)
  • We don't believe in three meals and two snacks (12:52)
  • Be purposeful about the water you drink, and about every bite that goes into your mouth (14:26)
  • You need to buy the Code Red cookbook (17:08)
  • You can make up your own recipes. Real food just in a different form so you can eat it… (17:52)
  • You need to pause your liquids before eating and pause them afterwards, and give yourself some time to eat (20:10)
  • Heard of noatmeal? If you haven't, you need to try it (21:19)
  • Are you going to be able to say, “Oh, it's Code Red, so I can eat all I want”? No, you can't. (22:20)
  • We support you in whatever way it is going to work for you, but you've got to stick to the rules (22:57)
  • Just because you had surgery doesn't mean you get to do whatever you want (24:37)
  • You have to be okay with getting divorced from some foods (26:34)
  • If you have had gastric surgery, please stay in touch with your doctors (27:16)
  • If you need supplements, go in for good quality ones; don’t take crap vitamins or crap minerals (27:42)
  • We're looking for people who have given up hope and we're your last shot (30:16)
  • Take our hand and trust us while we get you through this process. But we aren't going to tolerate any excuses (31:53)

35: What Really Makes You A Rebel?
24 perc 35. rész

People think that being a Code Red rebel means you eat meat, sleep a lot and never have sugar. And yes, that’s true! But what if you keep messing up and cheating? Does that mean you're not a rebel?

Well, there's a lot more to being a rebel than just the scale going down, so much more than just the weight loss. Yes, we lose weight by bringing ourselves back to the proper human diet. Yes, we lose weight by drinking water instead of Red Bulls, wine, soda, juice, tons of coffee. Yes, we heal. Our bodies are able to heal because we are nourishing ourselves on a cellular level.

We're eating the food that we were created to eat. It's a proper human diet. Yes, real food, water, and sleep. We are no longer sleep-deprived. We are no longer chronically dehydrated. Our body is letting go of that bio-accumulated body fat because it no longer needs it. Yes, that is happening. Of course, the scale is dropping.

To my mind, being a Code Red rebel is about rebelling against what the society has brainwashed us into believing about diets, exercise, weight loss, food meal times, and what have you.

We do not accept the idea that you’ve got to have your breakfast at eight and lunch at noon, and dinner at six, just because society tells us to. We do what's right for us.

We rebel against society telling us to eat three meals and two snacks because eating frequently is proven to do damage to the body in many different ways. It keeps insulin levels high. It damages the gut lining. It's terrible for your digestive system. It’s terrible for the hormones. We don't address our weight problem through exercise, because there's no way you can exercise it off.

Not everybody is hungry at 8 am, but the society says, “You’ve got to have your breakfast at 8 am with us. That’s the most important meal of the day.” That’s baloney. The most important meal of the day is the one that works for you the best way.

If you believe in the Code Red mission statement, falling off the wagon at any point does not mean you’re not a rebel. Stay tuned as I walk you through what it takes...

Key Takeaways:

  • You can get started with the 10-pound takedown challenge, or with my book “The Code Red Revolution” (4:18)
  • Job one is cleaning out your cupboards (7:45)
  • We've been trashing our bodies for the past 50-60 years (10:02)
  • As long as she believes in the movement, she's a rebel (10:51)
  • I’ve fallen off the wagon. Does that mean I'm not a rebel? No way. (11:10)
  • We have meal one, meal two, when it's right for us, we eat when we're hungry (11:39)
  • When it comes to cholesterol, you only need to be afraid of high LDL if you have high blood sugar (12:37)
  • They're putting more stress on an already stressed-out body, out of guilt and shame (13:36)
  • If we are going to create a movement, if we're truly going to have a revolution, that's got to come from us; it's got to come from the grassroots movement (18:06)
  • We vote with our dollar every time we eat. That's what I want you to believe. That makes you a rebel (14:33)
  • Top rules of keeping your weight off: Stay on the scale every day, drink all your water every day, never allow sugar to stay in your house, and get the junk food out, too (14:54)
  • If you’re falling off the wagon and are hanging on with one arm, I can still work with you and pull you back (17:00)
  • It doesn't hurt my heart as much if you've put on 30 pounds. It hurts my heart as much when you won't talk to me (19:02)
  • You can be messing up and still be a rebel, just like you can sin and still love Jesus (19:23)
  • Struggling does not make you “not a rebel” (22:27)

34: Finding What Works For YOU
34 perc 34. rész

When losing weight, you've got to stick to the rules and follow the program. But once you get to maintenance, it’s all about finding what works for you over the long term.

People often come to think there's only one way to eat for everybody - that is just simply not true. Now, we do believe that there's never really a place for processed Frankenfood crap. Talking of having Slurpees from a 7-Eleven every day, and having Ding Dongs and Ho Hos every day, there's not a place for that, but other than those foods, there really isn't just one way to eat for every single person.

There's just not one right way, and that's how Code Red was born. The program was born because I got heavy and fat. I put on quite a bit of weight even though I was exercising three to five hours a day. When I realized that it was all diet-related, and that exercise had nothing to do with losing weight, I created Code Red as a mixture of many different programs. It is a mixture of Atkins, paleo, Mediterranean, keto - lots of different things. I mixed them all and came up with Code Red, so you're going to see things that they allow on keto, that we don't allow on Code Red.

Once you lose your weight on Code Red, we transition you to a maintenance group, and we encourage our rebels to find what works for them because they might be a little different. We're really strict during weight loss, but during maintenance, although we still have our core values and rules in place, we do want you to mess with the formula, just in case you think you are missing something or you think you want to try something else out.

You need to have the right plan for you to match your goals and to whatever is going on in your life, right then. For instance, if you are training for a marathon, and you are in our maintenance group, we are going to change your diet a bit. We’re going to help you determine what carbs you need to help fuel you for that marathon.

If your goal is to get super shredded and super lean, we're going to keep you on Code Red. I might even put you on a carnivorous diet, I don't know. And so we're really going to adjust you down, but you have to find what works for you.

In the short term, we want you to eat according to Code Red. We want you to stay strict. I want you to stick to the food list. Do not deviate from your custom program plan. You do exactly what I say until every last drop is gone, and then, I switch to playing the long game - What can we do for you long term, that is going to keep this weight off for the rest of your life. Weight loss and maintenance modes are not that different, but there are going to be some shifts. To know more, stay tuned as Cari and I explain to you how one size just does not fit everybody.

Key Points of Discussion:

  • He's able to build muscle on veganism; not everybody is that way (6:28)
  • Code Red was born as a mixture of many different programs (6:44)
  • We encourage our rebels to find out what works for them in maintenance mode (7:48)
  • Be wary of too much stress on your body in the fat-burning mode (8:09)
  • We change people's food when they’re on maintenance as per their goal (12:05)
  • What works for me, might not work for Cari (12:05)
  • Different case: She's not exercising. She doesn't have a big calorie demand… (13:12)
  • I don't want you coming to Code Red just for short-term ends (15:48)
  • I don't want to see you add certain foods back in, but there are some foods you can, if it works for you (16:32)
  • What are you eating now and how is that working? (17:25)
  • We have a very strategic protocol to transitioning you into maintenance. And it's only adding one thing at a time (18:27)
  • What is working for you right now may not be what works down the road (20:12)
  • Being a “nutrivore”, meaning picking the best quality you can, of your food, and finding the eating style that works for you (26:38)
  • It’s about accountability, and long-term sustainability (28:01)
  • You can’t take Phentermine every day for the rest of your life and expect it not to hurt your body, but you can do Code Red every day for the rest of your life (28:18)
  • If you clean up your diet, you can find out what is going to work for you (30:05)
  • We only want what you can keep up with for the rest of your life - for you to keep your weight down and still feel good (32:25)

33: Remember The WHY That Makes You CRY
30 perc 33. rész

You've got to have a solid enough “why” that is going to push you through your weight loss journey. And this is the point where people often get lost.  They lose their compass. Your “why” should always be your compass. Like it should always point you towards true North. Your “why” should always be at the forefront of where you're headed in weight loss. And this could be not just weight loss, but maybe your health journey after you've lost weight, and are starting to exercise, too.

When you’ve got a “why” that makes you cry, it's a different ballgame altogether. Talking of the journey, at first, you are enjoying when you lose a lot of weight at first. It’s just like when you first start your Master's degree, you're enjoying writing papers. You like going to class or whatever it is you're doing. And then, about halfway through, about 50 pounds into 100 pounds, you start getting weary. And that is normal.

It's a grind. Code Red makes weight loss so much easier than it is with the starvation, low-fat baloney that's out there. It's challenging nonetheless. You’ve got 100 pounds to lose. That's no joke. That's a grind. So you get halfway through and you start to forget. You start to forget why you started this journey in the first place. That’s why the “why” is so important!

In fact, in our 10-pound takedown challenge, “Remember your why” is one of the daily videos. Early on, we have our rebels writing down why they're doing this, and it could be a list, could be one, 15, or maybe be 56 things - we don't know what's going on in your life. But we have you stick it at different places, so that you can always be reminded of that. It's not a matter of “if”; it's a matter of “when” you are going to slip or want to give into slipping, be tempted and want to quit. The stronger your “why”, the steelier your resolve to latch on to what you’ve set your eyes on. Let Cari and me walk you through what it takes to have a strong “why” in this episode. Stay tuned.

Key Points of Discussion:

  • You guys listening to us make Code Red what it is. We can’t thank you enough! (2:57)
  • Is your “why” strong enough for the long haul? (6:16)
  • Struck by arthritis, she couldn’t hold a hairbrush; that must have been her “why” (10:22)
  • You have to recommit to your health every day (11:16)
  • The more the hurt involved in your “why”, the more it seems to push you through (12:49)
  • As you travel with Code Red through life, you may notice your “why” changing (13:55)
  • “I was sweating, I was humiliated. And that was my “why”. That made me cry.” (20:04)
  • “I was miserable. You’ve got to hang on to that when you feel like giving up.” (21:36)
  • Maybe you need to say, “I'm not going to settle for being mediocre.” (22:59)
  • Make no mistake about it: You're in a battle for your health (24:24)
  • As long as you hold our hand, we will get you through this (26:10)

32: The Last Meal Phenomenon
31 perc 32. rész

Have you ever heard of the "last meal phenomenon?" Nor had we! But it sure explains a lot of things. Listen to this (but be warned: once you know you can't "un-know!")

There's an idea out there, that what you ate at your last meal, your previous meal, so whatever the meal was before, it doesn't matter if it was dinner and then breakfast the next day... So whatever you ate for meal one, sets you up biologically for meal two, and they've done studies about this...

If you eat crap at meal two, okay, whatever time that is, the next day, when you get ready to have meal one again, you've set yourself up for a higher rate of failure unless you're thinking ahead and being smart. Lots of people don't realize this. They eat a meal one - they have a bagel. Well, now you've spiked your blood sugar, you've fed the weak cells in your body, cheap and easy glucose. So what's happening now is your body has gotten what it needs.

Your weak cells have gotten what they need. They don't have to die off and you make new mitochondria. They've been able to access cheap and easy. It's like keeping a dead and dying thing on life support. So now you've fed the crap cells that don't work very well for you and that are aging you. So you've fed all those, you've set your blood sugar up for what we call the last meal phenomenon.

So now meal two runs around and you're hungry earlier, because you ate crap food, you didn't need a good protein, you didn't have any good source of fat, you ate a bunch of junk carbs and then the next thing you did was so your blood sugar’s whacky and now those mitochondria are, and all those cells in your body that are kind of junky anyway, are like, “Ooh, pizza sounds good.” You normally wouldn’t do that, but because you ate the other, it sets you up. And this is how people fall off the Code Red wagon and gain 50-60 pounds. They just keep that cycle going over and over and over and they don't even realize they're doing it.

So there you are… You’ve been warned… That seemingly harmless one-off or occasional giving in to temptation could send you hurtling on a downward spiral. But let’s be clear on this: it is not you being a bad person. It's the chemicals that are put into those foods that make them highly addictive. So the whole point is, make choices that help you avoid the last meal phenomenon. And that’s the idea I and Cari are going to elaborate on in this episode. Stay tuned.

Key Points of Discussion

  • How the last meal phenomenon gets you off the Code Red wagon (6:02)
  • I’m a recovering binge eater, and the “phenomenon” makes sense to me (8:15)
  • You need to release the shame from that, because your brain has been hijacked (10:37)
  • If you have an addicted customer, you have a customer for life (11:17)
  • Make a choice that is gonna set you up for success (12:36)
  • Success begets success. Yes, good decisions beget good decisions (14:38)
  • Stay hydrated, keep your sleep up - that’ll help you make better choices (16:36)
  • Setting yourself up for success by planning for the week ahead (18:55)
  • Reach out to the Code Red community when you’re falling behind (19:35)
  • Success, in general, is a compilation of one good day after another (22:45)
  • “Failing forward” and learning from mistakes (24:41)
  • As consumers, you vote with your dollar (29:22)
  • Don't forget 10poundtakedown.com - that's where you get started (30:23)

31: Anyone Can Lose Weight. But Can You Keep It Off?
26 perc 31. rész

Anyone can lose weight! But can you keep it off? Hear how this Rebel and business owner kept her weight off even during vacations, and in the face of travel, stress, and life.

Marley Baird, our guest in this episode, is a YouTube and video marketer. She helps her clients build their YouTube channels and spread their message to the world. I started working with Marley about a year ago and I hired her company to put together beautiful professional videos. I got her on to Code Red. She lost 20 pounds. She stayed Code Red through the holidays and through travelling. For your information, her work gets her to travel every week.

What we get to know during the course of the interview with her on the podcast is that she has found travelling to have made her more conscious of choices that gel with her decision to go Code Red. If she knows she’s getting on a plane and the flight is going to be five hours, she packs her food. And if she knows she is going to be stuck somewhere, she looks for the options that she knows fit Code Red.

Marley admits that she knew she wasn't very happy being 20 pounds over where she needed to be at and eating what you wanted - junk and everything.

And even when she did start doing Code Red, she would have people saying: “What do you mean you're dieting? You're fine.” And now, when she looks at the “before” and “after” pictures and shows them to people, they say: “Oh yeah. Oh good for you.”  And prior to her Code Red experience, she had a personal trainer for over a year and the scale moved maybe three to four pounds.

So in Code Red, Marley finally got a custom program and she just dove right in. And here she is, one Rebel reminding the others, that following through with your weight loss commitment is not as scary. If she can do it, you can do it too. Stay tuned for inspiration.

Key Points of Discussion

  • Marley told Cristy she wasn’t happy with her weight. She agreed to try Code Red (6:44)
  • She doesn't feel like she’s holding back or that she’s lacking good food (8:17)
  • Her mind was made up and she was like: “I am doing this.” (10:26)
  • The 10-pound takedown challenge was her gateway to the custom program (10:37)
  • With Code Red, she saw the results quickly, that kept the momentum going (11:22)
  • “Everyone who's making this lifestyle change should celebrate small wins” (14:12)
  • If she has friends eating cheesecake, she'll have the strawberry fruit bowl (16:33)
  • She still weighs herself every morning (17:29)
  • She sleeps really easily and better now (20:48)
  • “It's a commitment. It's just like anything else you decided to do in your life” (21:53)
  • Remembering your commitment and why you are doing this (24:31)

30: There Are Many Ways To Measure Good Health And Progress
32 perc 30. rész

On the Code Red lifestyle, we teach our Rebels to weigh themselves each morning, no matter what.

The scale is the first line of defense.

But the scale doesn't tell the whole story. There are many ways to measure good health and progress. Be sure to look at the whole picture during your weight loss journey.

The society largely measures good health based on the size of your clothes, based on a number on a scale. Now, of course, we are a weight loss program. We care about the numbers on the scale because that's how we track progress. So we’re not asking you to throw out your scales. What we’re saying is these numbers are only one indicator of good health.

You can use blood work numbers, you can use physical fitness tests, you can use a lot of different ways to measure good health. We don't want you focusing on just one.

What often happens is that when one number does not change or when there are issues with that number, we freak out. How about your glucose numbers? How about the sugar in your blood? Are you reducing the amount of medication that you're taking? Are you sleeping better? Has the Code Red lifestyle eased off pain? And how about your energy levels?

You can have lemon and cayenne pepper and Diet Coke and you'll lose weight, but you want it healthy, don’t you? Of course, you do, which is why Cari and I are going to walk you through the myriad indicators of good health that a Code Red lifestyle brings to the fore.

Key Points of Discussion

  • It’s frustrating to see the society judging health based on a couple of numbers (7:49)
  • The scale is going to show you not only bodyweight but also fluid balance (9:53)
  • All the same, we expect you to continue losing 1% of your body weight a week (10:31)
  • Are you sleeping better? That’s an indicator of good health (11:47)
  • About Cari’s blood work, medication reduction, body fat, eyes, and skin (18:07)
  • A 90-day success journal that helps you keep track of all the metrics (22:33)
  • You are healing your body every single day. Do not take that lightly (26:06)
  • She eats junk food and has Mountain Dew all day long… (28:20)
  • 10poundtakedown.com is where you can go to get started (31:28)

29: You Say You'll Die For Your Child, But Will You LIVE For Your Child?
24 perc 29. rész

People say, “I'd die for my child!” But no one ever says they would "live for their kids". It’s so noble to shout that you would lay down your life for your child, but why don't you take care of your health and live for your child?

Have a look at some startling figures. As many as 33% of the people in this country are obese, while 66%, that is two-thirds, are overweight. Have you looked around at how sick and fat our society is? This is the first generation of children that will not have a longer life expectancy than their own parents.

Every single time you lift the fork to your mouth, you are either shortening your life or you are lengthening it. But nobody thinks about the crap you're shoving into your mouth in the name of food. Nobody thinks that you are on your way to orphaning your child. You are setting it up to where you die at 54 years old, because your diabetes went unchecked and now your spouse has got to raise your kid. Nobody's talking about that. But in this episode, I’m going to be taking it up with you, so stay tuned.

Key Takeaways:

  • Every time you put that pizza into your mouth, you’re shortening your life (10:41)
  • As parents, we are just trying to get by; we are not thinking long term (12:29)
  • You'd rather pay for diabetic medication instead of managing blood sugar (14:43)
  • Do you love your kid enough to take care of yourself? (16:02)
  • Take care of yourself or you can't take care of other people (17:00)
  • Joe Cross said he was sick because he put everything ahead of himself (17:33)
  • I'd love to see you all live for your kids (19:02)
  • The 10 Pound Takedown is a great place to get started (20:39)

28: Behind The Scenes With Cari And Cristy
43 perc 28. rész

In this episode, I invite you to go behind the scenes with me and Cari, where we tell you tips, tricks and real talk about our own life routine, struggles, and how we unwind.

To tell you the truth, we're no different from you guys. We do a lot of the same things. We have things we have to worry about, people we take care of. You know, it's just life. And so we want to give you an insider view of what goes on in our life. The things we like to eat, the products we use, things that are very important to us, just the inside scoop.

People might find us weird, but how we come across on “Rebel Weight Loss and Lifestyle” is truly how we are. When you meet us in person, if you're watching us on Youtube or listening to our podcast, we are no different.

I and Cari are similar in many ways. We are both early risers, and we both have a pretty strict exercise routine - we're both morning workout people. We both love having eggs and bacon. We both love unsweetened nut milk. We both are big fans of clarified butter. And we both love Milk of Magnesia - the pink drink that is a boon when it comes to constipation.

One of my non-negotiables when I travel, and I travel quite a bit - I always drink all my water. When one is travelling, it’s easier to get dehydrated. I am fiercely protective of my sleep. I’m a broccoli and cauliflower fan. I like hiking.

Cari loves going on adventures.  She loves the ocean. She really loves to read and her favorite author is Francine Rivers. She loves research, and getting into the hot tub. She likes watching cake-decorating videos on Youtube....

Want to know more about what makes us tick? Just stay tuned.

Key Points of Discussion

  • Cari wakes up early just like Cristy does, and hits the ground running (6:47)
  • She hasn’t been able to sleep in since losing weight and becoming a gym person (9:04)
  • We both are steady five days a week when it comes to exercising (9:52)
  • I'm only going to eat those two meals and I just want to make it count (24:45)
  • Cari loves meeting new people and going places she’s never been (29:00)
  • I like to do things to take my mind off Code Red, trying to take 30-minute bursts (32:20)

27: Remember Where You Came From!
33 perc 27. rész

Remember where you came from! Before you pass judgment on someone, don't forget that was you not so very long ago.

Lots of those who opt for the Rebel Weight Loss program end up going through a 10-pound takedown challenge and their eyes are now open and then they now judge other people who are buying the “junk” at the grocery store. But when they cock a snook at them, they conveniently forget that not too long ago, they were in their shoes.

Well, never forget what it felt like to be fat!  It's not really hard to go back there if you're not careful. When you see somebody in the grocery store, and they have just all kinds of processed sugar-laden, chemical crap foods in their cart, it’s simply because they don't know any better. After all, for all we know, nobody out there means to poison their kids.

Just so you know, that was you 10 pounds ago, or you 20 pounds ago. Maybe that was you 100 pounds ago. But let's never lose our compassion and never forget what it was like to be that person.

And if you want to help people by telling them about Code Red, remember - There is a time and a place for everything, and your personal testimony will mean more than anything else. You could say something like, “Yeah, well, I've lost weight and kept it off.” And then if they're ready for it, they’ll want to know more about it.

I and Cari are going to tell you more about the importance of bearing in mind where you come from, so stay tuned.

Key Points of Discussion

  • Sad to see someone struggling with weight and having kids yelling for sugar (7:39)
  • Most of them don't know that real food, water and sleep are the keys (9:46)
  • It's just so easy to go back there (10:33)
  • Being secure in Code Red and not being arrogant about it (13:55)
  • If you want to tell people about Code Red, let your life lead them by example (15:02)
  • Remembering what it was like when you first started out losing weight (28:02)

29 perc 25. rész

Gained your weight back? I'm asking you to let go of the guilt and shame and come back to Code Red. It just takes one decision...

22: The Biggest Defining Moment of My Life
32 perc 22. rész

In this episode, I’m going to answer some questions that people ask me all the time. One of those that I get most often is, what made me the way I am? This moment happened in my childhood and I can guarantee you, it’s not what you’ll be expecting. Here’s a hint, it was a simple and subtle “I CAN” that helped me become fearless and confident in everything that I do.

Hopefully, I’ll get you inspired and encouraged in my backstory. And I hope this reaches some parents who are raising kids as well, because we want our children to be the best, yet stand up on their own when their grown-up.

21: Nobody Cares As Much As You THINK
25 perc 21. rész

Newsflash: nobody cares as much as you think.

We're all wasting time worrying about whether someone is gonna like what we're wearing or how our hair is fixed.  But the reality is - that person is too worried about what you think of THEM! So get rid of those thoughts because they don't matter.

In this episode, I will be very straight forward, frank and give you some dose of reality. More often than not, we always tend to think about what other people are gonna say about us, how do we look, what clothes we wear or simply what they think of us.

But wait!!

Have you ever thought they’re just doing the same? They think the same as what you think, wasting time and energy thinking about what other people think about themselves. This is a sad reality and I want to tell you that you NEED to ditch those thoughts and change your mindset. You can live your life without thinking how they think about you because... honestly, NOBODY CARES.

Key Points Discussed:

- I appreciate you (01:07)

- A dose of reality (04:37)

- Be the best version of yourself (06:46)

- A waste of energy (09:55)

- 2 thoughts to focus on (12:51)

- Shift your mindset to things that matter (13:49)

- Quit borrowing trouble (17:55)

- Arrest those thoughts (18:35)

- Be careful with the people that you hang around (19:45)

- Always assume positive intent (22:19)

- Free yourself up (23:22)

20: Be The First To Go
35 perc 20. rész

In this episode, I will talk about why people don’t want to go first. Why they are always hesitant to be the first to do anything, like enter a food line, sing the first karaoke song, introduce themselves to a room or arrive at a party.

People tend to just go with the flow and settle for what is considered to be “normal”. Normal rarely steps up and makes a difference.

You should BE THE FIRST to go so that you set the standard of excellence!!!

Hopefully, I’ll have covered some ways and tips you can implement to start to step up and be different from the norms and live a confident life. That’s the way we Rebels live.

Key Points Discussed:

- Choose your heart approach to weight loss reviewed (01:18)

- Top 3 reasons for weight loss stall (04:12)

- The tough love program (09:01)

- Be the first to go (11:29)

- Set the standard of excellence (14:02)

- Forget about the "what will people say" mindset (17:29)

- The low self-confidence person (22:03)

- Be different to stand out (24:45)

- Choose who you’re with, not all are good for you (30:13)

19: Learning and UN-LEARNING
32 perc 19. rész

Everyone knows that learning is important but unlearning is just as important. Most of us have years and (if not decades) of bad behavior, bad habits, and plain ‘ole bad education. In this episode, I will discuss the importance of learning, unlearning and relearning.

There’s a saying “You need to be a lifelong learner”, which teaches us to keep on learning, keep on acquiring new knowledge or skills. Learn, learn, learn.

But we are never taught to unlearn the things that might have hurt as in the past, words that hindered us from becoming better, those limiting beliefs that we can’t do it, and the negative thoughts that block us from making our lives better.

Key Points Discussed:

- Rebel Weight Loss in the top 30 best podcasts in fitness and nutrition  (00:52)

- The hard-hearted Cristy Code Red gets into tears (03:08)

- Cristy unlearned from the past (07:42)

- Not all people live in an environment of creativity and openness (11:55)

- Words of encouragement goes a long way (15:43)

- Lack of mentality holds you back (17:56)

- Playing to win and instead of playing to not lose (19:57)

- Things you might want to know about the food pyramid (21:48)

- Eat twice a day for optimal health (24:43)

- Things you need to unlearn with your nutrition (25:53)

- Unlearning is universal in your life (28:17)

- Learn, unlearn and relearn the Code Red style (30:05)

18: Pick Your Hard (Because It's All Hard)
21 perc 18. rész

In this episode, we’re going to talk about one of the realities of life -- “pick your hard because it’s freaking hard.”  The thing about this is, you don’t get to realize that you always have a decision to make that is hard. Either of the options will always be hard if you come to think of it.

The reality, no matter what decision you make, there is an element of "HARD" that comes with it. It's hard being fat, being skinny, being short, being tall... It's all freaking hard. So you will have to make the decision which "HARD" you'll want to handle.  Because you'll deal with one hard or the other...

Hopefully, at the end of the episode, you get to realize which freaking hard will you choose. So pick your hard wisely!

Key Points Discussed:

- Rebel Weight Loss and Lifestyle Feedback (1:20)

- The freaking “pick your hard” (03:33)

- Everything is hard! (04:46)

- The “hard” decisions (07:28)

- Excuses, excuses and bullcrap excuses (10:42)

- You always have a choice (12:57)

- Which “hard” you can handle? (16:49)

In this episode, we’re doing Instagram Q & A again because we’ve got a lot of requests from Code Red fans who wrote in from Instagram and it was very well received last time we did this.

As expected, I answered them unscripted, unfiltered, honest and as candidly as I could, and I’ll be doing the same thing again in this episode.

These questions are from real people who have asked on Instagram and they have given me permission to share their names and shoutout. We covered a lot of topics from general questions about weight loss, the best choices you can use for a healthy diet, fat vs muscles, and preparing for the weight loss challenge, and much more. 11: Predator vs Scavenger: Which One Are You?
20 perc 11. rész

In this episode, I will talk about predators and scavengers, predators and prey, within the human world. As humans beings, we are typically supposed to act like predators especially with our eating habits, but that’s not the case at all.

We act more like scavengers, picking food off of our kids’ plates, eating leftovers, feeding our addiction to sugar, eating food that’s not even real food, and basically just eating things that are very detrimental to our health. We lost our predatory instincts and respect for our bodies, and I wanna help you put an end to that, so listen in.

Key Points Discussed:

- Predators vs scavengers (01:02)

- Society has become spoilt and soft (04:31)

- Fattest and sickest nation in human history (05:17)

- Fat, sick and nearly dead with Joe Cross (13:25)

- Respecting ourselves enough to give ourselves good healthy fuel (17:40)

10: Who Are You Blaming For Not Keeping You Happy?
18 perc 10. rész

In this episode, I will talk about the question of who exactly is responsible for a person’s happiness. There are people who tend to always blame others for their mistakes and they walk around with a very irritating victim and entitlement mentality.

They’re always feeling sorry for themselves when things are not going great, and they expect others to make things okay and make them happy, but I’m going to debunk all that and tell you the truth for what it really is; the only person responsible for your happiness is yourself.

Key Points Discussed:

- Choosing not to be a victim (03:57)

- Being responsible for our own happiness (06:28)

- Negative emotions are a choice (08:12)

- Challenges shape us into better people (12:29)

09: Take A Long, Hard Look In The Mirror
19 perc 9. rész

In this episode, I will talk about the need for each of us to take a long, hard look in the mirror. Most people who have weight problems do not like looking at themselves in the mirror or they only look at themselves from the neck up just to make sure they look okay.

They always hate what they see and have so much self-loathing, shame and guilt, so they avoid mirrors and even pictures. When you look at yourself in the mirror, do you like what you see? If not, then you need to do something about it and, most importantly, commit to it.

Key Points Discussed:

- Hating what we see in the mirror (02:19)

- Are you giving 100% in every area of your life (04:01)

- Keeping your mind in the game (07:53)

- Maintaining the Code Red integrity (12:05)

- What are you doing for you? (14:29)

- Knocking out the bullcrap mentality (16:09)

07: Haters Gonna Hate: How Society Pressures You To Stay Fat
20 perc 7. rész

In this episode, Cari and I will talk about how people get all sorts of hate and negativity from the people around them when they lose weight or start working towards it. If you try to get skinnier and healthier, people will somehow find something to lecture you about.

They will never say anything to you when you are fat, but when you start drinking water and getting your sleep, they will suddenly start getting concerned that you're not losing weight in a healthy way. Cari and I will share what we think and how you can handle all that negativity and fearlessly work towards achieving greater health!

Key Points Discussed:

- Haters will start hating when you make positive lifestyle changes (02:26)
